    Surprised
I started this story and was a little surprised and disappointed with the way the story had turned to new characters. Let me say after the first chapter I was so hooked on Brandon and his story and then Colin. I LOVE this arm of the story and will never again be so quick to judge. Thank you again Marie Force for a truly amazing and loving story. One more book to go I am a little afraid to start it as I know it is the last and I truly don't want to let go of anyone in these books.
    I loved Brandon O'Malley
Starting Over is book 3 in Marie Force's Treading Water Series. It focuses on Brandon O'Malley. It is a powerfully written book that elicits many emotions. I love that even though people make mistakes, their lives are not over.
Brandon O'Malley has spent the better part of the last 10 years in the bottom part of a bottle. He hits rock bottom when he makes unwanted advances on his brother's girlfriend Claire. This forces his life in a new direction. This incredible story is how he puts his life back together. It is filled with hope, fear, love and happiness. There are twists and turns that kept me burning through the pages. Marie has a way of making you fall completely in love with her characters. I laughed, I cried and I felt every emotion imaginable.
PS - Holly Fielding is amazing at performing this story for the audio version. Her talents combined with Marie's story makes for an incredible experience.

"This is a major 'feel good' book about two people rebounding from hard knocks without bitterness. It also comes with emotionally mature characters, palpable love and caring among family and friends, an adorable child and suspense." (

A NICE SENSITIVE (AND HOT) LISTEN
Definitely not quite as spicy as the first book - this one was more character driven with no sub plots or unanswered questions - just a steadily paced hot romance spanning well over a year between two very likeable people, and their families and friends with just one little hiccup. There are some bad memories, sexy hot scenes, a b*tch and dislikable in-laws that must be overcome before the couple can finally move on.
It also gives us a chance to catch up on the characters we grew to love from book 1 (if you've read it) and due to this there was a scene of m/m action then the pair were joined by their female partner.
Worth a credit? Yes, and I'm also looking forward to the next sibling's story.
    WOW....Love this book!!
A woman who chose an abusive man but saved herself and her child. Now she does not trust herself when she is attracted to a man who rides a Harley and has tattoos. Can not wait for Cooper's book.
    Enjoyable
I loved Laid Bare and was really looking forward to the brother's story. While this book flowed well and kept me interested it wasn't as spicy as I was expecting. I'm not saying the writing was bad or the premise of the book sucked but I wasn't pulled into the story like I was with Erin's story. I definitely will be listening to the other sibling's book when available but I hope to have some spice in their stories.
    Pretty Good
It's not in any way as good as the first book in this seires. If you like a regular love story then you'll enjoy this one. It has the characters from the first book but this one is Brody's story. It is nice and has issues for the characters to deal with and some mild sexual situations. All in all I'd rather get this one on sale. For those of you that like the regular love stories with modern day family problems (maybe extreme family problems) then you'll enjoy this one. I hope Adrian's story is more like the first book. This book is too tame for my taste, but it is a "nice" book.
    It was good
This book was good - not great but I liked it. Tuff tattooed guy - sweet girl fall in love with crazy friends and family to hinder their relationship. Love, romance, and drama makes a good book . I enjoyed the narrator - she added a lot of emotion to the listen. Will probably get the next book in the series.

