Excellent Intro To Strange Phenomena for Kids

If you are an aficionado of strange phenomena, you will already be familiar with many of the topics in this fine book. It is neither comprehensive nor exhaustive in its coverage. What makes it different and desirable, even for the expert in weird phenomena, is its emphasis on critical thinking about unexplained occurrences. The author wrote the book primarily for young readers as an introduction to the many topics of strange and weird happenings in human experience. This is a perfect book for stimulating the interest of children and teens in strange topics. More importantly it fosters thinking skeptically but not dismissively about the unexplained. Children are naturally drawn to the odd, the eerie, the outré. But their encounters with these subjects in the movies or comic books usually donât provide explanatory context that will help them understand and think critically about these controversial concepts. That is the purpose of this book, and it does the job admirably. I canât think of a better way for young readers to be introduced to these subjects. The author provides young readers with just enough information to give them a basic understanding and to pique their interest in each topic. The audio version is read in a very stimulating manner. I wish this book had been available when I was a kid. I plan to buy a print copy for my ten-year-old grandson, and I anticipate some great bonding conversations with him thru this book.

I Hardly Know What to Say

Poorly written, mostly dull, and glued together with a string of unfortunate incidents that can (and have) happen to anyone. The Devil is where you look for him, and in my opinion, the author was definitely looking. As a Christian (she mentions she was a Missionary) you know necromancy is forbidden in the Bible, yet she calls over "ghost hunters." If you're looking for trouble, most of the time you find it. If your mind is set that your home is "haunted" your mind will do its best to help you " make sense of it" by confirming your beliefs. Your stepfather dying of cancer, especially if he was, as the author puts it, "An avid smoker" (poor word choice there, avid is usually reserved for a pursuit you enjoy like golf or tennis. Perhaps "habitual" would have been a better choice, dear.) The deaths of two neighbors in 7 years is not "supernatural" at all, quite the opposite in fact. As for the flood, broken plumbing happens, doesn't mean it's supernatural again. As for smelling smoke after her stepfather (you know, the "avid" smoker) died is not unusual. When someone is a smoker, their stuff is going to smell like smoke, even if they smoked outside and that stuff permeates EVERYTHING. It doesn't go away immediately, if ever. To boil it down, boring book, nothing out of the ordinary that can't easily be explained happens. End of story. Don't pay for this book.

Good shory story

I am from Michigan, and lived in Dansville/Williamston area, just 20 minutes from fowlerville. I do believe in the paranormal, but have never experienced a house haunting. Am looking forward to hearing more if activity continues. I know someone from that area that would do a house blessing if it comes to that.

Universe - Are UFO Pilots Really Aliens

This was full of great information about aliens and encounters. There is good information on the different types of aliens seen and the classifications of the different levels of alien encounters. I have been especially interested in aliens after watching the movie The Fourth Kind. I think it is very probable that aliens exist because of the size of the Universe. Scientists have discovered that there are over 100 billion galaxies in the Observable Universe, our own containing 400 billion stars. There are even stars bigger than the Sun in our OWN galaxy, and many many galaxies much bigger than our average-sized Milky Way galaxy exist. So I definitely don't think we are the only fish in the sea. I am sure other beings are curious to visit us just like we are to know about them.

I think I believe in UFO...why not?

''Universe- Are UFO Pilots Really Aliens'' is a book that presents certain facts about UFO, going back even to the ancient cultures. What I really loved about this book is that it is free to your own interpretation! Download it and find out yourself! My fave chapter was the one about Nordic Aliens! This book really helped to disconnect from reality after a busy working week. Truly recommended!

INTERESTING READ

I've always been curious about the extraterrestrial but never knew there were so many different kinds. I found this book to be a fun read and I learned about the different encounters others have experienced, as well as, the classifications for them. Still left me wondering about the true identity of UFO pilots??? Guess we'll never know.

Another great book of the universe series!

The last one I read for this series and the best of so far. Very interesting as always. The author provided some great information. I love UFO stories and books. If you like it as well, go ahead and download your copy. I recommend it. 5 stars!!!

A very entertaining read on UFO's!

This book was fun to read and detailed all the various ufo's people have claimed to encounter in the last sixty years along with descriptions of them. It also tells how ufo sightings are categorized and the most common types of sightings.

Boring and poorly written

In addition there were entirely too many "time lapse" and "UFO" stories. Hardly what I'd consider"Beyond the Grave" as the title suggests. Some "stories" were so poorly written they made no sense at all. Read at your own risk.
