In 2016, Gerald faced a life-threatening battle with leukemia, ultimately leading him to a near-death experience that began with a heart attack induced by treatment. During his journey, Gerald found himself in an endless white space filled with profound peace and encountered a divine light that radiated an unearthly, life-giving energy. He saw his great-grandmother in this realm, who communicated with him through a silent language of understanding, and he experienced a level of bliss and knowledge beyond anything earthly. His experience was later confirmed when his homeless friend revealed seeing a guardian angel at the exact time Gerald was in the other realm.
