  • I'll Have What She's Having

“Dating is trash, but sometimes you have to be a racoon.” Heather and Jameson are joined by special guest star Eddie Jones this week and watch the 1989 romantic comedy, When Harry Met Sally. Tune in as they recast for 2021 with Heather casting Taylor Swift, Eddie conjuring a queer cast, and Jameson turning this into a X-Men film. Jameson is shocked to find out the Carrie Fisher in this film is Princess Leia. Heather and Eddie agree Harry is a dick and Sally is perfection.

  • We came, we saw, we kicked its ass

Who you gonna call? Heather, Jameson, and Dynamic Stereo….um, Hallie! This week our favorite Gen Experts and millennial guest star take on both the original 1984 Ghostbusters and the 2016 remake. Hallie dazzles everyone with her sexy podcast voice and explains how her niece was deemed Zuul in utero. Jameson again missed this film as a child, as he was charging other children to watch his brother roll in mud proclaiming he was hatched from a mud egg. Heather cannot pronounce Sigourney Weaver after several attempts. Everyone agrees Holtzmann is the most perfect movie character ever, *licks guns*, and that women make the best Ghostbusters (Check out our Listen to This Shit explanation here: https://tinyurl.com/43nmdxfr).

  • You're a Dog, a Dog!

“Grab your wallets, because here comes a slow song”. Heather and Jameson explore yet another teen movie with the 1989 cult classic Teen Witch. Alongside Broadway baby Julie, they offer up their 2021 recast suggestions and talk about how Louise really learned nothing about herself by the end of the film. Heather and Jameson are also joined by Lauren and discuss what spells they would cast as adult witches. Jameson shares his new knowledge of the Teen Witch musical (check it out here: https://tinyurl.com/sh659dd5) and sadly confirms, there’s no singing or group showers in the girls’ locker room. See, I don’t really give up about tryin’ to top that.

  • Gen X turns one

GEN X GUIDE TO THE UNIVERSE TURNS ONE on March 24th! Join us for a very special episode this week as Heather and Jameson are joined by some of our favorite guests. The Gen Experts remind us of the history of the podcast and reminisce on how awful the first episode really was. Broadway baby Julie joins in to talk about the best movie soundtracks of the 1980s and lament about her canceled production of Newsies, Hallie explains why Jameson has missed everything pop culture and shares her favorite 1980s films, and elder millennial Eddie finally gets to step away from the hard hitting topics and instead provides a tutorial on all things Jagged Little Pill. Heather and Jameson are still vying for that Thimble Islands sponsorship, but in the meantime, they are accepting gifts of paper to celebrate year one. • LET'S DANCE!

Time to break all the rules and just dance in some warehouse outside of town limits with Heather and Jameson as they explore the fantastic world of Footloose, both the 1984 original and 2011 reboot. Heather and Jameson are joined this week by superstar guests Hallie, Julie, AND Lauren. Join as we plan Prom 2.0 for adults, play a little Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, share out our prom experiences, and complain about the Costco version of Footloose 2011. Special choreographed dance performance provided by Jameson and Julie. And remember to shout at your pastor dad, “I’m not even a virgin!”.

  • My Zipper's Open

This week Heather and Jameson offer their dream recast for the 1985 film, Just One of the Guys. Spoiler: Jameson’s recast includes Denzel. Another spoiler: Heather’s recast includes a bunch of actors Jameson does not know. Both agree Johnny should always be cast as the bully in high school movies. Our favorite Gen Experts discuss how this beloved film has not aged well as they recount the cross-dressing adventures of Terry who just wants that journalism internship. Jameson earns two and half gold stars while he confuses a bunch of white actresses from Jamie Lee Curtis to Amanda Bynes.

  • A Very Special Episode: Traction Park

“There’s nothing in the world like Action Park”. This week Heather and Jameson are joined by super guest star Broadway baby Julie as they dip their toes into that ice-cold mountain creek water of Action Park. The trio recounts their own mis-adventures at this adolescent rite of passage for any GEn Xer or early millennial who grew up in the greater NYC metropolitan area and discuss the 2020 HBO Max documentary, Class Action Park. We assure you, any and all folklore you heard about Action Park is indeed true. Julie uncovers Heather’s idiot savant nature at amusement parks, and the pair recruits Jameson to hold their purses at Harry Potter world. Oh, also of note, Julie and Eddie are still salty about not being featured in the Overboard episode. #Sorry

  • The world would be a lot better off without kids

HI KIDS! Jameson took a break from creating his own Helltrack by snowblowing the course in his backyard and forced Heather to watch his favorite movie, the classic 1986 BMX bike racing masterpiece, Rad. Story time with Jameson includes a helpful explanation of Blockbuster for Gen Z and Heather equates flipping over her handlebars with BMX tricks. Favorite guest star Julie stops by and weighs in on Rad with her long short review. Heather and Jameson gush over rival podcast “How did this Get Made” (check them out, only after you’ve listened to us: https://www.hdtgminfo.com/). If you’re looking for Heather and Jameson, you can find them romantically slow dancing on BMX bikes in some high school gym likely to Break the Ice (https://tinyurl.com/aguct990) and Send Me an Angel (https://tinyurl.com/4hjve24u). • So, you want to dance or what?

Happy Valentine’s Day from Gen X Guide to the Universe! To commemorate this Hallmark card-created holiday, Heather and Jameson watch both the original 1986 and 2014 remake of About Last Night. Jameson is eager to talk about Demi’s boobies, Heather wants her romantic comedies to hit you in the feels not not hit close to home, and the duo both decide that saying “I love you” is a precursor to cohabitation. Also, Heather and Jameson absolutely love Kevin Hart and Regina Hall’s performances in the reboot #JohnLegendofpenises

  • Trial by stone!

This week, Jameson minimizes the genius that is Jim Henson as he reduces the muppets to “grown men fisting stuff animals” as our favorite Gen Experts watch the 1982 film, The Dark Crystal, and the rebooted 2019 Netflix series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Heather admits she likes fantasy as a genre while Jameson would rather have ACL surgery again before rewatching this movie. Kermit and Big Bird get high with today’s letter, joint (tinyurl.com/yfhw6uef) and Jameson does explore some fun facts about Jim Henson (tinyurl.com/xgkhdsjf).
