"Roscoe Riley's Never Glue Your Friends To Chairs" made my children sat in their chairs, laughing out loud and giggling, while they took turns reading to each other. They did not want to stop reading until the book is over!
A cute book that is charming and inventive with short chapters and attention grabbing sentences along with well illustrations.
It is also a book that parents will also enjoy reading to(or along with) their children!

- the main and a little bit about Roscoe himself -
Roscoe says so himself, he doesn't like to find ways to get into trouble, trouble has a way of finding him.
He describes what he likes and what he doesn't like. And "he" is just like everyone else, a "normal" kid.
He was just trying to help out his teacher, by gluing his class-mates to their chairs with Super-Mega-Gonzo Glue!

"h,i,j,k, ellen Emmo Peed..." (Who is Ellen Emmo? Well, it's all explained in the Kindergarten! weren't you paying attention?)
- for my kids, this is... -
my son is more of a reader than my daughter, he is 6 and she is 7. They both read above their grade levels but it is still a challenge to try to get them to read on their own. Whenever I would mention reading time for them, they would get that "Zombie" stare and at times, my daughter would even get tears in her eyes because she'd rather watch TV.
And it would take them about 10 minutes to get settled down and once we all start to read, it takes a lot of effort to try to get their attention or try to get them to make an effort to read the words that they don't know or understand.
But Roscoe Riley (along with a few other books) had not only made them paid attention. They fight and argue over who will READ the WHOLE book. They giggle and laugh throughout the book and they want to discuss the book.
What is good for us parents is that this book takes a light hearted look at everyday issues most kids have that usually get them into trouble with including punishment(s) and why they are needed even though kids DON'T usually try to get into trouble.
while it is not a hard book to read, it introduces more advanced words such as "permanant" and "antennae" (as a visual words).
My kids absolutely love this book and are already asking for other books in this series.
The author wrote perfectly from a child's perspective that is intuitive, funny, yet serious (gluing children into their chairs is NOT recommended, said Roscoe from the first chapter)
