    Good Book
I had n!o idea the book was used and a previous library book with the checkout card still in it. Good Book though
    It was a good read.
It arrived in a timely fashion as described. It was a good read.
    Unselfish sisterly love
When I begin reading a novel, I want to find out as soon I can who the main character is, what her problem is, where she lives and when. I chose to read this story because I enjoy historical books and because it was about a young pioneer girl struggling with breathing problems. Young girls dealing with asthma will especially appreciate the story.
I was frustrated in not knowing the name of the main character until chapter twoânor when this story took place until I read the Epilogue on page 161.
-Hope Irvin Marston, author of EYE ON THE IDITAROD: ASISLINGâS QUEST.
    Unselfish love between sisters.
A girl tries to live her life even as death hangs over her.
Most of the time, ten-year-old Lizzie Baker is happy with her family's life on the Tennessee frontier in the 1790s. Except for every fall, when Lizzie's asthma becomes so terrible that she can barely breathe. And this fall, it was so bad that Lizzie nearly died. The doctors and the local midwife try several treatments, but none of them really seem to work. Lizzie resigns herself to dying, and decides to just try and enjoy the year she has left until next fall, which she surely won't survive - each fall, her asthma gets worse and worse, and she couldn't possibly survive an attack worse than the last one. Lizzie enjoys spending time with visitors to the community - a wealthy surveyor and his wife and son. The wealthy family, the Beaumonts, live by the sea in South Carolina. Some people say that the sea air might help Lizzie's lungs. When the Beaumonts offer to adopt Lizzie and take her to South Carolina, she must make a choice - stay in Tennessee, where she will surely die but with the comfort of her family nearby, or go far away where she could still die, far from home? I highly reccomend this book. It's a great historical novel and an inspiring story about a young girl's amazing courage and determination. I don't think I could ever be as brave as Lizzie.

  • Zoey Le Mar and the Veil of Fear Audiobook by Michael S Lopez

Title: Zoey Le Mar and the Veil of Fear
    Author: Michael S Lopez
    Narrator: Rina Adachi
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 8 hrs and 7 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-19-14
    Publisher: Michael S. Lopez
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
    Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10
    Publisher's Summary:
Zoey Le Mar has, what she thinks, is a typical preteen life in the suburbs: soccer; a strict yet, loving father and mother; a pesky little brother, Owen; and two best friends, Danielle Hernandez and Lucy Le Mar. Without warning, during the preparations for Owen's birthday party, Zoey receives her first premonition, based on a secret truth. It starts to undermine her once peaceful, 11-year-old existence. The forewarning matches a recurring dream that has plagued Zoey since Owen's current age. The premonition and dream involve mystery, monsters, and magic. At first, Zoey ignores off the forewarning, not really realizing what's going on or the importance of it. The premonition involves a family secret, a forgotten responsibility, many generations removed.
As Owen's birthday party begins, more premonitions intrude and stagger Zoey. Even her cousin Lucy gets pulled into one somehow. Then a strange present, a two-foot-tall gargoyle statue, adds to the continuing mystery of her family and this evolving day. Still wary, Zoey dismisses the warnings and all the coincidences guiding her. Humor becomes her favorite avenue to deflect the strangeness. Though ignored, the premonitions expand and continue to haunt Zoey.
The party ends, and Lucy goes home. With that avenue of communication closed, Zoey finds solace by going to Danielle's house. On her way there, Tricky O'Leary, a fellow classmate and local bad boy, stops her. He discovers something is wrong and tries to help. Zoey brushes off his offer and ditches him. Once the coast is clear, she continues onto Danielle's house and gets chased by what she thinks are monsters. But she's just not sure. She makes it to Danielle's house and ducks inside. However, another classmate and fellow teammate, Rhea Khan, taking out the trash, sees what chases Zoey, and it becomes her problem. In the meanwhile, Danielle helps Zoey investigate the strange happenings of the day, the gargoyle present, and her family story.

The Use and Misuse of Money
This is a chapter book for independent readers from first to fifth grade. The Troll controls the bridge all travelers must use. He uses fear and intimidation to get what he wanted. Soon, the Troll has more and more money. A young boy questions why everyone must pay to use the bridge. He tries to communicate with the Troll and finds him to be selfish. One day the rains come and the Troll is out of business and in need of help. Aside from the use and misuse of money, there are many lessons to be learned from this story. Children will enjoy the illustrations, which enliven and move the story along.
    Great read!
Great illustrations, very captivating to young minds! This book also contains many valuable lessons that will greatly benefit children throughout their loves. Finance is something that no one can run away from in the world, so being financially literate should be requirement nowadays and when better to start the education then when at people are at their most receptive ages.
Fantastic book, my 5 year old son loved it ...
Fantastic book, my 5 year old son loved it and now wants to be a financial advisor! Go Go Dannyyyyy
For the age level I think the dark tone is scary, it scared my child.
I was excited as I saw a new entry in this series, as I loved the others and was disappointed in the left turn in the illustrations. Its very distracting and doesnt match at all the classical and elegance of the others. I hope he goes back to that look. I never understand why, if something is doing well and very established in its "look" the author or usually the publisher just changes everything in the middle of a series. For the age level I think the dark tone is scary, it scared my child. He liked the other books look but did not want to even read through this. The other pictures were so nice and detailed, and these are just blobs with an anime looking child. Weird.

Der Sandmann is an enhancement of the children's fable of the sandman, a nefarious demon that steals the eyes of children. In Hoffmann' story, the mad scientist Dr Cornelius uses eyes to animate robots he builds. One of these machines, "mein bestes Automat", disrupts the love affair by wooing the protagonist from his true love.
