Helps Kids Who Have Allergies or Asthma
"The Terrible, Awful, Horrible AH-CHOOS!" is a cute book that tells the story of a zookeeper who keeps sneezing. He also feels like he has asthma. The animals at the zoo think they can help him out by keeping things cleaner. This doesn't work. He also tries wearing a sort of space suit around the zoo. Finally he goes to the doctor and gets an inhaler which helps the situation quite a bit. This is a rhyming story that is fun to read out loud. It will help kids understand allergies and asthma.

I received this book free for review. This review is my honest opinion.
The Terrible, Awful, Horrible AH-CHOOS
This delightful and entertaining story sends a strong message regarding identifying and overcoming allergies. It belongs in the pediatricians' offices and primary classrooms due to its educational value.
Comprehension is the goal of all reading. This book lends itself to many reading instruction techniques. Good readers draw upon prior knowledge and experience to understand what they are reading. Rereading passages orally and choral reading foster fluency. Other strategies include summarizing , defining new vocabulary, retelling and illustrating a portion of the story.
As a teacher with over 30 years experience , I believe The Terrible, Awful Horrible AH-CHOOS has a dual purpose of providing quality opportunities for reading instruction and bringing awareness of allergies to the forefront .
My 6 Year Old's Pick Every Night!
I picked up this book to read to my 6-year-old with severe allergies. Not only did it help her understand what was happening to her body when she suffers an attack, this book is funny and features a lovable hero, Augustus. She loves rhyming words and we often think of words together that could come next. My daughter chooses this book almost nightly to read before bed. Looking forward to more from Mary Bilderback Abel... Keep them coming!

Loved this book. There's so many kids that don't fully understand their allergies (or Ah-Choos!). The narrative and friendly illustrations make this a perfect delivery method for parents coping with their kids allergies, which seems to be a more widespread issue with young children today. I'd recommend this book to any parent; dealing with allergies or not. Think this book belongs in every doctor's office waiting room?...Ahh-YES!
loved it!!
