Enjoyed the story but not the sound quality

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I listed to this book on my commute to and from work. It was a nice distraction.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoy an "angsty" romance and this story fit the bill.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Andrew Schwartz?

Someone without an East Coast accent. I found it distracting.

Not applicable. Sinnerman is part of a series and I have already read the other books.

The sound quality was an issue for me when listening to this book. At times the readers voice seemed to fade a bit as though he turned his head away from the microphone.

Rough listening

I would buy more from this team, but only if they promise to iron out the audio glitches. I found myself distracted from the story by having to adjust the volume and bass/treble settings. Not a good thing while driving. Story is OK. I found myself pulled in to the goings on.

Action packed

Love Raphael and Jackson's story! Jackson's self destruction was hard to witness but it made his happily-ever-after all that more sweet.

Great series

I have listened to this whole series and also read the books and enjoyed them immensely. The only part of the narration I do not enjoy is the music or electronic sounds at the beginning of the chapters as it is jarring. However, that is no reason to miss this excellent series. Well worth your time and a credit.

Great story, not a good narrator

Jackson is a warder whose hearth has fallen for someone else. Hes heartbroken and acting like he doesnt care if he lives or dies.

Raphael is the Kyrie we met earlier who drank from Mal but who only has eyes for Jackson.

Though it takes a lot of teaching, Raphael shows Jackson he has something to live for including love.

The love between Jackson and Raphael is tough to watch at first. Jacksons heart is broken and hes so sad. Rafe doesnt seem like hes good for Jackson at all, and it feels hard to root for him.

I loved how the story finally comes around to show us the real path. It was a very cleaver writing and it went over well.

This was a great addition to the series and I recommend it with 4 of 5 stars!

Odd Girl in

Laura is a young lass at collage where she meets the lovely Beth feelings and a few other things are explored but I wont spoil it for you ,this was written in the fifty's by the brilliant Ann Bannon who also introduces the book,some how make's it timeless, maybe it's just love and broken hearts that are timeless ( sigh ) . It is a time warp and I enjoyed it thoroughly .

A fling or away of life?

Compleat characters and a compelling story with a thoughtful conclusion. I would recomend this book.

Good story for a 50's pulp novel.

What did you love best about Odd Girl Out?

Spoil Alert***********************That Laura declares loud and proud that she is "Queer" and leaves for New York without Beth, That Laura says to 1950's society, you be damn, I can never marry a man, be with a man, I there for must leave this farce and make my way as best as I can no matter what my family thinks, what society thinks, what lumps society hands ,me I must be true to myself. OK so it was a little Payton Place story and Beth stays for Charlie, but Laura had the gut to know enough to leave.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Laura, she come off as child like at first, but as the story goes along you find out she is the strong one in the story. I liked her best.

What about Kate Rudds performance did you like?

Good tone, good inflection, Good dramatic pauses, Just good over all reading of the book. And a pleasant voice.

If you could rename Odd Girl Out, what would you call it?

The old story, He gets her in the end.

I got so tried of lesbian stories written before 1975 that either end with one of the woman in the arms of a man, or with the one of the woman killing themselves or both. It's like you can't have a happy lesbian while one girl does end up in the arms of a guy, the other isn't suicidal in fact you kind of feel hopeful Hopeful for her.

Headache Inducing Narration

I want to talk about the narrator. Horrible.

He speedily reads through the book in a wanna be cop monotone. No inflection of his voice. Nothing. He pauses on commas as if they were periods and speeds on through punctuation as if the book were one long run on sentance.

You can't tell which characters are speaking because he continues to read in a droning monotone. There are conversations with 3 or more people and you don't know who's speaking. And don't get me started on the sex scenes. The words "technical manual" come to mind.

Bottom of the barrel excuse for a narration.

Sargent Joe Friday Reads a book

Oh my goodness. The story was ok. but the emotionless Joe Friday narrator from dragnet gave this story the emotional depth of a teaspoon. Speed of reading was more important that feeling of the character. It mattered not wether he was talking about eating a donut or getting pleasured. IT WAS ALL THE SAME. If i was the author I would sue the narrator for the killing of a somewhat good and at times interesting story.

What Horrible Narration

I was hoping that this book might be interesting, but with the horrible narration you sometimes miss the story line because the narration grates on your nerves. The Canadian inflections don't bother me as much as the monotone delivery and "literal" pronunciation which makes you think "Nobody speaks like that..." I think if there was a different narrator the book may have better reviews. I've listened to many books on Audible, but this, by far, was the worst -- I think I'll stay away from any books Narrated by this reader.

