Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you managed to eke out a satisfying holiday season.
Kicking off 2021 with a very special interview. I had the chance to talk to Lorna Crozier about her memoir Through The Garden: A Love Story (with Cats). Lorna is a remarkable poet and author, an Officer of the Order of Canada, and from my brief experience, a lovely human being. Through the Garden chronicles her life and life during her late husband Patrick Lane‘s illness and tragic passing (I was lucky enough to speak with him before he passed, you can hear it here).
Wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone out there. Thank you so much for listening. I hope 20201 brings you joy.
Today’s guest is my friend, writer Jessica Rose, here to discuss Reclaiming Hamilton: Essays From The New Ambitious City Check it out!
Merry Merry and Happy Happy to everyone out there in lit land. Our weekly show lands on Christmas Eve, so you might not get around to it quite yet, but if you’re looking for something to do between the holidays, we’ve got you covered.
Our guest to day is Catherine Bush, discussing her latest novel, Blaze Island. I hope you enjoy!
This week we talk with Jonas Hassen Khemiri, whose recent novel The Family Clause was nominated for the National Book Award in Sweden. He chats with us from his home in Stockholm. The book is available in English translation via House of Anansi. Enjoy!
Today’s guest is Kerry Clare, discussing her new novel Waiting For A Star To Fall. After the requisite jokes about the song of the same name being stuck in my head, we had a wonderful chat about the book. I hope you enjoy.
Hi everyone! Something a little different today. We chat with Kathryn Nicolai, writer and host of the Nothing Much Happens podcast, which has had about a squillion downloads (no, really, hundreds of millions). We discuss the idea of writing a story with very little story, word choices, mindfulness and more. Tune in!
It's official: as my first show aired Nov 24, 2016, today's show is officially Season Five, Episode One!
That's bananas, as far as I'm concerned.
We kick it off with poet and musician Rasiqra Revulva, talking about her collection Cephalopography 2.0. Hope you dig!
Today’s show sounds a little different. A while back I had the honor of hosting the book launch for Boy, by Hamilton author Brent van Staalduinen. It was, of course, online, so what you’re hearing is a reading, my questions, and some questions posed by people in the virtual audience.
You’ll notice that my voice is the one that sounds phoned-in for a change! Sadly we had to edit out some great performances by Elisa Arsenault, due to legal nonsense (i.e. Soundcloud would shut it down – but hey, check out her bandcamp page here!) Enjoy this week’s show.
Today’s guest is the excellent Anne Stone, talking about her exciting new novel Girl Minus X. Hope you enjoy!
I’m excited about today’s guest, Annabel Lyon, with whom I had a wonderful conversation a few weeks ago. Her latest, Consent, was long-listed for the Scotiabank Giller Prize. Enjoy the show!
