Generations

On today’s episode, Sophie and I discuss Book 1 of our July/August book club book, The Postcard by Anne Berest.  This is not only a longer book than we normally read together, but the first book takes up a significant part of the page count.  So, we decided to divide our discussion between July and August so as to give each section its due.

This book is both devastating and beautiful, and we talked about why it’s a perfect choice for The Generations podcast.  Sophie also shares some very exciting news and Deb raves about a recent non-fiction read!

On today’s episode, Sophie and I discuss our June book, The Fortnight in September by R.C. Sheriff.   We both found this to be an almost perfect summer novel and we share some of the reasons it struck all the right notes, despite being close to a century old.  This book has had a recent resurgence in popularity and we chat about why that is and what our most meaningful connections to this classic were.

We also discuss our favorite things of the week, what we’re reading now AND we announce our July/August book!  It’s a packed episode.  Join us!

On today’s episode we discuss our May book, A Woman’s Story by Annie Ernaux.  Ernaux won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2022 and yet neither of us had read anything she’d written, so we decided to change that.  We spent the month not only reading (and re-reading) this beautiful book, but learning about her life, her inspirations, and her very unique writing style.  This book might be short, but it had a lot to say and so did we!

We also share some fun news and tell you what book we chose to read in June!