Very Bad Narration

This audio book would have been a good read, but the narrator made it a very bad listen. Just ruined the whole experience

Wanted to like it...

...but it fails on many levels: mediocre writing, excessively enunciated narration, and just a few too many gay cliches. Gave an extra star for the effort (because we need more gay fiction in audible format).

Adorable!

Okay, this is a third book in the series and I have not read the others yet, but I did not feel like I was lost at all, apparently it is same world, but couples are new in each book (siblings, friends of the previous couples).

This story was so very cute. I do not have a consistent criteria of when I feel that the book is so cute that it can hurt my teeth with sweetness and when I am just signing happily and saying Aw[...] But this is the situation when I am saying Aw[...] Who knew seventeen year old baby dragons could be so adorable :-), especially when they also look like human teenagers.

It is a beginning of the romance, not even a romance yet, no explicit sex, so beware of that as well.

Oh and it is not too long, see page count, but I was okay with that.

So darn cute! The most adorable dragon ever.

This is the 3rd book in the series afterFinding the Wolf (The Dragon's Hoard)andBreaking the Shackles (The Dragon's Hoard). The writing gets better with each book but his one on baby dragon Tori and his witch Jerney is the best. Physically a 17 years old human but emotionally and mentally really just a baby dragon, Tori has to be the cutest and most adorable character. The introductory scene of Tori with his pretties, ignoring his Uncle Bast, is a hoot. Jerney, an honorable and caring young man, is perfect for our baby dragon with his patience and love. I like that the writer gives us Jerney's childhood background, Jerney's own experience with his younger siblings, which gives Jerney the wisdom to care for baby Tori. So there is no usual typical sexual MM romance as they have to wait until Tori is fifty years old, human terms, lol. But who cares! The genuine and convincing love and care between Tori and Jerney is even better. The plot is enjoyable too but it is the character of Tori which makes this one shines. My only complaint is I do not have enough of Tori and Jerney together. I would love a story on this two until Tori is 50 years old!

This is the perfect dragon story I'd been looking for!

I loved everything about Jerney and Tori. Tori at 17 is just a baby dragon and Jerney in his early 20s is a very strong spell caster. Both meet when Jerney returns Tori's hatching gem which had been stolen. Upon sight Tori knows that Jerney is important to him and without both of them knowing claims Jerney as part of his hoard.

What ensues is the most adorable and endearing start of their relationship. Nothing sexual can happen, since Tori is a baby dragon stuck in the body of a human teenager.

Closet opened

I was moved by this story. Omega Tracey search for living a life as to not disappoint those he loves. Can't wait for the next closet. Well done.

Hunkasaurus.

This is literally the word that made me cringe so hard I stopped listening to this book. I don't know if it's the author's writing style or the way the narrator chose yo emphasize his speech while reading, but nothing about this book worked for me.

Couldn't connect to the characters, found the college setting off putting (though I'm not sure why) and the dialogue felt forced.

It also made me uncomfortable to listen to repeated descriptions of the MCsbest friend eating a lollipop at the beginning of the book.

Really disappointed as there are other books by this author that I was interested in, but now I'm not sure about purchasing them. I'm bummed. :C

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. Loved the characters, loved the humor. It was so great to read about a gay lead character that had the same quality as mainstream mystery fiction. If you like Janet Evanovich, you'll love Skyler. The narrator is perfect... he doesn't just read the book... he brings the characters to really distinct life. I've already told my friends about it.

What did you like best about this story?

I think Skyler is such an endearing character... he has flaws and he's struggling to find himself and own his identity. His relationship with his students is really charming. My favorite thing is probably the quality of the writing... it was so great to read something with gay characters that was of such great comedic quality.

Which character as performed by Joel Leslie was your favorite?

Probably Jamie. He's hilarious - fabulous but full of heart.

There was a point where I actually did get teary... but I don't wanna spoil it.

The books contain some (pretty steamy) sex - but the focus is on the story and the characters. It's was awesome.

If you could sum up Foxe Tail in three words, what would they be?

It's just like a gay Hardy Boys. It was so refreshing to read such a well written piece of gay mystery fiction. The characters are delightful, the writing is hilarious and the mystery is also well crafted. If you're a fan of MC Beaton and other engaging 'amateur sleuth' series, this is a definitely sexy addition to the canon.

