    A very good short story
You shouldn't skip this one. It contains a lot of interesting information, and is quite entertaining. :) The price is a bit high though.
    Cooley is my favorite writer...
I read 100+ novels a year and Trevor is my favorite. Every single book delivers a classic fantasy adventure without a bunch of needless curse words and just enough sexuality to remind us that we are human.... Fantastic job Trevor. Thank you for introducing such awesome personalities into my life throughout this entire series. Time to start the next book!
    awesome story
great stand alone in the series.love the continuity of the story and development of seondary characters
    Fantastic!
Love the series! I will certainly be finishing the entire thing. Keeps me very interested at all turns.
This book is a fabulous tangent for the Bowl of Souls series. It provides awesome context and will give you a bigger love for Hilt and Beth. Definitely recommend!!

    ABSOLUTELY GREAT SERIES!
I first read this series several years ago, and absolutely loved it. It has it all ... combines numerous genres into one hell of a series. While running through my books again last week, I started the series over. I'm still so amazed at how much I love the storyline, the characters, the good, bad, ugly, beautiful, magic, love , hate... I just wish more of the series were on audio books. Great job Ms. White. Can't wait to keep reading.
    Good book
Great book but it sure leaves you hanging.. I sure hope the third book comes soon..
WHERE IS THE REST OF SERIES
Where does On the Road rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    Top 10
What was one of the most memorable moments of On the Road?
The whole book from start to finish was outstanding and Plummer brought it to life.
Which character as performed by Therese Plummer was your favorite?
All characters Plummer does is the best. She is number one in narration!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I most definitely could have listen to this book in one sitting, but had, reluctantly, put it down several times. So it took me 2 days.
    Any additional comments?
Need rest of books in the series
    Great narrator and great author
I am an avid Angela White fan. Incredible books, incredible storyline and characters who never leave your head. Worth every dime and minute. This is book two.

    liked the book but...
I enjoyed the book overall but the narrator sounds different. I'm not quite sure why when it says it is the same one. but the still has the great sorry I've come to expect.
Finally! I stubornly waited for Audio versions
I had completely given up on the series since Monk's publisher didn't release audio for so long! So worth the wait and the two final books gave me a reason to re-listen to the series start to finish.
Hopefully, the two books about Shame and Terric make it to Audible one of these days!

How to ruin a good audio series
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Mary Robinette Kowal has narrated all prior books in this series, and they've been great. What possessed anyone to change the presentation to a performance is beyond me. The male narrator ............. talks ......... like this ...... and ....... it's really ............. annoying. The handoff between character voices isn't particularly smooth either.
It was really difficult to persevere through this book and it's a disappointing latest installment to the series. I don't think I could get through another one like this.
    A Masterpiece!
As this is the 5th book in this series, I came to it with many expectations. I can honestly say that every one was met, surpassed, and left me wondering why I had sold the book's potential so short.
By several chapters in I was already going on about the narration--wonderful. I was surprised by the inclusion of other narrators since Mary Robinette Kowal has done the work by herself for all of the previous books, but the performance was so smooth that I easily lost myself in the narrative.
I felt myself drawn into this story, feeling the heartaches and frustrations as though they were my own. I was moved to furious rage and felt desperate powerlessness as well as wonder and joy. In short, I was transported into this story like few I've ever experienced. I laughed out loud and was moved to tears. I stopped in the middle of chapters to bug my wife with the "amazing thing" I'd just read.
There is so much I want to say about this story, but I don't want to give away spoilers, and I don't have space to write so much here. And I'd much rather you read the book for yourself than listen to me talk about it.
I HIGHLY recommend this book! Of Noble Family is easily one of the best books I've ever read.

    Not the stainless steel rat
I picked this book because I love Harry Harrison's stainless steal rat. It had parts that were fun but I think it tried to be a little too cute. What worked in the stainless steel rat was more raw and uncultivated here. The humor was lowbrow in fact so lowbrow that sometimes it really was funny. With this being the first in the series I am 50/50 on the fence whether I'll continue with the next book.
Fun story but overall of limited entertainment
After reading some of the series previously, I found the readers representation of the characters a little whiney. The story us also a little too silly.
    Excellent narrator horrible story
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The Hank books are much better than these.
Would you ever listen to anything by Harry Harrison again?
Not sure, remembered the Bill stories being better.
What about Christian Rummels performance did you like?
    He is excellent.

    solid writing and narrating
a good interesting story that draws you in and won't let you go. Good pacing and action with some funny moments thrown in. if you like the first law series or books like the lies of Locke lamora then this is a must listen.
    Excellent Abercrombie-like Series
I was looking for something along the lines Joe Abercrombie's stuff or Scott Lynch's Gentlemen Bastard series & took a gamble on this. Its outstanding, at least on a par with Abercrombie's books.
Similar anti-hero / flawed leads style, but in a refreshing original setting. Definitely adult orientated too. I hate starting a fantasy series & discovering its really a young adult series in disguise.
I've give the narration 6 stars if I could. And great to see the same narrator carried over to the sequel. Which is equally excellent.
slow start but keep going worth it
Its a slower burner this book found first few chapters a struggle but story then took off. Until at end can't wait for the next book. Similarly with the narrator voice definitely grows on you over time.
    nearly there
    didn't quite get there.
excellent characters but left me wanting more in a negative way. wasn't fulfilling.

