Entertaining and Enlightening

John Hailman is truly a master storyteller, befitting a man who adopted Mississippi, a state known for its famous storytellers, as his own. After reading Midnight to Guntown, I looked forward to Return to Guntown and was not disappointed. As a prosecutor, Mr. Hailman came into contact with amazingly colorful characters, ranging from criminals to law enforcement and attorneys, and his writing skills bring them to life for the reader. The stories are many times hilarious, sometimes touching, extremely enlightening, and always entertaining.

Awful Narration Messes Up an Interesting Book

What would have made Justice in America better?

Change the narrator. It baffles me that Mr. Colasurd has narrated other books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Justice in America?

The parts where the narrator refers to the book as "Justice On America". It happens multiple times.

What didnt you like about Don Colasurd Jr.s performance?

His stilted delivery. The fact that he pretty much ignores punctuation. That he mispronounces and mumbles through a bunch of different words multiple times. I had to repeat what he was saying in my head sometimes to make sense of it. It was very distracting.

Any additional comments?

I might actually buy the hardcover or ebook version of this book because the story was really interesting. There were a lot of things about the Anthony Case in this book that Jose Baez didn't go into in his book. If were Mr. Mason, I'd be very upset about what the narrator did to my book and demand that it be redone by someone else.

This an extraordinary autobiography of man with "Nationalist Ideals" and grave problems with authority figures and structures. He appear to recognize his character flaws as he ends up interned with IRA militants interned by the British in Northern Ireland.The conditions of his imprisonment read like Devil's Island. After his release he sojourns to New York and attempt to hijack a "Brinks'"truck which ends in a tragic -comic series of events that even a movie thriller script writer would have difficulty imaging.Me. One of the better books I have read so far this year.

Amazing Life Lived

Sam Millar writes some of the best noir fiction being published today and after reading this biography, it is easy to see where he gets his inspiration. Millar has lived a life that is truly fit to be made into a movie and I for one hope this book ends up in a movie format.

Millar's tale begins during his early years in Belfast and then recants his time spent in some of the most deplorable prison conditions I have read about. The fact that these conditions are far from fiction only add to the mystique to his life. The fact that he survived the brutalities he writes of without breaking and all the while staying true to his ideals speaks highly of his convictions and desire to stay true to himself and the causes of his comrades.

The retelling of the Brink's robbery reads like a well plotted action novel and I found myself fascinated that this was all a part of Millar's unbelievable life experiences. This biography is a must read for true-crime fans, noir fans and fans of all types of well written books. As a teacher, I think this would make a great reading assignment for older high school and college students, as the themes that run through this bio are very engaging and the book is well written.

Don't waste your money on a poorly written self serving book

This book is full of contradictions and omissions. It will no doubt appeal to the 5th generation Oirish American longing for freedom for the old country. The short two page chapters topped of by irrelevant quotes serve to distract and take away from what should be a longer narrative. Don't waste your money on a poorly written self serving book.

Concise accounts of famous FBI cases

Volume 2 of Top Cases of the FBI does not disappoint. Cases like Machine Gun Kelly, the Black Dahlia, the Walker Spy Ring, and Pan Am 103 are discussed in understandable language. I learned much about the Enron scandal as well as the Hurricane Katrina fraud cases. I need to delve further into the Ku Klux Klan and the Brink's robbery, for there is more I want to know.

I hope there will be a Volume 3.

Can't wait for Volume 3!!!!

Volume 2 of Top Cases of the FBI includes such fascinating stories such as the Black Dahlia, undercover FBI Agent Joseph Pistone, The KKK, Enron Scandal, Hurricane Katrina Fraud cases plus many many more excellent stories - I can not wait for Volume 3!!!! Another must read for all true crime readers ;)

A must-read for true crime readers.

This fascinating book contains many cases of various topics about famous groups such as the KKK, natural disaster fraud, gangsters, bombings and so much more. I found it hard to put this book down and Iâm very much looking forward to a third!

Interesting read

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in FBI cases & true crime. Some of the news worthy cases are mentioned in this book from the Black Dalia to the KKK and Donnie Brasco ( to name a few). Great read.

I found this volume of Top cases of FBI readable, educate and enjoyable.. The author gives a very great interesting read covering all types of information about crime cases that FBI are tackles. This series of story shows great work FBI are doing most especially undercover investigations departments, i like it and i will recommend for others to read.

The narrator is unfamiliar with the material, and makes very awkward mid-sentence pauses, followed by emphasis on the next word. This obscures the meaning of the sentences. This affects the continuity of the story, because the listener has been distracted.

Interesting read...

Here is another great book! I just can't believe a person can so these horrific crimes. What I love about the book is that the author brings us to know more about Dahmer than we ever have known. Nowhere were the facts ever printed or released, to my knowledge. I know that the author took a great amount of time to research it as well as it was written. It was a very descriptive book as far as knowing more about Dahmer, than knowing about his brutal acts of crime. Even though, yes, we did know what and how Jeffrey performed these violent acts. I have to say about Dahmer was that he did try to fight his demons with alcohol. At least he tried that much, things didn't turn out the best way as he thought it might. He eventually became an alcoholic, and still had to fight the demons. Alcohol never suppressed it. I felt sorry for him in that sense. He also said at the end, that he couldn't blame his parents for his childhood, That might be a first, to me. I don't know, I thought all or most serial killers put the blame on someone else, especially the parents. Maybe, if the parents were more attentive to him, and not his brother, maybe they could have done something. But, there is no getting away with it, he still was a demented demon. This book will give you all the information of the time killing spree of Dahmer. While reading the book,my hair in the nape raise.This is a very interesting read.

Great Story about true crime with all serial killers!

I love reading true crime and this book brings home the evil that surrounds us and the writing is factual and the story line is great and amazing to know there are so many and I am sure there are many more and we will know soon enough when Jack publishes another book, which is probably, now.! I am very surprised to read there are that many who eat the flesh. Oh! How gross, disgusting, sick, twisted, totally insane and unheard of, awful, just awful and that's where I was getting stomach sick. Especially, since I was munching on Cheetos at the same time as I am reading. So, when I get anxious, nothing new for me, and I am reading Jack's book, I seem to eat faster cause I am so engrossed in the book and these stories, all, were so intriguing and all so different. Mr. Stich spends a lot of time researching, as we all can imagine and ibelieve, Jack, you have outdone yourself, again! Great job! and I have always been fascinated by serial criminals, mostly what makes them tick, hence my career in law enforcement. and these books were factual and to the point while giving personal info and they also covered some less known killers and i really enjoy reading this book. Simply, a must have for the true crime enthusiast.
