Short and Sweet

This was a very sweet short story. He is a bear shifter and when he sees her the first time he knows he's found his mate. She is human, rich and has a theft addiction. He gives her a proposition or blackmails her, wanting to spend time with her. He was trying to find the right time to tell her about his secret but something happens that gives him no choice. The story is sweet, the sex is yummy and the HEA made me smile. Would have loved more of their story for sure.

The narration was perfect for this story.

Sweeter than honey

This is a good short story. It is about a good Bear Shifter book that keep my interest. I really enjoyed the way John totally gets Crystals goat and how me intrigues her enough to do as he says. It was a quick listen and did it in one sitting

Quick read, bones but no meat

This is a really interesting read, it has the bones of the story but lacks meat. I love shifters, especially bears, so this was right up my alley.

Many things in the story are vague and left hanging. I was unsure what time period this was, it did not feel fully modern and there was mention of carriage travel, but it was never stated. There is a mention of other paranormals but the world is never fleshed out, perhaps the next book will give more detail.

The romance of John and Crystal is very quick and while it held warmth, it was missing passion. Not a steamy hot read but there is a little open door bedroom action. I felt a connection between the two but it either needed more time to build or it should have been combustible all consuming heat.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Vanessa Hart. She has a great smoky voice that lends itself beautifully to the read. The voices are distinct and it is always clear who is speaking. I really liked the tone of John's voice. There were times when the dialogue felt stiff, partly because of the read and partly due to the writing. The speed could have been a touch faster, it was nice and steady throughout.

Overall this was a really nice little read. I loved the narrative style, we had both leads POV's alternating. This really helps the reader engaging with the characters. This is a very minimal story and I would love to see it expanded. It has a great concept that has so much to explore, I really hope the next book gives up a better picture of the world Ms Allie is creating.

This is my first read from Geraldine Allie, she is a fairly new voice in writing. She has great potential and I hope to see much more of her work! Especially yummy bear shifters!!!

Still a great concept, not a fav in the series

This book is a tough one to call. It is the fourth book in the series, which I have really enjoyed, but it just wasn't my favorite. The concept and supporting characters are still fantastic, the issue is with the leads in this book.

Lisa is more than a touch shallow and pampered. She is really very sweet but the whining is annoying at times. I do give her props for working hard and trying to make the situation work, but she needs a lot of patience to get to that growth point.

Her new husband Eddie seems like a big jerk most of the time and a real sweet heart others. He can be really hurtful at times with his words and super jealous. He is also rather inexperienced with women and it shows in the relationship.

The book is mostly from the POV of the two leads, swapping the narrative back and forth. It is always a smooth transition. There were a couple spots where supporting characters had control, I wished for more of those.

The story really dragged because I did not like the leads, They were both very immature most of the time and I was ready to throw in the towel more than once. I am glad I stuck with it, because they both had growth in the end. It was just a long road getting there. By the end I had warmed up to them and even got emotional a couple times.

The steam is really delicious. It starts off awkward, he needed a bit of instruction on pleasing his lady. After the first night things are very smexy!! Plenty of yummy details to keep things hot and heavy. Eddie never quite gets as Alpha in the bedroom as the wolves, but he certainly steams things up when he gets the hang of it!

I listened to the audiobooks narrated by Clementine Cage, who really helps pull things together. She does a wonderful job with all the voices, keeping them consistent throughout. Her steady pace in the read helped keep me listening when I was wary in the beginning. The energy in the smexy scenes is delightful. She is given a difficult task as both leads are a touch whiny, thankfully she took the challenge and minimized the effect with her great tones.

Overall, I pushed on and was happy to have finished the story. From interactions with these characters in the earlier books I feared I would not like this book.

Interesting world, bad narrator

This was an interesting book, I couldn't put it down. I saw MANY plot holes, but it grabbed me from the first paragraph with its sensuality and didn't let go. I haven't read any other alien romance books, so I can't say if the plot was unique but it definitely kept my interest.

