Prayer is builds individual intimacy, and it also builds community intimacy.

 

 

James 5:13-20

What instances does James bring up that prayer is good to attend to?

How does prayer build community in these situations?

 

 

3 points to consider for building genuine community through prayer-

1. Be careful of prayer chains

   -say it and then pray it, rather than just pass it on

2. Pray with people for a significant period of time

   - stop the gossip mill by praying about things you hear and people say

   - we give money, time, and energy to the things we value

3. Pray over Scripture

   - to know God more, focus in on Him rather than our own needs

   - especially in trouble, when we don't have the words
