    Enjoy everlasting youth with Imortalon.
It was possibly the discovery of a lifetime: a drug that would reverse the effects of aging, seemingly indefinitely. The tests were all positive, first on rats, then monkeys and other large animals, and finally, on humans. It was a dream come true, the promise of a healthy, happy life, with all the benefits of the young, including energy, vitality, and sex drive, for 200 years or more. Tens of millions clamored to be among the first to take the drug. The FDA approved the drug in record time. Unfortunately that was before anyone found out about the headaches, the uncontrollable rage, and the suicides; the dream became a nightmare!

    A Very slow going book
Took a long time to get going. The relationships in the book leave a lot to be desired. Neat science behind the story. I like strong female characters, and Freddie certainly qualifies as that. This book would be best as a movie.
Possibly living for ever, or not
Would you listen to IMORTALON again? Why?
    Yes, as I enjoyed it
What was one of the most memorable moments of IMORTALON?
    All of them
Have you listened to any of Whitney Websters other performances before? How does this one compare?
Have not head Whitney Webster's voice before this book
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The entire books, that I listened to in one sitting
    Any additional comments?
    A top audio book
In Search of the Fountain of Youth
    Any additional comments?
Always chasing after an elixir to prolong the life; always hoping to extend the life and escape the inevitable death. This story holds true to that age old conquest. But it also holds a valuable moral. Be careful when asking for what you wish for, you may not be prepared for what you receive. The audiobook will hold you to your seat thru the very last chapter. The narrator, Whitney Webster, does a masterfully and skillful job of treating each character with a uniqueness to allow the story to take on a life that is both suspenseful and riveting with her talent. This is an audiobook listening experience not to be missed.

    Publisher's Summary:
In the days when the corporations rule the world. The middle class is gone and the cities are divided into upper and lower towns.
The upper towns are domed to protect the rich from the foul air that permeates the world, from the waste that fills the air, and fumes that blacken the sky from the smoke stacks of the factories. The water is heavily rationed in the lower towns and barely drinkable, so fouled by the chemicals that fill the rivers and springs.
While in the upper town the water is purified even in the fountains and swimming pools that grace the world of the high and mighty. The shops, boutiques, restaurants, and museums are crowded in the upper town, music can be heard everywhere, and the flowers grow tall and beautiful. While the people of the lower towns work six days a week, in sixteen to eighteen hour shifts.
There one day of is Sunday, it is then that the men and young boys must be found in church, while the women and girls are kept at home, for they are considered to be beasts for breeding and less important than the animals that grace the zoos of the upper towns. Food is scarce in the lower town and the only market is the company store.
The world has stepped back into the dark ages. Nearly all hope is gone to those not born into wealth and only the prophecy that one day a young woman will come who can control the magic of the between times keeps the poor going. It is said she will be able to pull on the energy of all those who are of like mind, wrap that energy together and send it into the world to remake it. Marta Moran Bishop takes the reader through a possible future.
Unlike Orwell's, Animal Farm and 1984, or Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, The Between Times is not based on the government "Big Brother," but rather it is written using a recent ruling by the Supreme Court that says corporations are people.

    Wished it wouldn't end
    With a fervent imagination adeptly
used, it brings this author's world courageously to the reader.
Marta Moran Bishop is someone you want to know. She conveys the soul of her character and makes you want to know more about the genesis of the shadow self she lets out, I would suspect, only by her writing and now by audiobook.
I would not want to visit Moran Bishop's dreams though; too disturbing I would guess, but her fable is a relatable adventure into the mind of the writer as well as a cautionary tale set in the future and fresh from today's
    headlines.Thoroughly enlightening.