What other book might you compare Foxe Tail to and why?

It reminds me a lot of the Agatha Raisin or Hamish McBeth books - but with a wonderful cast of hilarious gay friends. Replace crumpets with cosmos... and you have Skyler Foxe and his friends. There is some really sexy stuff in the book - but that's certainly not the writer's focus. It was great to read adult fiction that was really invested in the story and the characters. Styler may be a horndog- but he's a wonderful role model.

What does Joel Leslie bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

He has amazing versatility with the characters. He has great comedic timing and the dynamic between all of Skyler's friends is hilarious.

I Love this book and this narrator

I got this book a year ago and I have listened to it about 3 or 4 times at this point. I love this narrator b/c he perfectly embodies the characters. I know some don't like his voice b/c it is a little "California club kidlike." But that is perfect for Patrick and Whiskey. I think the audio version of this book is the way to go b/c of the narrator. He brings these guys to life for me and it is hella funny. "Totally" worth a credit.

One of my all time favorites- spot on narration

Patrick is a screw up. Hes got ADHD, hes off his meds most of the time, his nickname is Tricks because hes always being picked up and his boyfriends are always using him for his Daddys money. He wants to change, but doesnt know how, and ever since his mom left, its been him and his Dad and his dad is either indifferent or derisive.

One day, Patricks current boyfriend drugs him and accidentally crashes his car and leaves him for dead in the river. Wes Whiskey sees the car go over the edge and rushes to save Patrick. When Patrick comes to, Whiskey is entranced. He and his lesbian assistant Flybait are living on the river this summer doing a project for Fish and Game (trying to find the source of contamination in the water which causes mutations to frogs). Though Patrick is quite the spaz, both Whiskey and Flybait cant help but see the diamond in the rough that is Patrick and they enlist his help on their project and in turn end up making Patrick a project of sorts, as well.

Over the course of the summer, Whiskey and Patrick fall in love. There are lots of hurdles to overcome. Patricks aversion to getting physical. Whiskeys new job in the North Pole. Patricks ex. Patricks father. Drug runners. Patricks ADHD the list goes on. But, together, they navigate the rough waters and find a deep and abiding love.

I fell in love with Patrick right from page one. He is one of my favorite Amy Lane characters. He is so genuine and open and honest and hes simply been misunderstood for most of his life. All he wants to do is the right thing, but he cant manage to connect the right dots.

Even better than book one!

I really enjoy these books. Walsh has a great gift for dialogue and as these books progress she only makes you care more and more about the characters. Skyler can be an infuriating romance flip-flopper - but he's so damn adorable you can't help but get sucked in. This time the sex scenes are a lot more prominent and they are damn hot. Walsh doesn't just write pulp story lines that thinly connect sex scenes, however - these books are way more satisfying than that. They are a delightful, guilty pleasure that is sure to remind you of your own crazy friends. The narrator manages to make the most of the comedic qualities of the book - he has great timing and each of the over-the-top one of Skyler's friends are rendered with specificity and energy. If you like a 'dead read' kind of narration - this isn't for you - but he's perfect for the energy of the material. Walsh writes great sensual scenes but by the end of the book I was totally wrapped up in the story and found that I'd really become attached to these characters. Can't wait for the next book to come out in audio.

A perfect blend of sexy and silly.

What made the experience of listening to Foxe Hunt the most enjoyable?

I love the characters in this series - Skyler's friends and their unique, hilarious personalities really make the series for me.

What did you like best about this story?

I might have preferred the mystery in the first story a little more - but the larger storyline which Walsh is developing over the first three books really starts to get interesting. I really like her writing style. I was surprised how much more steamy sex there was in this book (romantic and very hot) but I really appreciate that her primary goal is to give us a really great story. Woven around the 'amateur sleuth' storylines she manages, despite the craziness of the characters and their wild adventures, to have them face real struggles that gay folks all deal with. She's passionate about her characters but also clearly cares a lot about the social challenges LGBT people face... She manages an impressive balance between giving a light, fun read and still adding real depth to Skyler's larger story line.

What does Joel Leslie bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

The narrator (who i think does an even better job with book two) has great comedic timing and really goes to town with the flamboyant, fun personalities of Rodolfo and Jamie especially.

Paul Morey's Southern accent was down right endearing. I'm not a big fan of the accent but he sounded so dang on sexy, good grief!

All 3 stories are entertaining with a great list of characters, my favorites being in book 3.

Good tales, fabulous narration!
