In the last episode of series one, the Get Amplified team are joined by Paul Burke, SVP of Product Marketing at Glasswall and client of the Amplified Group.
We explore why clarity is needed at every level of the organisations and how lack of it can paralyse individuals and teams and cause silos in organisations.
Drawing on 20+ years in product management, Paul shares how clarity operates at three critical levels: individual, team, and external communication.
From turning ideas into revenue streams to ensuring scarce engineering resources are focused on the right priorities, he explains that without clarity, even great ideas fail.
The conversation also explores how clarity impacts accountability. Referencing frameworks like First, Break All the Rules by Marcus Buckingham and The Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni, the group discuss how accountability often breaks down not because of lack of commitment, but because expectations were never clearly defined in the first place.
A key insight is that different personalities require different levels of clarity. What feels clear to one leader may feel ambiguous to another team member.
Paul closes by framing clarity in three tiers:
- Personal clarity – Know what’s expected of you and communicate it.
- Team clarity – Align around shared objectives to unlock accountability and results.
- External clarity – Be crystal clear about what your organisation does and why it matters, or customers won’t engage.
The core message: clarity isn’t micromanagement, it’s direction. And without it, teams stall, silos form, and performance suffers.