    Lifeform Three
I didn't check this book out for a while, because science fiction generally isn't my thing, whether it's space opera or dystopia or anywhere in between. I don't always like literary fiction, as a whole, either. But I found Roz Morris's other book, My Memories of a Future Life, fascinating, and her writing was top-notch, so I decided to give this a go. And I am glad I did.
Lifeform Three, while not quite a dystopian book, is set in the future, and the only remaining countryside is preserved at Harkaway Hall, a theme park that is taken care of by bods. The entire story is written in third-person present tense, which can be really tricky to pull off, but Morris does it effortlessly. Morris's prose the entire book is effortless, always beautiful but always in service to the story she's telling.
And what a story it is. Simply, yet very profoundly, Morris brings up questions of belonging to a group, individual identity, our relationship to nature and animals, and how easily we destroy nature to suit our own desires. Everything is woven into the story so that it never becomes preachy or out of place. Paftoo is a likable protagonist, and I was rooting for him the whole way. The side characters all have their own quirks that separate them from the others (especially since each bod's name begins with 'Paf') and Morris also really knows her horses--not just the semantics of riding and training, but horses themselves. I would have read this sooner had I caught on that a lifeform three is a horse!
Best of all, Lifeform Three was perfectly clean. No language, no graphic content of any kind; I could easily recommend it to anyone. And I would recommend it. If you're looking for a thoughtful, unique, yet entertaining read, check out Lifeform Three.
Spmething New Has This Way Come
There's a story of Kurt Vonnegut barging into a scifi conference room and yelling, "You're the only son's of bitches telling the truth. I love you!" Roz Morris is the future life of one of those writers in that conference room. A truth we work very hard to ignore is told in this book that leaves us painfully awake and asking ourselves where are we headed with this world we've created. It is dystopian, to be sure, but in an utterly unique way with the same calm stealth with which we approach this new world we're creating but too busy to imagine where it's leading. Roz Morris imagines it for us.
Unlike the current trend in dystopian novels, there is no human blood or gore here, no guns blazing or a hero of super-human intellect and physical strength to save the day.

    Great read!
Great book! I read this book only knowing the description on kindle, and thought it was a great read. If you are into post-apocalyptic stories are your thing (or even just mystery/science fiction), I would highly recommend giving this book a read! The story got interesting quick and it was a fast, fun read. One thing I liked is the characters. They continued to develop through the story. At the start of the book, I hated Angela (Davids spoiled daughter) and wasn't sure about David (the head of the company ABT, researching the virus). You aren't sure if David is only out to further his company or he truly is a protagonist? But by the end, as the characters and story developed, I was interested in the characters and what was going to happen to them. I am hoping for a sequel, I'd like to hear what happens to the characters and the story line!
If you fear zombies, pick this up.
Story captures your interest and illustrates actions in the peri-apocalypse. This is how the outbreak began! Hopeful for a sequel.
What could possibly go wrong in virus research and development?
Very enjoyable read. Excellent character development, exciting plot. Best read during daylight hours!
    Five Stars
Good story, well written. Zombie stories FTW!

    Great Sci-Fi Thriller!!
This book took me for a complete loop. The story begins with covert operations that span countries and turns into a saga that spans planets in the year 2015. As mere humans we tend to believe that Earth is the only planet that boasts inhabitants, but suppose we are wrong? This is the book that will tune your senses in to what could possibly be happening in the great out yonder. Roger Taylor is a Top Secret CIA agent known for his ability to get the job done. When an acquaintance encourages him to read a top secret document, Roger is skeptical since it refers to aliens and time travel. One thing leads to another and before he knows it he is thrown into a world of strange extraterrestrials and the wars that they wage on each other and try to wage on Earth as well. Zera, a secret agent from Israel becomes his only other human partner as the story progresses.
Join Roger, Zera, and a few alien friends as they mediate peace and resort to war, when necessary, to save struggling civilizations on other planets. The shift from the problems on Earth to those in other worlds is so smooth that I forgot that the stuff I was reading was not fact. The author did a great job of introducing aliens of all kinds and making me understand their feelings and dilemmas. There were a few that I wanted to annihilate myself, but for the most part most of them were likeable creatures. What difference should short, hairy bodies; foreheads with horns; and skinny bodies with one eye make? I loved the action, but I also loved the humanity portrayed as well. In just about every situation, Roger and Zera tried to do the right thing and protect the home planets of those they met. You will experience espionage, love, parenthood, trust, and cunning written in a manner that will keep you turning the pages. Yes, Roger and Zera are heroes, but will they ever return to Earth, or will they become the only two of the human race left? There has to be a sequel because I want to know the answers to these questions!
I highly recommend this book to those who love a mystery with some sci-fi thrown in. Just know that once you pick it up, you will not want to put it down!
Every once in a while I like to sit down and read for pure entertainment instead ...
Every once in a while I like to sit down and read for pure entertainment instead of research or editing my own works. When those occasions occur I like to find myself in a world that the author takes me so far away nothing else exists but the book I hold in my hand and Eddie Upnick and his sci fi time traveling stories do just that!
Lonely Heroes is the fourth book in Eddie Upnick's series. However, time wise, this book fits between Time Will Tell and Future Tense. Although these books are part of a continuing series, each book stands well on it's own for first time readers.

Neuraldine is the corporation conducting this experiment to aid those with learning disabilities, one of which is handicapped with Downs Syndrome, (Number One). Nobody knew because there was no way to know that Number One was a savant. An undetectable rarity with Downs Syndromes children. The Children, numbered one through five, absorbed the data being fed to them at an amazing rate. As the children grew older, they became data addicted. Soon the Neuraldine Corp. could not obtain and feed the data at a rate required by the children and they rebelled. This story is enriched with physics (String Theory), neural networks, nuclear destruction, electromagnetic pulse attacks, as well as a worldwide plague.

