    Format: Abridged
Length: 1 hr and 29 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 05-16-12
    Publisher: Tate Publishing
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
"A woman said my dad was in a car wreck. He died. He drove head first into a building," Sue Ann rambled without a breath. "Kathy, my dad has been dead for eight years. I think she was talking of your dad. There was a purple car. Where are you?"
"You're not making any sense," I said.
She persisted. "Kathy, when is the last time you saw your dad?"
    "Last week. Why?"
"Jorge says his car has been missing for five days, Kathy."
"Itchy Feet" was the term Kathy's mother used to describe the behavior of Kathy's father, Robert. It is a deep drive to go, tour, sojourn, to be a rover, a nomad, or to wander. It is a drive that makes you feel you must go; that you will die if you do not. Robert's "itchy feet" made him unpredictable and easily misunderstood. Kathy reserves judgment and shares stories of the man as she knew him - from her childhood to his mysterious end. A series of heartfelt anecdotes about one man's life and choices reveals the spirit beneath the eccentricity.

When the Postal Service stopped the Mail Trains, They killed Train-Man Brown.
A Top 100 Free for Kindle Story... called "A True Gem..."
I was only 17 - a white kid green as they come - when I first met Walker Brown. Everybody called him "Train-Man Brown" or just "Train-Man". Not Trainman" - that was too soft. The emphasis was on "Man". A black man, he had evidently kicked more than a few butts in his lifetime of working in the moving mail cars, and had earned quite of bit of respect along the way. It was assumed he was crazy - but I never believed it, not for a moment.
And he was the only one who would help me, as I struggled to do my best on what some people called "The Gravy Train". The U.S.P.S.
This is his story. Of how he died when the thing he loved most in the world - sorting the mail on a moving train - was taken away from him. Leaving only my memory of him.
    Will Bevis.

When you pick a hero, let him be a great one.
Everybody needs a hero, but not everyone has the sense to select wisely. This was not the case for Will: his hero was Trail-Man Brown, a most extraordinary gentleman. Train-Man Brown was an exceptional train man, and a mighty fine friend to a fledgling mail carrier.
Read the story of how Train-Man Brown helped Will when everyone else was laughing behind his back and trying to make the job more difficult for him. Also see how much and why Will admired his new friend.
This is a marvelous story that will take only a few minutes to read but will stay with you for a long, long time. Good stories tend to have that effect on you: they are just something you don't forget.
Train-Man Brown, gone but not forgotten!
This is a perfectly written short which harkens back to days long gone. The remembrance of one man about another not clouded by issues of race or ethnicity. A story of love and admiration between two people who might have never known one another without their mutual work-related bonding. It is a beautiful and heartfelt tale, placed lovingly on the pages as almost a eulogy, and it does just that...it eulogizes a man who had a deep respect and love for his job, something rarely seen these days. A very quick read which will leave you teary-eyed and pining for things long ago lost to the ages. This is a little bit of history with a very personal bent which makes it that much more lovely to read. Don't miss out on this one.
    Fascinating and touching story~
Train-Man Brown loved his job sorting the mail aboard the mail train, and he was the best. He started as a young man, working on the mail trains for more than fifty years "... before they'd made him clear out and retire." His father was a train man before him, and when this way of life ended, Walker Brown's entire world collapsed.
I had never heard of the mail trains before reading this short story.

The four of us, woman, child, bird, and beast, struck up unusual friendships from the start, friendships that brought us all through crises and helped us weather life's storms, emotional and literal. But all did not survive our storms. Only Valerie and I remain, and I have lost contact with Valerie. Perhaps, someday, she will happen upon this story and we will renew our friendship once again."

    Publisher's Summary:
"Keep your enemies close, your family less so...Last year Nat found herself with nowhere to live. She considered sleeping on the bus and washing in the rain but inevitably ended up on her parents' doorstep. It was only for a month, she assured them, if that.. She repeated this phrase a lot over the next six months, while the housing market stagnated like a spoilt kid's fish tank, and her life followed suit. While her friends pursued normal adult lives, Nat was taking packed lunches to gigs and being treated to lectures on 'Why It's Nice When All The Tins Face Forwards In The Cupboard.' ('So we can see what they all are at a glance!')Nat wouldn't say she and those like her were the real victims of the recession, but it would be nice if you did. Then she would do a tiny, brave smile. A book for anyone who's been forced back to the family nest, parents who can't shake off their adult kids, or anyone who's ever excused themselves from a family gathering for a quick scream into a pile of towels."

    Interesting and entertaining book.
    very relatable
    Any additional comments?
i'm throughly enjoying listening to this audio book, Nat comically describes what its like to move back home in your twenty somethings. With fastidiously tidy parents eager to demean you to your face and brag about your accomplishments when not in your company this book is very funny and relateable.

    Heartbreaking yet inspiring
I cried buckets for Christina, Olaf and Laird, as I listened to this heartbreaking account of their life together and apart. Written with such warmth and love and told from the heart. An enthralling account of love, pain, strength and fear.
I admire the way that you all faced your worst fears head on with your heads held high.
Thank you for raising awareness of the difficulties our soldiers face.
I hope that you will find love again with the comfort of knowing that Oz will always be by your side.
