    Waiting On Book 2
I found this story to be a very nice change from some of the other mail order brides books. This bride came with her own money and a very independent streak that boded well for her groom. He knew from the start that she would be good for the land and him. I loved the way the maid became her friend and no longer a servant. I can't wait for book 2 and hope that it is the maids romance. The narrator was very good although the sound editing could have been better. He made the story come alive although his laughter parts were a bit stilted.
I was gven this book via audiobook boom in exchange for an honest review.
    Well Written. Well Narrated.
Lady Moria leaves a castle in Ireland to avoid a loveless marriage, only to realize her uncle has forged documents to force in to a marriage with a stranger in Montana. Pryor waits for his bride at the train, not expecting the strong will woman who will not marry out of convince.
The plot sounds over used and predicable, however the writing is very well done and the plight of women of royal birth expressed well that the book came alive for me.an excellent, clean read. I will read more from Amelia Rose. The male narrator often does women's voices better than women do men's voices.
    An Unexpected Pleasant Surprise..
    Any additional comments?
Moira, the female lead, left her Home for America to protect her brother and to avoid an arranged marriage.
Next, She decides to become a landowner in Montana.
When she arrives in Montana she meets Pryor. the male lead, and he offers her a marriage contract.
    Things aren't what they "seem".
There is an underhanded scheme going on while the romance develops slowly.
Overall, this book was a quick, clean western romance.
Charles D Baker did well with the Narration.
    Note:
"This audio book was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review."
    Cute short story
    Any additional comments?
I liked the book. The plot was good although I wish it was longer I do feel it was bit rushed. The narrator was great. The descriptions of the settings and times were on point I felt as if I knew exactly where they were and what the setting looked like.

    Can't mentally deal with this
I was too angry to finish this book.
    Spoilers ahead.
I would rather be beaten to death rather than be forced to have sex, and then carry that child? Not I.
and so to have this young girl not fight when she had the chance to, to not run away when she wasn't restrained, to sit there and wait for her boss at her workstation to be raped filled me with such rage. I've read books with sensitive scenes before but, shit, never has the female prota- just accept such a dark fate.
No reasoning was enough. it wasn't an unfair fight, she just sat there and waited, knew what was about to happen and accepted it!
The narrator was seemingly nonchalant. Also, for this older woman to read the book was perhaps not the best call. It was odd to capture all of the inflections needed to make her sound like a 15-20 year old girl.
    didn't finish.
    book needs a sensitivity warning.

    Historical Romance Brain Candy
    Any additional comments?
The Audible version of Scandalous Endeavors: Ladies and Scoundrels, Book 2 by Amanda Mariel is a fun Regency romance that is entertaining and can be enjoyed in one day. It's what I call "brain candy" - one can sit back, relax, and enjoy it without having to think too much about the plot or world issues.
    Wonderful love story!
Julian was a notorious rake whose pride kept him from telling Sarah that he loved her. She knew of his ruinous ways and when he admitted to her his father was going to cut him off without a penny if he didn't marry soon, she ran from him. Great story!
    Disappointing storyline.

    Publisher's Summary:
When Gidry Chavis returns to his Texas hometown to reconcile with his dying father, he must also face Prudence Belmont, the fiancé he jilted eight years ago with no more than a brief note, a woman who is no longer a gullible girl but a determined grownup with ideas of her own. Pamela Morsi's strong sense of time (the 1890s) and place and lightly realistic humor add to a gentle romance that is pure Americana and purely charming. Roses, streetlights, and a pair of well-matched protagonists combine in this well-written, captivating story of rekindled love that will definitely appeal to Morsi's many fans. Morsi is a Rita award-winning writer and lives in San Antonio.
From the first moment she met her new Texas neighbor, Prudence Belmont was in love. When she was old enough for marriage, Gidry Chavis promptly presented her with an engagement ring, and all her dreams seemed to have come true. But the hellraising Gidry disappeared before the wedding, leaving only a brief note in explanation. "My dear Miss Prudence, I have determined that it is best that we do not wed. Please forgive me and recall me with fondness." Now Chavistown's notorious favorite son is back, wiser, remorseful, sunbrowned and manly. Everyone in town has accepted his transformation to a hardworking town leader - all except Pru. After all, only a man with wicked thoughts could believe that she, the president of the Ladies' Rose and Garden Society, would mail out racy postcards, and only a cad would demand bribes of kisses to keep quiet. If he thinks he can win her love again, he's wrong. Or is he? "My only lover, I am ready to fulfill your every desire, if you will agree to grant my dearest wish...Yours soon to be..."

