Highly recommended- I've listened to almost every mafia book on audible.com and this one definitely ranks up with the best.

slow in the beginning

stick with it the first few chapters are boring but it does get ready good the future along the story goes

it was really good!

it did not seem over-the-top and exaggerated like a lot of Mafia stories. The narrator can get a bit mundane at first and it did start out a bit slow but overall it was a very good read. One of the better Mafia stories. I think the best is Mafia Prince then second is the Sinatra Club and this is third. I personally prefer first-hand Stories versus a mob historian or a reporter writing the story. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's interested in this genre.

Could not finish

Ugh this was very disappointing. De4tails, details, and more details. This book just goes on with details, but the story is no story. If you like facts this is for you. If you want a good story... Faget about it!

How did this ever get published? Gag a Maggot

Ted Bundy was a visitor to my apartment in the 70's... I thought he was darling and wanted to date him. Needless to say, glad I didn't. I have read most everything ever written about him and since this was new to me... I picked it up without really checking it out. This book is poorly researched (if at all), with unbelievably poor writing skills (4th grade) and an unbearable reader. "Gag a maggot" is the line that keeps running through my head. Of interest it is only 30 minutes long... so the misery is short.

Definitely Skip This One

I'm so glad I didn't pay money to read this mess (got it via Kindle Unlimited). I have to agree with the other reviewer that the terrible writing is exasperating. When describing a person's mixed feelings or behavior, how did the author come up with these things being "among him?" That and the flipping from present tense to past tense will have you screaming before you even notice how lousy the narrative and factual research are. How did this get printed? Save your money for the many other excellent books on these same cases. I can't apologize for offending since someone has worked so hard to deserve it.

Terrible writing!

A hodge-podge of strewn together facts with no central cohesion to the book. Author does not know how to use present/past tenses of verbs which would've made this book readable. I want my money back. Sorry if I offend.

Not a book as much as an extended resume...

Picked this up at a thrift shop for $1 -- looked like it might have some interesting stories about experiences in NYC that most of us wouldn't encounter. That wasn't this book's purpose at all. The intention was to show off the author's initiative for investors who might be interested in his messenger bag company that he's trying to start up to no avail (not exactly an unexplored market).

To cut to the chase, everything he's going to discuss is in the 10 page introduction. The rest of the book is padding. Rather than discuss other people or experiences, the book is just about him and where he has worked. By the 10th time he noted he was New York's fastest messenger, I came to realize it was posturing - there was never any article or quote from someone else that substantiated such a claim.

You can pass on this book.

You have to have live the messenger life to understand how hard it is in our field if you never lived the messenger life you have no clue how hard it is to do half of the things this man has done.

LOVE, DEVOTION, AND COURAGE

Your book was extremely emotional for me I cried all the way through it. I am a 34 yr. old female. I have had two ectopic pregnancies and 3 IVF cycles with no success. My sister has offered to be a surrogate, but my husband and I weren't sure about that path. Until I read your book!

I don't think people understand how difficult it is to live day to day with the pain of infertility. The book is very clear regarding the frustrations of not conceiving and the insensitivity some Dr.'s and nurses display to their patients. That was a very important message to send to your readers.

Your cousin Jennifer is truly a beautiful person inside and out. I think about her constantly. I loved the part about Jennifer always wearing high heel shoes, I can totally related to you La. But, you had the courage, strength, and love to not change Jennifer's ways. I admire you for that.

Thank God for loving people like Jennifer and modern technology. Jennifer by the way, you look gorgeous just like your mother.. Thank you very much for sharing your family photos with us, their very precious. May you all live happy and healthy lives.

A heartwarming experience

The authors were able to draw me into not only the drama of bringing Luc into this world but to the couragious story of 4 women and what they meant to each other. As someone who has experienced the rollercoaster known as infertility, I could relate to the feelings Liza expressed over her frustations with the medical community as well as her own perceived failures. I usually fear books on this subject because they can be full of self pity. Not this one...it was inspirational.

This is what really happens to the inhumane greedy

Crimes change, laws adapt, sentencing changes, executions change, criminals are as clueless as ever. Excellent teaching tool for law, law enforcement, historians, novelists, and those who think Hollywood is real. Rossignol has done all of the hard work of digging into trial records and depictions of the executions and the large to enormous size of the audiences attending this form of entertainment. Well written and attention grabbing.

Production caveat: God only knows what went wrong here, but the speed and fluidity are reminiscent of battery decline in an audiotape player. For note taking use 1.25x speed, for listening enjoyment use at least 1.5x speed. There will still be a few rate irregularities, but they won't detract from your enjoyment.

Chekijian performs this work well, like always. You can generally count on never having to backtrack for notetaking when he performs a scholarly work. It helps that his voice is pleasant, flowing, and clearly enunciated.

This book was a gift.

I really enjoyed listening to this one. I love listening to the pirate trials. Some savory characters indeed.

As always, Jack Chekijian did a wonderful job narrating this book. He's one of the best as well as one of my favorites.

A good read

This is an excellent book. Well written, it examines the world of today from the author's Christian perspective. Many times that perspective is ignored in this world of "anything goes" and "I can make my own rules". I would recommend this book to any thinking person !!