5,000 years ago a settlement on earth wished they were somewhere else and because of a secret ore under their settlement their wish came true. They found themselves on a planet with two moons, and built a life away from the chaos happening on Earth. Now in present day that once bound clan has separated in a sort of north versus south way....one side having a lot of the secret ore, the other side thinking they are entitled to it. There has been war for centuries both sides taking massive hits, both sides having bred to hate the other, and both sides committing atrocities against their enemies. How does this involve one earth woman who can hear the thoughts of others, and who one alien finds himself infatuated with....well, she is the key that could bring peace to the other planet, and maybe one mans heart.

The world, the story, the characters I REALLY LIKED! I'm willing to get book two when it comes out next month just to see where the author will go with this world. There were many times where the plot just seemed to magically fix itself, which left me feeling kind of short changed, but I still want to know more about this world.

The narrator was NOT good. Couldn't do men's voices, had zero inflection when the men were suppose to be growling, or talking low, or being seductive. The main female she had inflection for, but with the men it just was non existent. There was an alien word that meant beautiful, and the narrator spoke it as the word "Linda"...this was confusing because several times the main lady was called Linda, which hello is a girls name and not HER name. At one point the leading lady asked about the word and the guy explained it and she "tried to pronounce it"....um hello if it was actually pronounced As Linda there would be no reason to TRY to pronounce it, kind of a common word!

Anyway, I would say for this first installment it was worth a credit and a sale but not a buy.

Could not finish.

What would have made Quicksilver Dreams better?

This story dragged on and on and on. I was bored. The heroine was so whiny.

Okay story... Hard to listen to...

While the story itself was good, it was difficult to really enjoy because of the narrator's performance. The narration was stilted, stiff and I really hate to even put this out here... very reminiscent of William Shatner's James Kurt. Halting and misplaced pauses just made this book hard to listen to.

Great short story with steamy sex.

Would you try another book from Ana Vela and/or Meghan Kelly?

Yes, this book was well written and narrated by a talented person. I love the ease of the story. It was also not an "over the top" vampire and werewolf story. The story is a great quick read with steamy sex and hint of supernatural characters.

What about Meghan Kellys performance did you like?

This book was different from other performances I have listen to from her. She was very casual and the male voices were pleasant. I loved this production from her. She did a great job. You can tell she puts the time into preparing to create a great experience for the listener.

In this book, the main female Dana is one spunky and brave, not scared of nothing woman. Even after being rescued by Morgan, the mysterious mountain man. Dana still will not show any nervousness. Even after all she goes through in this story. And when things just mysteriously appear, she seems to not be scared. This is a must read if you like surprises and the unexpected. This is a book for you. Connie Flynn is great at describing the weather so you can feel the cold of winter while you read. I have read this book 3 times and have enjoyed it every time. Also she makes you really feel sorry for Morgan and the life he left behind just to keep from hurting other people. Read and enjoy.

Wonderful change from other paranormal books!

What made the experience of listening to Dangerous the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed listening to the narrator. The story line was really good and the characters were great!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dangerous?

I liked the way that Devon kicked butt and didn't wait to be rescued by Liam. I especially liked when she beat the crap out of the assassin that was blended into the wall.

Have you listened to any of Alexandria Wildes other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't believe I have listened to her performances before. She is very good though.

Purrrfectly compiled!

I must admit that when I started reading the trilogy and to be honest I started reading it out of a whim the cover was pretty typical which the story was just the opposite I guess in this one must say never judge a book by its cover! I read the first installment breathless and I had to purchase the second one and now I'm onto the thirdâ Be still my puuurrring heart!

Definitely worth continuing with the story.

Decided to keep going with this series after Rogue's pawn and I'm super happy I did. Things started to make more sense in this book and I love the interplay between Gwynn and the other characters. Friendships were forged, enemies made and love blossomed. And hilarity ensued....I know I laughed out loud a few times.

Great Sequel

Don't read this without first reading Rogue's Pawn, the first in the series. I wrote out a much longer review for that book but this book is just as great. I absolutely love this series and the sequel to the first is no exception! beautifully written, fast paced and continues where the last left off. The relationships between people in this book are intriguing and keep you guessing. Definitely recommend!

Book two in the series. Pretty good read. Lots of sexual tension but not overdone sex. World of the Fae is very creatively done.