    Great Story
Would you listen to The Five again? Why?
Always seem to learn something new when listening to a book again so I will listen to The Five again in the future.
What did you like best about this story?
I found it very interesting how they taught the children at such a fast pace. Seems like something that will be done in the near future, if not already.
Have you listened to any of Paul J McSorleys other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to a number of audible books performed by Paul J McSorley. He always does a great job and The Five is excellent.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The Five makes you think about how we will be teaching kids/adults in the future.
    Fantastic story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
    Yes
    Any additional comments?
Fantastic story! It was obvious the author new his stuff. I found the Artificial Intelligence (Neural Networks) idea intriguing. I also found the whole concept of computer training a portion of the brain to understand code, then feeding data at a rate the human brain was not meant to receive. The Ebola parts will definitely give you the creeps but you will not be able to stop listening. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for an exciting techno thriller. By the way, I thought the narrator did an excellent Job. He added a few special effects that really added to the story. Not music which I hate in audio books.

Fantastic Story brought to life by Fantastic Narra
Would you listen to The Forever Saga again? Why?
I really enjoyed this book. The description and attention to detail are fantastic. Which really creates the mental picture we look for in SciFi. Chris does a fantastic job of creating drama and easily differentiates between characters. All in all, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Can't wait for the next one!!!
What other book might you compare The Forever Saga to and why?
I'm usually a Mystery/Suspense listener, but this was a nice change of pace. I will listen to its sequel.
What does Chris Andrew Ciulla bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
He's a great narrator. Good pacing. Nice cadence. Brings color to characters. Appropriate accents and range. Kept me in the story for the entire run.
Beginning is slow but hang in there
Brian Renney is a war hero, only no one really knows it; no one except his men from Vietnam, especially Gregory Geist. Now, 40 years later, Geist wants to take over the world and he thinks he must eliminate Brian to have any hope of doing so. Geist sends one of his Vaucan to do the job; not just any Vaucan, but the most powerful of them, Prince Ahya.
Jason Renney is a college superstar, all but guaranteed to get drafted into the NHL. Hes a busy man with a lot on his plate: He needs to impress the pro scouts, major in psychology, win the heart of the woman he loves, and stop human trafficking in Altanta. All of this while still trying to make his father proud. A father that has been distant and is seemingly impossible to be made proud.
This book was a little bit of a slow starter, it began as more of a family drama than a Sci-Fi book. Not that Im complaining, it was good, well written storytelling. I rather enjoyed that aspect of the story and it carried on throughout the book. It was about 1/3 of the way through the book before it really picked up the pace. Enter Prince Ayha; sent to destroy Brian and his family, but has a change of heart and ends up saving them. After which he gets aid from Brian to help improve his skills and fight the evil that Geist has sent after themand the world. Does Brian still have what it takes to be a commander and hero?
Meanwhile, Jason sets off to Atlanta with is friends in hopes of helping stop the human trafficking problem that has developed there, only to find out there is more to it than meets the eye; and who is Gregory Geist?
This book was very well rounded, it has a little bit for everyone. Of course giant fighting robots were the selling point for me.

    Publisher's Summary:
Will the rise of machines result in our becoming slaves? What is the human consciousness? Science fiction fans whose typical Hollywood diet of future killer robots may not have considered the very real possibility that, when quantum computing gives rise to artificial intelligence, its rate of technological advancement will not only become exponential, but it will apprehend quickly (and scarily to us) who we are, and who IT is, especially if this A.I. has instant access to all human knowledge (and so would be able to make connections both faster and never before conceived). Such a being would seem like a god, and there is no reason to assume it would have our human, ego driven flaws. In fact, it may intend to save us from ourselves...but in a way that might be even more frightening than the extinction we are moving toward in our own insanity.

What did you like best about this story?
I loved the fast pace, and the story kept me engaged and constantly wanting to keep listening. What made the experience of listening to Transcendence 2 the most enjoyable?
Lowe manages to pack in the social, the political, and the personal in a single, hour-long story about a government-related computer project gone rogue (literally, the computer gone rogue). His wryly humorous protagonist seems the most grounded of them all--or perhaps the mostly deeply in denial--about the future being shaped for the planet by the Nexus system. Lowe wisely leaves the story with room for interpretation--and further development. I for one would enjoy hearing this story either retold from multiple perspectives or with additional subplots/characters, creating a series of short stories or in essence a full-length novel from this novella.
