Publisher's Summary:
Chad Miller never intended on becoming a serial-killing, counterculture hero....
Like millions of young Americans pursuing the American dream, Chad is determined to create the life he's always dreamed of. Medical school, married to the love of his life, and expecting a child, it appears as though life is right on track.
When the American dream turns into the American nightmare, Chad's forced to quit med school and rethink his life. With the recession in full swing, day-to-day life becomes extremely difficult. The job market is in shambles, and he's only able to find two minimum wage jobs. With six-figure, non-dischargeable student loans tugging away at his soul, Chad ends up losing everything...except for his debt!
Banks, bill collectors, and bad credit push him over the edge. He relentlessly researches the elites and the draconian system that they've designed. Becoming a martyr for the poor and working class, Chad gives the rich pigs a taste of their own medicine. The phrase, "They should fry for that!" is commonly heard about politicians, bankers, and their counter parts. Chad Miller is about to see to it that the phrase is more than a figure of speech!
Shot guns and sharks and plane crashes, oh my!
Members Reviews:
I found myself empathizing with a serial killer
The book opens with a somewhat graphic scene. I thought OK, typical gory story. But then it's steps back and delves into the character's life and what drove him to become a serial killer. From childhood on, the guy couldn't catch a break. The author almost overly drills Chad's (the main character) hardships, however, he does a good job of making the reader feel sorry for him.
Jump ahead, Chad's luckk really hits rock-bottom. No spoilers, but you can't help but hope things turn around for the guy. Life couldn't get any worse.
BIG TWIST!
From sweet, tragic love story, to an all out blood fest, revenge horror story with humor weaved in. Dark humor, very dark humor!
The main character does his deed by tapping into peoples most primal fears. Forewarning, if painful, vivid and torturous horror stories bother you, you might want to steer clear of this one. However, if you're like me and enjoy a good horror / revenge / satire story, you'll enjoy it.
The Debt Hex was an easy, entertaining read. Wallace Is a good storyteller.
disgusting, and psychotically comical
It's a real page turner! Alarming, disgusting, and psychotically comical.
