Publisher's Summary:
A thrilling and irreverent memoir about the transformation of the advertising business from the 1980s to today. Richard Kirshenbaum was born to sell. Raised in a family of Long Island strivers, this future advertising titan was just a few years old when his grandfather first taught him that a Cadillac is more than a car, and that if you cant have a Trinitron you might as well not watch TV. He had no connections when he came to Madison Avenue, but he possessed an outrageous sense of humor that would make him a millionaire.
In 1987, at the age of 26, Richard put his savings on the line to launch his own agency with partner Jonathan Bond, and within a year, had transformed it from a no-name firm into the go-to house for cutting-edge work. Kirshenbaum and Bond pioneered guerilla marketing by purchasing ad space on fruit, spray-painting slogans on the sidewalk, and hiring actors to order the Hennessy martini in nightclubs. They were the bad boys of Madison Avenuea firm where a skateboarding employee once bowled over an important clientbut backed up their madness with results. Packed with business insight, marketing wisdom, and a cast of characters ranging from Princess Diana to Ed McMahon, this memoir is as bold, as breathtaking, and as delightful as Richard himself.

Kirshenbaum story is worth the read. Truly a rise to Stardom
Wonderful Read. Just wish it was in hard copy so I could share it.. Inspirational and interesting about a young man's rise to stardom in a crazy ad world. Fast and fun
Okay
It was interesting at the beginnning and quite honestly the write up told most of the best parts. A little too involved in ego on the part of the writer and how great he is and his advertising agency is to be very enjoyable.
great read
I enjoyed the book because i can relate to much of the content. It's well written and depicts an ad era that has been intriguing to me. Well done, Richard.
Madboy - highly recommend this for Mad Men fans
I bought this book at full price after reading the first few chapters on my Kindle. I really like the show "Mad Men" but you don't have to like the show to enjoy this book. I didn't know the name Richard Kirshenbaum before - but I sure know some of the work he created. His writing style is effortless, and I read the whole book over a couple of days. His writing created an intimate feel toward the advertising business that kept me going throughout the whole book; although I have to admit that by the end of it - I was getting a little sick of his boastfullness(translate:amazing self-confidence). That said, he wrote about both his own successes and failures, both in his early life and in his business life. His book is very inspiring - he worked hard for his success.
