Good story and Narration!

This was an enjoyable story. I really liked both the main characters Griffin and Adel. They made a good match. There was some good chemistry and attraction, no sex but it did not take away from a great story.

The story line and plot was good. I liked getting to know these characters and there was a couple surprises thrown in. There was a lot of great dialogue throughout the entire book, not full of filler nonsense or rambling thoughts full of misunderstandings. A real treat.

As for the narration it was great. I really like Tristan Hunt. He does the women's voices so well and has a very nice reading voice. Everyone gets their own distinct voice. He reads with emotion and does do a sexy voice for the hero of the story.

Great read and listen..

I liked this book much better than Her Unconventional Suitor and I was able to read it without thinking of how much I disliked Griffin in the first book. In fact I liked Griffin and I understood why he did the things he did. I liked Adel, too. They both suffered from the loss of their mothers so they both did stupid things because of it.

This story was also better than the first because of Griffin having a sister, Rose, that was terrible abused and the fact that her husband, Lord Moncreif, went after Adel and tried to kill her. More drama! More excitement! A much better book.

Except for Lord Moncreif I did like the characters: Benedict, Warren, Marcus, Rose, Katherine and Aunt Tabitha, all the characters really!

There was some nice desire in this story, between Griffin and Adel, but there was no swearing.

As to the narration: Tristan Hunt did a great job on all the voices and with his emotions BUT there was one place that he did a really terrible job. Griffin had been unconscious for a day or so and when he came to he was still in pain and only semi-conscious but when he talked to Adel, just before he blacked out again, he spoke to her like he did every other time; no weakness, no tiredness, no nothing. Just the usual talk. Personally, I thought that was awful reading.

I loved it.

I loved it! The story flowed well and was well written. It left me wanting to know what happens next.

Love it...

Good Story

What other book might you compare Return to Quail Crossings to and why?

I have a hard time comparing books since each one has its own unique flavor. This story was filled with twists and secrets that made it stand on its own.

Have you listened to any of Talmadge Ragans other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first time listening to her but she did a great job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The renewing of the vows in the orchid.

Any additional comments?

I got this ARC via audio book boom. I enjoyed the way the author treated the things that happened during this time period. She did not sugar coat the racism that existed nor did she paint an inaccurate picture. The several love stories that were woven throughout the book gave it more depth.

So easy to listen to...

The narration was spot on, it made this book so easy to listen to that I almost forgot that I needed to go to sleep. There are a couple of mistakes that weren't edited out so the audio repeats briefly a couple of times but they're short and don't have much impact. The flow of the narration is great with goof pacing and phrasing. The character voices all come out really well and you can tell who is talking from the voice.

The story is excellent, it seems very realistic and the characters are all well developed and lifelike. There are a few twists and secrets that are revealed along the way which keeps adding complexity and further interest into the story.

I was completely wrapped up int he story of Evalyn, Joy and Robert, the story and character interaction are beautifully written.

McMurrain creates heartwarming characters

What did you love best about Return to Quail Crossings?

I enjoyed the various romantic story lines between Bill & LouAnne, Dovey & Gabe, Tiny & Elmer, Emily & Robert. But, I also enjoyed the other story lines dealing with racism in the South and the twister.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the humor, the family drama and the eloquent writing of Ms McMurrain

Which character as performed by Talmadge Ragan was your favorite?

My favorite character was by far, Dovey. Throughout the entire narration, it sounded like Ms. Ragan had a head cold (nasal sounds could be heard when she said various words). But, I will be the first to admit, this added to the overall gentle and southern feel of the story.

Couldn't get into the story

I won this in a Goodreads giveaway.

This is the first that I have read by Liz Rosenberg.There are plenty of reviews giving a synopsis of the book so I won't.

I liked the authors writing style. The story is set in the 1950's and the writing reflected that nicely. The story, however, wasn't what I was expecting. The description (Fraught with betrayal and long-kept secrets) led me to believe that there would be more intrigue in the plot.

Libby starts out a very independent woman. She doesn't want the life that a woman in the time period is expected to lead. She wants the freedom to be herself, but then she inexplicably marries. She meets the man and the story jumps to her being married to him. How and why did this come about?

If you lean toward this genre, then this might interest you. I just couldn't get into the story line.

A Fatal Flaw

This could have been so good. However it revolves around tragic marriage. The reasons for the marriage are never explained. That whole part is left out. It's crucial.