    Love Lessons Learned
This is a very well written and narrated story of love, rejection, redemption, and love. It is a sweet "Life" story that is based on coping with rejection. The story is true to life and the endearing characters are ordinary people who have hurts, fears, resentment and regrets. It really shows how love comes to everyone differently and how decisions and reactions (good or bad) can change the outcome of your future. Good lessons to live buy.
Put this one on your list when you are looking for a thoughtful story with great narration.
I would like to thank the author, narrator and/or publisher for giving me this audiobook at my request in exchange for my unbiased review ;-)
Excellent Update to Texan Historical Romance!
    Any additional comments?
Rating 3.5 stars. Sealed With a Kiss by Pamela Morsi just received an excellent update with an audiobook narration. Originally published in 1998, Sealed With a Kiss is set in 1890's Texas and centers around Prudence Belmont and Gidry Chavis. The story begins with Gidry's return to town after his father experiences a stroke in the town's cotton gin. He hasn't been to town for eight long years because he and his father exchanged harsh words when Gidry ran off with a bar maid from the local saloon, despite being betrothed to Prudence. Sparks fly between the pair almost immediately upon his return, and there are several misunderstandings that need to be cleared up before Prudence can forgive Gidry.
What I enjoyed most about at the story were the great secondary characters. Prudence's aunt is amazing and held onto her first love for 50 years.

    I liked it
It was entertaining and a clean read. The only part I did not like was the graphic death of one of the of the war department spy's and that jackel was injured again.
    Pretty good story here!
Unlike the majority of stories I read or listen to (audiobooks), I was left with not a single question by the end of this story. Very rare! Ms. Gray wrote a really good story that made sense. Rupert was my favorite character because he led a very interesting sounding life and it was hard to believe all the injuries he'd sustained. If this were made into a movie, I'd be curious to see the male character chosen for Rupert's part, especially how his body would look after all the scars and injuries were added.

Book #2 in the series and let me say before I go any further that this is one of those series that you really should start at book 1, so be warned that the things I say may be spoilers, so only read on if you are willing to be just a little spoiled.
Just like in the first book, there are two storylines, the present day at Peach Orchard Inn and a historical storyline at the same Peach Orchard Inn. The present day storyline focuses on a different main character from the first - Hayden is a visiting writer who decided to head to this small town in Tennessee to write his next hit. The historical storyline picks up shortly after the first book and although focuses on a different character, this one seemed a little more cohesive to the first book compared to the present day story. I adored that the historical storyline continued on. I loved that it was fluid from one book to the next.
Author Linda Goodnight's writing keeps getting better.
Linda Goodnight is the best author, I know. Each book I read just shows how talented she is and how she keeps progressing. She is truly the sweetest and most giving Christian.

    this crusader captured my heart
I thought the first book in the series was awesome, this second story is even better. I didn't really like Wulfe in the first book, but did he change my opinion in this one! He is more than lovable and I admire the way he made his way in life keeping his integrity solid, his tender heart, despite the hardship. And Christina... more than meets the eye, and her story is equally heart wrenching. As usual Ms. Delacroix takes us on an adventure to remember and gives the characters the HEA they so deserve.
Really enjoyed Mr. Reynolds telling of this story, he made me forget that I was actually listening, it felt like I was there watching the story unfold. Thank you!
A great way to travel back to Templar Times
What did you love best about The Crusader's Heart?
The stars of this show are not as opposite as you might at first think and the beautiful ending and the courage and endurance of her heroine make this a real stand out.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Wolf because of his noble character
Which character as performed by Tim Gerard Reynold was your favorite?
    Wolf
    A Tender Hearted Wulfe
This second book in the series The Champions of Saint Euphemia, was a delight to read! It always warms my heart when I find a book where the hero is valiant, yet tender hearted. I like the way this author seamlessly weaves together several stories that occur at or around the same time without seeming to miss a beat. Oddly enough, the way she described how Juliana became Christina, was in fact an often seen, factual occurrence, of the times. It wasn't like she made her choice lightly. For all of Wulfe's bluster in the first book, you might be surprised to discover the reasons behind his actions and how similar the two lead characters actually were. Since I am not Catholic, I am not familia with all the Saints, though have often been intrigued by their stories, so I was amazed at the amount of research that had to have gone into this book. I also bought and listened to the audio version, narrated by Tim Gerard Reynolds. I love listening to his narrations as he seems to bring heart to an already well written book with his gifted ability to pull you into the story. If you enjoyed her series The Jewels of Kinfairly, you should be very happy reading this series as well.

