    Read This Book!!!
Well written and a page turner from page one. It has everything I enjoy, intrigue, spies, traitors, revenge, lots of action and love.Of course I have to mention sex, steamy and well done. Abby Williams an investigative reporter who agrees to help the Falcon Security Agency free one it's operatives from the infamous Lubyanka Prison in Moscow. She is able to free him easily enough impersonating a Russian police agent. But holy spy caper, their troubles have just begun. Not only is Tony Archuletta a lover from her past but he has lost his memory due to a drug administered by the Russians to get him to talk. Wait that's not bad enough. When he was taken by the Russians he was on a very sensitive mission for Falcon and he is possibly the only agent who can pull it off. Abby for her part still loves Tony and she is drawn by default into all of the intrigue. Their adventure will take them from Russia to the Middle East being pursued by bad guys all the way. As if that is not enough Tony has to regain his memory so that he can complete his mission and keep them safe. Also adding to the fun is the two reestablishing their relationship while on the run for their lives. The story moves from events occurring in Washington,Texas,Russia and the Middle East all of which will have an impact on whether Tony can complete the mission and get himself and Abby home alive. The author moved between the various locations seamlessly and this added to the suspense. I was kept enthralled to the very last page. Read this book if you like the spy genre. I'm looking forward to reading more about the Falcon Agency.
    Me
WOW, what a ride! This was a really good story with non stop action and suspense, twists and turns right up to the very end and a nice little romance along the way. But again there were too many characters and many editing errors.
    A thrilling read
I loved this book! It was the first book I've read by Geri Foster. It jumped around a bit dealing with the different characters, but in a good way. Sometimes, authors use too many characters when doing that, and it becomes hard to follow. In this book, it made me want to read more so I could find out what was happening next with each character. I loved Tony's character, and willed him to get his memory back. He was full of surprises. I also loved Abby's character, her tenacity and loyalty.

    Fantasy Espionage
Reality is all the books in the genera are fantasy but some can pull off the illusion of possibly being real, not so with this novel. This is more like a super hero novel where nearly everything is unbelievable. There are some fun characters and likable, even if they are unbelievable. The plot is pretty obvious and there really arent any surprises. There isnt a great deal of depth and texture to the scenes, rather this novel skims along. The novel is adequate, hence 3 stars. The narrator does a good job.

What will happen as your hunger and desperation grow? Will you turn against your neighbors, your friends? Or will you work together to face the deadly challenges of everyday life?
The United States of America is a nation on the brink of collapse. With high unemployment, religious extremism, partisan politics, and civil unrest, mixed with the uncertainty of the global financial markets, it's just a matter of time before it all comes crashing down. Some countries are poised, troops at the ready, waiting for this day and the opportunity to seize it all.
Levi Nirschell, family man, rancher, patriot, and NSA operative has devoted his life to the service of his country. He has spilled his own blood, time and time again, for the cause of liberty and the protection of the innocent. Now his nation calls on him once more for its salvation. This time it's different - this time it's not just his life that's at stake. This time it may cost him everything he holds dear.
Collective Retribution is a prophetic look at the coming fall of the United States, and those who will be the catalyst in bringing about her destruction. Who will survive? Will America be rebuilt and return to her former glory? Or will she turn into something quite different than the Founding Fathers dreamed of? Something ugly - something evil?

"More dangerous, than baits to fish."--Shakespeare
What did you love best about Collective Retribution?
It is a warning of things to come. The men and women in charge of protecting our nation don't always show strength: That can be an invitation for others to come into our country and rule by force.
It was not meant to be a military survival handbook; as one person that rated this audio book wanted.
What did you like best about this story?
.I could smell the pine and feel the cold bite of winter as I became part of the hunt in the opening, Great descriptive passages all the way through the book. Held my interest on every thrilling page.
What does D. S. Edwards bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The personality and heart of the characters are revealed as this author reads the book. Listening to the feeling tone the author sets, coupled with the descriptions of the characters in this book. Makes me see into the heart of good people struggling against an oppressive evil.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
We're the greatest nation on Earth! We'll never fall!
    Any additional comments?
What a wild ride. Is this a prophetic look at our country's future?
    prophetic ?
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
    Yes, very Much so.
What did you like best about this story?
It is an interesting story with believable characters that rise to the occasion and do what right when thrown into a dark age of tyranny and evil, .
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It makes you think...The veneer of civilization is very thin.