Not what I expected

Never really connected with the characters, let down by their lack of depth. Ultimately, I challenged myself to finish it just to prove it wasn't going to get better.

MY THOUGHTS:

A dual time line story with a mystery at its core,Vivian In Redcaptured my interest immediately. Why did the vision of Vivian Adair topple poor Milo, and catapult him into the past via visions he now sees and cannot describe, as he has lost his voice?

Granddaughter Eleanor is aware of the visions, although she does not know the meaning. She may be onto something, however, as a stranger named Alexander has called to ask about Milo, and to suggest a more than passing connection between Milo and Vivian.

I liked how the story unfolded by showing us moments in the past, along with Eleanorâs searches from the present while interviewing Milo as best she can. Through gestures and yes and no questions, she finds out more than any of the others have managed. I felt a connection with Eleanor, the grandchild without parents, the condescension she feels from the aunts, uncles, and cousins. The one they now turn to for this final tribute to Milo: a biography that will come out at the same time as a musical revival from the past.

Miloâs son Paul and daughter Rebekah were annoying in the way they demanded things from Eleanor, so I was happy when she started standing up for herself, making them realize that she will do what she can, but at her own pace.

Her boyfriend Daniel has left her, so moving into her grandfatherâs home feels right. While interviewing Milo and doing her research, she has time to ponder her choices.

From the glimpses into the past that revealed Vivianâs layers, I had mixed feelings about her. She seemed like a manipulative user who somehow captivated Milo, and is now holding him hostage in his silence.

Great read and narration..

I was a little surprised that Quent talked so openly to his friends, Garrick and Thorn, and then to his sisters Grace, Hope and Patience. It was like a teenager talking about some girl he had a crush on, instead of a woman hed danced with and kissed at a ball, before she disappeared. The wording was kind of teenagerish. Except for the way the chats had struck me it was enjoyable. I did like the paranormal aspect of it.

Overall, this was a very good book and the characters were great too. I loved every one of them except Vicar Southward. He was an A-hole but we were never really told why he disliked Quent so much, or why he constantly yelled at his daughters and niece or why he insisted on complete and total silence in the house. He really was an absolute jerk throughout the entire book. I loved the haunted castle and the possession, though. I like anything paranormal, especially ghosts. (Cindy Miles has some awesome Ghost Romances I read over and over again.)

There was no sex in this story but it was such an entertaining story that the lack of sex was fine. However, the word c*ck was used, sexually, 2 times, I have no idea why. And there was no swearing.

As to the narration: WOW! The vicar was a little cray-cray and Stevie Zimmerman made him sound just like he should. The men sounded like they should and the women all had their own voices. She read with great emotions, too. SZ did a wonderful job on this book.

A haunted historical romance.

I love Ava Stone and Stevie Zimmerman, a guaranteed success! As such I didn't really look at what I was buying and was surprised to back at the haunted castle again. Why I momentarily worried I don't know since I was soon swept into a new mystery while rooting for Lila, an angel, and a love story.

Narrator: Perfection, as always!

Heat Factor: Utterly non existent.

First Comes Marriage, Then Comes Love

I don't normally read Regency romance but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing in The Debutante Bride by Wendy May Andrews as well as the storyline. For fans for Regency romance, this is sure to be a book you can snuggle up with and live for a time when the class system was alive and well.

It Doesn't Get Much Sweeter Than This

This was a charming story of a couple whose relationship was filled with confusion as society continually whispered, shared gossip and their assumptions on how a young newly married Countess should appear before the Ton.

The pace of her heartbeat at the sight of Lord Justin Fulton was nothing compared to the expectations and fear that gripped Beth's heart when she heard she was to marry him.

Thankfully Justin's attraction to Beth and his honorable nature made me root for them throughout the whole story. Were they able to dispel of the confusion and avoid the schemes of those with less than auspicious motives to find their way to a happy ending? You'll have to find out for yourself.

What I will share is that the author's unique writing style brought me into the minds of each character insuring an overall enjoyable reading experience.

This was a fun read. Not memorable

This was a fun read. Not memorable, but entertaining. And I definitely feel like for $1, I got a good bit of entertainment.

The characters were likable and the story had a lot of potential, but it just didn't quite get there. The conflicts were set up and I was looking forward to seeing how it all played out, and then the ending unraveled for me. It rushed through the resolutions in a way that wasn't authentic to the conflicts and emotional issues presented in the story. It didn't ruin the book completely, but it didn't endear the story to me.