Could she believe in herself when no one else did?
A progressive thinker in 1892 Montana, Delphina O'Connor believed God-given dreams for women didn't stop at marriage and children. Hers might not include a husband or family at all. So when Hugh Thomas rescues the new swimming instructor at the elegant Broadwater Natatorium from near drowning in the plunge, how can anyone believe the freedom to enjoy swimming, competition, and a healthy body is an appropriate activity for a proper lady? Hugh is about to find out status quo is the starting line for a courageous woman with a dream!
Taking the Plunge explores the real-world question: What do you do when you think differently than the world around you?
    Members Reviews:
    Dreams can come true
Taking the Plunge by Angela Breidenbach is a charming story of time past in Helena, Montana. Delphina, a woman who knows her own mind and supports the suffragette movement has come to the Hotel Broadwater and Natatorium to be the ornamental swim teacher for females. Her first encounter with Hugh, the manager, and teacher for the boys comes with a splash and some scolding remarks. Hotel owner, Mr. Broadwater, expects them to work together but Delphina's not so sure about that. How can they ever work as a team when their philosophies of life clash? Can they make a way to become partners long enough to help the new natatorium successful? In this 3rd installment of the Montana Beginnings series, the author gives a glimpse of history, a sweet romance with delightful characters, and a story of faith in a God who works in our lives to make dreams come true.
The narration of the audiobook by Tristan Leder was well done and made the book enjoyable to listen to. I was given an audio copy of the book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
    My Favorite so far
The author manages to pack so much romance, history, and community interaction into this novella, I felt like I had read a longer novel.
This is the story of growth: The growth of a relationship, The growth of independence for women, The growth of a community in the formerly wild West.
    Highly recommended.
    Plunge Into a Good Book
Would you listen to Taking the Plunge again? Why?
Yes I would. It was a fantastic story. This was my first book by Ms. Breidenbach. It was set in a period in time that I enjoy visiting as often as I can. The characters were well thought out, the story moved at a really great pace, and the banter (and accidents) that happened between Delphina and Hugh were enjoyable and fun to listen to.
Who was your favorite character and why?
By far my favorite character was Delphina. She had different dreams. She didn't want to rush into marriage and a family. I loved how spirited she was from right out of the gate. We meet her as she dives into a pool to save a drowning child. Her spirited energy and fire kept me cheering her on. Also coming from a long line of suffragettes it was great to see this time period captured so well in the book.
What does Tristan Leder bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
She kept me safe while I drove my car. That's a plus! She did pretty well with the reading of the book. I only have one small tiny issue that did not take away from the integrity of the story. There was a part where a child had an Irish accent. The child went from having no accent to a major accent in the span of several pages.

    A bit sophomoric.
Historical romances are not expected to be great literature but I do expect a well thought out story. This one was not bad - just very improbable. I found that unsatisfactory.
    Wonderful melodrama and great romance
If you like your romances with a good side of steam this is for you. Lots of entanglements, great characters, vivid storytelling and drama. Excellent audio and exciting to listen to. Lots of variety in the narration - brought the characters really to life.
    Captivating, intriguing and romantic.
Have you listened to any of Stevie Zimmermans other performances before? How does this one compare?
Stevie Zimmerman did a nice job narrating.

    Treacherous Temptations
    By Victoria Vane
Happy living in the beautiful English countryside, Mary Elizabeth Edwardes is coming to terms with the death of her father. When her devious and unscrupulous uncle disrupts her peaceful existence. With an heiress as his ward, her uncle develops a scheme which will forever change Mary's life.
A dissolute nobleman wrongly stripped of his title, lands and estates is bent on revenge. He soon realizes the man who striped him of everything is the uncle of the most refreshing, honest and enchanting woman he's ever met. Lord Hadley Blanchard is most confused by what he feels for Mary, as he's still intertwined in a twisted, dubious triangle.
A triangle of dark, sexual deceit motivated by greed.
Mary is a refreshing surprise, pure, sweet and kind. She is a beautiful light in a this plot filled with the most creatively devious people in England. Treacherous Temptations is the perfect name for this story. Author Victoria Vane intricately weaves darkness and light in this story exceptionally well. A refreshing, potent story of one woman bringing beautiful, blinding light into one man's dark bleak world, through the gift of pure love. I truly loved this story.