    Members Reviews:
    Breaking and Dying!!!
This book really builds on the hype of the previous one. I can't get over it's climactic ending.
It takes us back to the detrimental world of Nathan, our chosen one, per se. We can really see Nathan evolve as a boy in a very unfortunate circumstance. And it all really culminates to Nathan's choices. Can love be but questioned for it's reality? Do the people you believe you love really feel the same and as strongly as you love? Hearts and families are put to the test. Nathan is making his own future now. Does he stand with his family and loved ones. Or do his loved ones really just fall around him, breaking and dying.
    Great story and reader
The wonderful narration makes a fast paced and gripping story all the richer. Would recommend to anyone who likes a good magical story about young people.
horrid weird noise meant to convey meaning
if the reader had just read this book it would have been wonderful but no they had to throw in nose meant to be alarm clocks and static and headaches and weird things that makes it so annoying you can't even listen to the book I wish they had just gotten someone to read the book without trying to be inventive because it really made a good story suck
Entertaining, but not as strong as first book
Would you consider the audio edition of Half Wild to be better than the print version?
Mostly likely! I only listened to the first and second book, didn't read, but Carl Prekopp's performance deserves serious praise and recognition. I've checked out some reviews of the print version of these books, where readers often complain of a lack of action, and flatness of characters. Prekopp breathes life into the story in a way that took my breath away when I first started 'Half-Bad' and kept me hooked even when the story kind of dragged.
It usually really bothers me when male narrators use affected tones for female character dialogue, or over the top accents-- but Carl Prekopp does a great job with it! His accents are subtle and nuanced, and he really makes each primary character's voice recognizable through tone and annunciation. Very impressed!
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I was torn with this book. The first book grabbed me in the beginning, kept me curious and intrigued and hungry for more info about this world of black and white witches.

    I'm sold on Harry Harrison
OK, I realize that the last two books in this series were written by someone other than the original author, Harry Harrison. But I do give him credit for the original idea that these books sprang from. I'm a sucker for alternate history stories, and this one is a good one. What makes it good is a fresh perspective--Vikings and English, rather than the Civil War, or Kennedy's assassination, or even the Roman Empire. I stumbled across an old Harry Harrison book in my personal library when I was looking for something to read, and was impressed by his mastery of writing. I am a Christian, and have always been aware of his anti-Christian bias (perhaps more anti-Church?), but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying these and other books by the old master.
    Harry, we hardly knew ye....
    Good Book
I read this the first time when I was a lot younger. Fun read the first time and a fun re-read.
An excellent alternative history of the Viking Age
An excellent alternative history of the Viking Age. I have, but haven't had a chance to read Harrison's two sequels yet. Hopefully they will measure up to the first one.
    Five Stars
A trilogy not to be missed.
    Fantastic Trilogy
This trilogy is excellent, a nice foray into alternative history that is set outside the "standard mileau" of the Civil War and/or WWII.
    Highly recommended.

Book one in the Bugging Out Series
Get out. Hunker down. Stay alive.
It came without warning: a microscopic enemy that methodically turned the green Earth gray, decimating the food chain until only the prepared were left.
But preparation alone is not enough to shelter Eric Fletcher from the chaos to befall the world as governments fail their citizens. Seeking refuge at his remote property in the north of Montana while society devolves into starving anarchy, he finds himself facing not only the rigors of survival but also the appearance of a self-proclaimed ruler promising to set his piece of the withered world right for those who follow. Those who don't will suffer the consequences of his sadistic retribution.
Finding another survivor near his refuge, Eric attempts to steer clear of the conflict brewing in nearby towns. But soon he and his newfound partner in survival are targeted by the dictatorial leader, leaving them two options: run, or fight for what is right.

    Great Book!!
The book was a joy to listen to!! I was sucked into the struggles of the characters hard road to survive. The book also dug into what are something's we miss they one might need in case of a catastrophe that I would have not thought of.
I very much recommend you read it!
From Jim just a regular guy living in the Midwest.
    Reluctant survivalist turns mass murderer?
At first i was really excited about the book. He starts out strong, working his preps, then everything goes sideways. I will br getting the second book. I'm not fully clear why,
The reader makes it hard to listen
How could the performance have been better?
The reader has a constant soothing tone like he is trying not to wake a sleeping child in the next room. He is a good reader, but not at all a voice actor. Very little emotional change in his voice. And to top it off he has an unusual way of ending nearly every sentence with an odd down note.
    This is a good book!
The author really does a good job with this in my view, the story is most interesting and certainly different from all the rest of this genre I enjoyed it. The characters are pretty good and you can start to really like some of them except the bad guys of course. Granted the main character is a bit naïve but nice guys do have that about them. I dont see a second book [series] coming but would like it if there were.
    Decent story but....
If you could sum up Bugging Out in three words, what would they be?
    Gritty, thought provoking
Would you listen to another book narrated by Mark Westfield?
    Yes
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
    Yes
    Any additional comments?
The premise was bit out there and there were solutions that were pretty easy to implement, but overall, the situations that the main character found himself in during a survival situation were believable.