    Book 2 was even better
Marie Force continues to tell an amazing story in Marking time, book two in her Treading Water Series. This book continues with the characters from book one, but it is focused from Claire and Aiden's perspective.
Claire is doing her best to find her way after recovering from her coma. To get away from it all, she moves to Vermont to help her brother for a few months. The last thing she expects is to meet a broody carpenter who makes her think differently about her life.
Marie has an amazing way with words. She captivates you from the start and does not let go. This series is one I could read over and over again. The angst, trials and tribulations as well as the connection between the characters makes me fall in love each time I've read it. I felt every emotion possible while reading this book. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I fell in love. This is a series I would recommend to all. The best part is that there is more to come for me to read!
PS - The audio version of this book is phenomenal. Holly Fielding does an amazing job. She makes the story come to life and I could not stop listening to this. She has a tremendous talent and paired with Marie Force's story, it was quite a treat!
    Poor recording quality
Unfortunately this book is marred by almost constant background noise in the recording. Characters grew on me and story held my interest.
    Wonderful characters. Uplifting story.
I love the characters and the storyline that focused on the power of love and overcoming life's heartbreaks,
    always a good story
I love Marie Force. her stories are intriguing, her characters lovable, her writing is excellent!!! she never disappoints!
    Forgiveness
Would you listen to Marking Time again? Why?
Yes, the story was awesome. Just to imagine yourself being someone in a coma for three years and to wake up one day to your life as you know it gone and you are left to pick up the pieces in the same house.
It's a lesson in forgiving and moving on.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Clare and Aiden.. You have Clare who was in a coma for three years after begin raped and feeling no hope in life to having a husband in love with another women who was pregnant by him and who took care of your daughters while you were in the coma.

Another great piece by Sherryl Woods
    Catching Fireflies
This was a great read. Bullying is truly a difficult subject to address, the author did an amazing job. Loving the Sweet Magnolias series
    Series is great
    LOVE the series
A great message in this book
Unlike other Sweet Magnolia books, the theme of this one is about a serious relevant issue - bullying. Some new characters joined the old characters, expanding the lovely town of Serenity. Though more serious than other books in the series, it was still a sweet romance.
    A Worthwhile Topic
Bullying is not something that I have seen addressed in books of this type before and seldom in any others in spite of the prevalence of this awful scourge. Those of us who have lived through it and it's devastating effects know how hard it is to overcome the damage that occurs to one's self-esteem and the work it takes to rebuild it. To have this in black and white, to see it written for all to read that the effects can be life long is liberating as it allows one to say, see, it really was that bad.

The second in the series doesn't disappoint.
When I read romance novels, there are certain components that make or break the book for me. Of course, at the most basic level, the author has to knows how to write and execute a story. Given that, I have to like the main character and find myself rooting for his/her happiness, laugh aloud at least once in the story, and ultimately be left with a heart warming ending.
Rainshadow Road focuses on Lucy and her family and stayed true to the storyline without all the extra fuss and dramatics that often get thrown in gratuitously. I strongly dislike dramatic irony in fiction, especially in romance novels. Knowing the main character was deceived and will suffer because of it throughout most of the story or that something terrible has to happen in the end for the story to be resolved gives me anxiety and takes the joy out of reading for pleasure.
This is only my second contemporary novel (the first being Christmas Eve at Bar Harbor) by Lisa Kleypas. I really enjoyed her Hathaway series and Wallflower series and decided to try her contemporary fiction. Rainshadow Road does not disappoint. Lisa Kleypas has a way of infusing humor and witty banter in her dialogues. This book is definitely one that I will listen to again.
It's not absolutely necessary to read the first book in order to enjoy Rainshadow Road, but I would highly recommend starting with Christmas Eve at Bar Harbor to appreciate the interactions and development of the characters.
After reading Rainshadow Road I know I'll be waiting for the Friday Harbor books as they are released. I'm looking forward to reading Zoe's story when it comes out in August.
    GREAT story
    I love Lisa Kleypas --

