    Greenmantle
After the events in "The Thirty-Nine Steps" Richard Hannay joined the British Army as a Major. After the Battle of Loos he convalesced in Hampshire. A telegram summoned him to the Foreign Office to meet Sir Walter Bullivant. There is a potential danger from the Turkish Empire against the Allies. Hannay is to travel there to learn about this menace (Chapter 1). Hannay picks two aides: Sandy Arbuthnot and John S. Blenkiron (Chapter 2). In Portugal Hannay meets Peter Pienaar and takes him along (Chapter 3). They all travel into Germany and meet Ulric von Stumm (Chapter 4). The next two chapters tell of their travels in Germany. Hannay makes his escape and finds a refuge in the snowstorm (Chapter 7). He left to find a boat on the Danube (Chapter 8). Hannay finds Peter Pienaar and takes him aboard (Chapter 9). They arrive in Constantinople and find it eventful (Chapter 10). Will they be caught by their enemies (Chapter 11)?
They rejoin Sandy and John. Germany wants to control the Near East (Chapter12). Hannay now poses as an American (Chapter 13). When Peter and Richard are lost at night they find a house and are directed back to the city (Chapter 14). A meeting with a Turkish officer creates a dangerous situation. Hilda von Einem visits him (Chapter 15). They all travel towards Erzerum and their motorcar breaks down (Chapter16). They steal another car to continue their journey but are arrested (Chapter 17). They are able to escape to a house outside the city (Chapter 18). Can they get the military secrets to the Russians (Chapter 19)? Chapter 20 tells how Peter crossed No-Man's Land in the night to reach the Russians. Richard and his friends try to escape to the Russian lines but are trapped on a hill (Chapter 21). Just as it seems hopeless the Russian guns and Cossack cavalry sweep away the Turkish army and German troops to provide a happy ending (Chapter 22). [Will this counteract the defeat at Gallipolli?]
This was written in 1916, a bad year for the Allies. The German air force dominated the skies, until more advanced airplanes were produced for the French and British. This book can be viewed as propaganda for the Allied cause, a wish for the Russians to defeat Germany and come west. It points out the German interest in the oil-rich lands of the then Turkish Empire. Details of this story seem dated, but provides a view into the culture. John Buchan was a writer, barrister, member of Parliament, partner in a publishing house, a Church of Scotland official, and Governor-General of Canada. Few novelists have such a background.

The Stealth Fighter/Bomber - Made in China!
Where does Black Star rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I listen to audiobooks to take me away on an adventure while I pedal through the Texas heat. This was a great audio journey.
What did you like best about this story?
Stolen stealth technology, an invisible fighter dogfight, Taiwan/China revolutionary war, and the usual Robert Gandt cast of characters--brought to life by narrator Thomas Block. This is another excellent modern warfare adventure on and off the decks of the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ronald Reagan. Climb aboard, strap in, Hold on tight, and dont forget your UV goggles.
What about Thomas Blocks performance did you like?
I like the consistency Thomas Block brings to Robert Gandt's series.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
1V1 Stealth v Stealth aerial dogfight.
    Good.
I have read a lot of late. The storyteller was pretty good, the story very good.
A fun listen well worth the time
Mr Gandt again delivers an imaginative story in the action aviation genre
I particular rally enjoyed the fighter scenes the description does capture the Realism of dogfighting.
Tom Block is a gifted narrator

Nazi History and Astrology mixed together for a thrilling tale.
The best recommendation I have for this book is that I am telling everyone I meet to read it!
Mr. King mixes Nazi History and the "science" of astrology to carry the reader on a whirlwind ride of the tale of how the two intertwine. You get to tag along with Miles as he confronts the Elements and his fate as written in the stars. Just when you think he and his fellow investigators will break the secrets of a former Nazi's predictions, the rug is pulled from under them and they are off following another lead.
The person who narrates this book is the best I have ever heard! His ability to switch between British, American, French, Russian, and German dialects is genius and help to bring the characters to life. His pace moves the story along and pulls you in.
The story drags a bit at the end, but overall it was a book I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I look forward to Miles' next adventure!
    Really entertaining
I enjoyed the mix of history with fiction. The reader did a great job with accents for different characters. Highly recommend. :)
    Could have been great...
An extremely interesting plot premise, but very weak execution, one-dimensional characters and plot as if from a badly written simplistic children's book totally ruins it. I went through about 65-70% of the book before quitting.
Men are from Mars, Nazis are from Venus?
An American, Russian, Frenchman and Brit walk into a room... This one quickly climed the ladder to my favs. It was fantastic and very well done all around. I found myself liking all the characters, even the one I was suppose to hate. What I thought I knew, I didn't. What I knew was going to happen didn't. This is one heck of a ride and you will definitely have to hold on. The narration was fantastic as well. The characters tones and accents were genuine. His pacing and tone was right on the mark. The vivid descriptions of the European landscapes and post-war monuments were so good I could picture myself standing right there. I couldn't put this one down. Awesome job all around.
My best book of the year
Would you listen to Secrets of the Last Nazi again? Why?
I would listen to a follow-up book anytime, but I never listen to the same book twice.
What other book might you compare Secrets of the Last Nazi to and why?
I would say that it is similar to books from Dan Brown, as you think you know what is coming...but you do. Also another book I like is The Last Templar.