    Publisher's Summary:
The war against Mexico's drug cartels just got outsourced in the new military thriller by New York Times best-selling author and special operations veteran Jack Murphy.
As a former special operations soldier, Deckard freelanced as a mercenary and got more than he bargained for. Now, as the commander of a private military company called Samruk International, Deckard finds work as Mexico begins its final descent into chaos.
Hitting the ground with a small recon element, he will first have to rescue a newly minted police chief named Samantha from the clutches of a drug cartel before blitzing across Southern Mexico. However, he can't do it alone. His success hinges on forging an unlikely alliance between Samruk International, Zapatista rebels, and the Central Intelligence Agency.
The Stewmaker. Captain Nemo. The Beast. These are a few of the human savages that Deckard and his mercenaries will have to trade fire with as they service one target after the next. But in the background, watching and waiting, is a far more dangerous threat. The Arab works behind the scenes, instigating conflicts and initiating one crisis after another. As Deckard follows the Arab's bloody trail, he finds that it leads north, into the very heart of America.
"I wrote this book to tell the story of modern-day counterterrorism and the dirty dealings of Mexico's drug cartels in the only way that it can be told at this point: as fiction. The concept of a group of American mercenaries going into Mexico to battle the cartels is a work of fiction, at least for now." (Jack)

Best-selling author Charles Cumming delivers a thriller that delves into the complicated double lives of spies and what happens when their half-told secrets die with them.
    Members Reviews:
    Fizzles out
I love Charles Cumming's work, and his writing here doesn't in and of itself disappoint. The characters are interesting, very fleshed out, and, true to Cumming's form, thoroughly psychologically explored. The problem is that the story goes nowhere. There's no real third act, it just ends without any satisfying resolution. I went from thoroughly enjoying myself to thoroughly disappointed in a turn of the proverbial page. Really unfortunate.
    Unsatisfying
The story had potential but the characters were too flawed and the plot was completely devoid of satisfaction, justice, and closure.

A fun way to listen to a classic novel.
What about Geoff Williamss performance did you like?
I enjoyed listening to Geoff's performance. His voice is very soothing,
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I like to listen to audiobooks in the car in short spurts.
Raises the audio experience to another level
What did you love best about Winter Kills?
The tone that's struck in the performance seems perfectly in tune with Condon's offhanded sort of off-center way with a story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Cerruti. He's a slavish soldier type with a Peter Lorre kind of creepiness. I especially enjoyed his description of his filing system. I could hear a dash of Dr. Strangelove.
Which character as performed by Geoff Williams was your favorite?
One of the reasons I like this audiobook is the parade of voices, which makes this production kind of unique, using a cast of actors rather than burdening the main narrator with having to perform each and every character. It adds some depth, and I think it's a good approach for a book with so many characters. I especially liked his touch as the narrator, executing the nuances that are so much a signature of the author.
    Any additional comments?
This is a very entertaining production. The story, being a Condon treatment of a presidential assassination, is especially intriguing. I think the author's storytelling style is brought to life beautifully.
Memories of JFK told in a Dragnet foremat
Interesting concept., a story/ setup that is quasi JFK assignation with semi realistic research. The story occasionally acts like it will take off nut seems to always run out of gas and it slows, coughs for a while and then moves on again. Interesting concept of using a Joe Friday type monologue to tell this 60's,70's style story.
This story did not have the impact of the Manchurian Candidate ....