    A lovely romance with knitting!
    Any additional comments?
I loved this story that put romance and knitting together. It was fun to listen to while I was knitting and I enjoyed the characters and story. I especially liked the romance. Although it was obvious where it was going, I did enjoy how the story unfolded. I will definitely be reading the next in the series.
    Don't bother
Poorly writen, totally predictable, no depth to characters. I stuck it out to the end hoping that it would get better but was disappointed.
    A fun book
Very well written and a delight to listen to while working with fiber and yarn. The reader did an excellent job bring the story alive.
    Unlikable Hero
    ** 2.5 stars **
How to Knit a Love Song was okay, fine, but I didn't love it, or even enjoy it that much. Abigail was a decent heroine, didn't annoy me as much as other readers. I liked that she was obsessed with yarn and creating beautiful objects with great yarn. She was way impulsive and prone to falling all over the place. Cade, on the other hand....
I could not stand the man. He was rude, judgment, prone to jump to stupid conclusions, and not above using another woman to hurt Abigail. I did not get his appeal and I was not in board with the romance.
As for the narration: I've definitely heard worse, but I didn't think this narrator was a good fit for the story and characters.
If you like a racy story, this book is for you.
I, personally, don't like reading books with explicit sex. I know plenty women do. So I won't say this is a bad book, it's just not for me. I fast forwarded through the unnecessary parts to listen all the way to the end. The narrator is excellent, able to change her voice for different characters very entertainingly. And the story did hold my interest.

This girl was annoyance personified from start to finish! It is only in the pages of a romance novel that anyone could find this person even remotely appealing. Save yourself the frustration and eye rolling and skip this one.
Early Effort by a Genre Master
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I am somewhat ambivalent on this question. I enjoyed listening to one of the early efforts by a favorite author. However, like many early works, it is not up to the standards of this author's efforts in the last ten to fifteen years. It is not a story that really held my interest and is not one I want to listen to ten or more times as I have some of her others.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jayne Ann Krentz? Why or why not?
Oh definitely. As mentioned above, I could tell that this was a very early work by a favorite author and someone who is one of the best authors in the romance genre.
    Any additional comments?
Get this on sale if curious about Krentz development as an author. However, don't expect too much.
I know it had it's bad moments I enjoyed it anyway
I, unlike most of the other reviewers quite liked this, maybe if I'd actually read the book I may have felt differently, but it is what it is - a lighthearted feel good totally fictional romance novel. I agree that the female character was a really annoying bit_ _ and very dislikeable and that there were 'eye rolling' parts but it was also fun and enjoyable. However, I'm a JAK fan and pretty much love all her work but some are better than others and this one's a 3 not a 5.
Worth a credit? No, but get I'd get it if it's on sale and be happy.
Overly Dramatic Narration Ruins This One
I sure will be happy when Audible lets you rate both the book and the narration separately. What ruined this book was the nauseating over emphasis put on every single word from the narrators mouth. Plus Ashley Aldon and her producer got the whole tone of the book wrong! I've read the book many times and the heroine was not a smart mouthed *itch and the hero was not a quiet nerd! But that is what we get with this narration. Instead of the two very confident people finding common ground that were written in the book. A classic JAK from 1985 trashed by the narration/production. Two stars, only in nod to JAK.
    ok
maybe I would have liked reading it myself better. didn't care for narrator. I love jayne's books, I think this may be the first one I struggled to finish.

    Members Reviews:
    A disappointment....
I usually like everything I read by Nora Roberts, but this book was a bit of a disappointment. The main character(Gwen came off as very immature and churlish, and she seemed incredibly stupid for acting on an assumption that could have been easily clarified. Since she and Luke had this explosive chemistry between them, how hard would it have been for her to just ask if he had been involved with her mother? Since this is the premise of the entire book, I found myself rolling my eyes several times over the sheer lunacy of it all. And the fact that Gwen blamed Luke for everything rather than taking any responsibility for her own actions was just ridiculous.
The narrator did a good job with the southern accents, but that only made Gwen's southern belle character even more annoying. Not Nora's best work.
    NR fan
I have enjoyed many, many of NR's books. I didn't enjoy this one as much but it is an okay read. Could have just been timing for me. I will always purchase her books and give'em a try because she writes stories I enjoy.
    Not so good
I enjoy Nora and Therese but there just wasn't anything to like about this heroine and the story was boring
    Best narrator
This was a really good book. It was easy to follow for a light read or listen. But what really made this book stand out was the reading by the narrator Who did a remarkable job.
    Save your money!!
I simply didn't like the story. Too damn close to a soap opera. The main female character is beyond annoying. I found myself frustrated. I usually love NRs books this one was a serious let down.