Like I said, the story had potential and was enjoyable, but just tripped at the finish line. It pulled me in enough that I'm curious to check out the author's other books, to see if maybe they're a little better.

Delightful!

This book draws you in very quickly, and keeps you amused wondering if, and when, the newlyweds will finally come together as husband and wife. Would be a great read for anyone needing a smattering of romance.

Great series!

Oh, this series just keeps on getting better and better.

This story tells us about the challenges facing Wild Wind, a Cheyanne Brave, and Roxie and the influences, bad from various town folk because of racialism and the good from all their friends and her family.

We also learn about the lady minister's new romance and the split personalities she becomes involved with and we also come into contact with the new school teacher and the love of his life.

Marvin and Shadow, "The Terrible Twins", as I have name them, have reformed and are model citizens. Of course this series wouldn't be complete without all the other residents that we have already read about in the earlier stories of this series.

All these characters and their involvement and interaction helps to make this an engrossing book and audiobook experience and makes me want to read and listen to more of this author's works.

Lawrence D. Yaklin's telling of the story is up to his normal performance which is great.

Woman who lost her family on the trail chose a widower as her trail husband; but someone has designs on her and her belongings..

Trail of Hope is a historical romance in the trope related to mail order bride known as "trail bride", basically hurried marriages along the Oregon trail. the plot was excellent, starting with hopelessness and sadness and gradually moving higher to an HEA from a forced pairing, along with some prior wounds and external factors complicating the trip. However, some of that were tropes as well.

Callie Lewis never wanted to move west, but when her brother and his family is going to Oregon, she followed. She never expected her brother's family including his wife and child to all succumb to trail illness, leaving her alone to manage the family's belongings. To at least partially complete the trip, Callie is encouraged to choose a trail husband, and after careful consideration, she chose John Rye, a grieving widower making a delivery to Denver City. But bad things plagued the wagon train. The miners are almost always gambling and fighting, then one of them lost the deed to the gold mine he inherited from his brother. Then the reverend can't seem to preach properly or even wed John and Callie properly. Then someone was caught pilfering items from Callie's belongings. When a tornado touched down not far from the wagon train John was finally awoken from the fugue to embrace Callie's love. But there are others with designs on his wife... or her belongings. John must protect his bride and catch a thief to protect their future.

The grieving widower was such a trope, but the B-plot (which will not be spoiled) covered that nicely. Let's just say some folks in the convoy are not whom they seem to be, and how that worked out... was slightly trope as well, but the ending was quite nicely done. All in all, enjoyable tale.

Trail of Hope

Trail of Hope is the second book in the Hot on the Trail series. Can be read as a stand alone. But it does follow the same wagon train as the first book. In this one Callie had lost her brother and his family to fever. Alone now on the wagon train, leaves her in danger from other men. After a suggestion for her to marry she gives it some thought. Only being two men that fit that bill she as to make a choice. John Rye who is still struggling with the death of his wife six months before. A quiet man that mainly keeps to himself. Elton Finch who is younger and friendly. Two men headed to two different places and occupations.

This was a sweet story, Maggie is driven and Ethan is a loner.

However, they both are filled with determination and a will to make their marriage work.

Overall, this was a good clean romance that was a worthwhile read or listen.

Alan Taylor did really well with the narration, his voice was clear and calming.

A bride for Ethan

Overall review for Sun River Brides, books 2-5: Karla Gracey's Mail Order Bride series is a series of sweet romantic shortstories. The stories are very fast-paced and only told - not showed. In some books I didn't connect with the characters at all. You won't get much background stories to the characters' lives and in some points you only get the point of view from one of them. These books are good entertainment if you need a short listen once in a while.

About 'A Bride for Ethan': In this story Maggie and Ethan corresponds and finds out that they are 'childhood sweethearts' - if that's a thing. Again I had a problem with a wedding two days after they were re-united. These stories doesn't have much passion and romance either. It's like the characters do what they believe is most sensible, not what their heart tells them to do. I need to FEEL them, but I don't. I miss the passion and romance from Barbara Cartland and the drama and storyline from Danielle Steel. If you love that too, these books are not for you.

Alan Taylor did a very good job in narrating this series and has a very pleasant voice and made characters come to life. I'd love to hear him in other books as well.

I love these books they are sweet and romantic. In this book in particular I love the fact that Maggie is a strong woman and not some passive overly feminine character. I also liked the fact that Ethan was looking for her for years after their first romance knowing he wanted no one but her.