Drawn into the conspiracy surrounding Abigail, Nick soon discovers the danger is bigger than he ever believed. Now he must uncover the truth to save her and himself. Gripping and intense, this novel is a twisted thrill ride from bestselling author John Rector.
    Members Reviews:
Not the worst book I have ever read
Ruthless is too good to return, barely. Nevertheless, it is not worth the time, although it is short. There are too many good novels to waste time on this.
    Ruthless and Reduced....
Rector writes a story that needed more time to tell. Sucking the reader in with gritty situations and compelling conflict, you're doubly disappointed to find the story ends with so much unresolved. While Merriman narrates ably, it isn't enough to counteract the sense of being cheated. Perhaps you should wait for the rewrite before reading....
    Anticlimactic ending
This has some disturbing sequences in it. The plot twists were good, but I found the conclusion lacking. The narrator was excellent.
    Kept my interest.
The author did a good job of telling a suspense story. I never knew where it was going but the last chapter wasn't needed.

Suffering devastating physical injury and unthinkable personal loss, Mike had one of two choices: give up or fight back, and giving up wasn't in his makeup.
Mike and his wife, Lisa, a medical doctor and fellow counter-terrorism expert, are recruited by the International Market Stabilization Institute, a privately funded organization operating outside official channels to protect North America's financial interests. The strikes that destroyed Mike and Lisa's household - the work of Sheik Al-Assad - are bringing the Western economy to its knees. And they are only the beginning. If the Sheik succeeds, the world will change forever, and the next attack is just around the corner. It announces an unforgettable new team of characters and a distinctive new voice to the thriller world.

What a fast paced and action packed thriller!
Hang on and get ready for the ride! This triller is action pack from the beginning. I enjoyed the Canadian angle and the husband and wife team. Thanks to our neighbor to the north for their comment meant to fighting terrorism. Can't wait for mike and Lisa's next adventure!
    Not worth your time
I truly wanted to like this but I just couldn't find the way to do it the writing was sophomoric and the narration was horrible
Good Try but no quite there!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I can not stress this enough. The narrater is critical. I did not enjoy Adam Hanin's performance. He does not have the presents that you find in narrators such as,Brick,Farrell and Guidall.
What do you think your next listen will be?
    Anything by DeMille,Thor,Clancy,Child,Berenson
What didnt you like about Adam Hanins performance?
I did not.! He did not do the book justice
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
    Disappointment
    Any additional comments?
The author got lost in the details of the weapon systems, they are like special effect, to much can ruin the story. It all comes back to the basic's, IT'S THE STORY!
    not horrible but not good
I wouldn't recommend this particular book, maybe the authors later works are better. just too many better books out there in my opinion
    Wonderful debut novel!
If you could sum up The Thin Black Line in three words, what would they be?
    Amazing debut novel!
What did you like best about this story?
The overall story, the character and the insider tradecraft!
Have you listened to any of Adam Hanins other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my first Adam Hanin performance and I thought he did a wonderful job! I really like the way he did the voices when they were coming through a radio or cell phone.

    Publisher's Summary:
World War II is nearly over. For the Russians, the enemy is no longer Nazi Germany but the American behemoth that threatens to topple the Communist revolution. Deep within the walls of the Kremlin, Stalin's top man hatches a brilliant plan that will alter the course of postwar history - and it's all based on a deception as simple as the shell game. Five years later an atomic bomb detonates deep within the borders of the Soviet Union, stunning the experts who had predicted that Russian science could not produce such a devastating weapon for at least another generation.
The Red Eagles traces the adventures of two spies, Jack Kuznetzky and Amy Brandon, as they track down the most deadly force in the world while hiding their true allegiances and intentions from their compatriots. They are the "red" eagles, sent to America by one of its enemies to steal the greatest secret of all: the key to producing the atomic bomb.
Critically acclaimed spy-thriller writer David Downing draws fascinating portrayals of Stalin and Hitler as they determine the fate of the world, drawing us at breakneck speed from the Kremlin to Berchtesgaden, from Manhattan and Washington to Tennessee ad Louisiana, from Cuba to Sweden and New Zealand. And so the question remains unanswered to this day: How did the Russians produce the bomb so quickly? In The Red Eagles, Downing has created a story that will not only provide the ultimate clue but also satisfy the most demanding thriller devotee.

Yes, the narration is very good.
Was The Red Eagles worth the listening time?
Yes, my only note is the last act is not as thrill packed as a novel of this sort should be.

    Ridiculous
The first couple of books in this series were pretty good, but have deteriorated with each new addition. This one is simply ridiculous. I couldn't wait for it to end.
Best of the series so far
Story was well developed throughout the book. The jumps between character plots could still use some smoothing, but this is by far the best of the series so far. The narrator was clear and easy to understand, but sounded like he was a hosting the rose parade. His tone was always positive, with constant cadence and no inflections of tone or speed.
