Decent stories again ruined by a terrible narrator
The only slightly redeeming part of this set of stories compared to the Powder Mage Novella Collection is that most of the main characters are female in this one, and Hoverson is worst when doing male voices, especially Tamas. I actually was happy to spend extra money to get Return to Honor narrated by Christian Rodska. I really hope in the future they stick to Rodska or pick a distant female narrator. There are plenty of great ones out there.
    Good Prequals
Always fun to hear about the characters before all hell breaks loose. Wish they were longer!

Title: Blue World: The Complete Collection
    Author: Robert McCammon
Narrator: Bronson Pinchot, Kevin T. Collins
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 16 hrs and 53 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-24-15
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 45 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy
    Publisher's Summary:
A novella and 12 stories from a master of supernatural horror.
Father John has lived his whole life without knowing a woman's touch. Hard at first, his self-denial grew easier over time, as he learned to master his urges with a regimen of prayer, cold showers, and jigsaw puzzles. That changes the day that Debra Rocks enters his confessional. A rough-talking adult film actress, she has come to ask him to pray for a murdered costar. Her cinnamon perfume infects Father John, and after she departs he becomes obsessed. Around the corner from his church is a neon-lit alley of sin. He goes there hoping to save her life before he damns himself.
That is Blue World, the novella that anchors this collection of chilling stories by Robert R. McCammon. Although monsters, demons, and murderers fill this audio, in McCammon's world the most terrifying landscape of all is the barren wasteland of a lost man's soul.

    50/50 on the readers
I enjoyed the stories and thought Bronson Pinchot did a great job but every story Kevin T. Collins read annoyed me so much I was dreading listening to them. I really liked the idea of different stories read by different voices just not that particular voice.
    Delicious!
This collection of stories were so fresh and imaginative, some stories were dark and some as joyful as a spring morning but they were all told with such descriptive magic they drew you in to the tale. Full of human nature, magic, fright, suspense and triumph they
held me spellbound. and I truly enjoyed this book. The writing was superb and the narrators talented and well suited to the stories they narrated. Bravo! Well done!
    On second thought
i read Blue World years ago and thought I remembered liking it quite a bit. Nope! This is definitely not Robert McCammon at his best. The narrators did little to help the cause. One read like he was a second grade English. teacher on crank. The other gave everyone a rather vapid tone not unlike Steven Wright.
Interesting stories but performance is average.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you are a fan of old school fantasy/horror in the genre of E.C. Comics and the Twilight Zone this is definitely a collection of stories you should listen to or read. McCammon hates being portrayed as the poor man's Stephen King, but it's hard not to since he is every bit as good (and I would argue better) a writer, but he is not as well known by the general public.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Yellachile's Cage is probably my favorite in the Audible format because the reader here seems more engaged than in most of the other stories.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Bronson Pinchot and Kevin T. Collins ?
I am unsure who narrated which stories, but overall (except for a few readings) the performance seemed lackluster and did not do the stories justice. Maybe it was just my mood at the time, but my mind tended to wonder during Yellow Jacket Summer as well as several other stories. Normally I can stay well focused on audio books, but even though the readings weren't necessarily bad, the narration didn't grab me.
    Any additional comments?
This is pure vintage McCammon at his best and if you enjoy his early works you should definitely give these short stories a try.
    The Kids are the Worst
A great selection of short stories, the ones with evil children were especially creepy.

Interesting elements. Just didn't come together.
Some parts OK. Couldn't finish the book. Overall didn't work for me as a good story nor as a fable. Narrator was very good.
Amazing retellings of my favorite fairy tale
Loved this audio production and all five stories! Each delightful story lasts a few hours. The narrator's voice is sweet and pleasant.
    charming!
What about Becky Doughtys performance did you like?
Each story is set in a different time and place, she did a great job keeping the flavor of narration appropriate to the settings.
    Any additional comments?
I enjoyed all the stories so much I am going to buy the book.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes folk or fairy tales.

    Great stories
A couple of the performances were uneven, but all in all, a great listen. I enjoyed it very much
Women really do excellently destroy sci-fi!
I found Women Destroy Science Fiction to be a wonderfully diverse anthology of some of the many different genres of sci-fi written by women authors (and excellently destroy it, they did!). I was thrilled to find a story included by James Tiptree, Jr., who wrote one of my favorite shorts (The Screwfly Solution). Without a doubt I'll checking out others titles by many of the authors, as well as the Women Destroy Fantasy anthology.

Shadows for Silence in the Forest of Hell is a novella set in the Cosmere. Who names their daughter Silence, and what does it imply? What is it like to grow up with this name? Shed then track them after they left her inn and murder them for their bounties.
Perfect State sets God-Emperor Kairominas on a date. What happens when the most important man in the world is forced to have dinner with the most important woman in the world?

    Two Perfect Sanderson Miniatures
Brandon Sanderson's imagination is prodigal, spitting out richly developed worlds at a rate much too fast for even his breakneck writing to keep pace with. Some of the worlds get long novels, some get very long novels, and some even get whole series of very long novels devoted to them. Some (THE EMPEROR'S NEW SOUL, SHADOWS FOR SILENCE IN THE FOREST OF HELL, and PERFECT STATE) get only novellas. But regardless of the volume of prose, one always has the sense that one is visiting a complete world, with its own history, laws, and tensions. Some visits are brief, some protracted, but all are rewarding.
This program offers the listener two brief visits: two novellas set in different worlds. Both are very interesting and exciting places, with unseen depths we would like to see explored. The experienced Sanderson fan should have no trouble imagining either of them getting its own epic trilogy. A fan who has kept track of his recent output, though, will doubtless realize that he already has too many irons in the fire. We won't get those trilogies, and must be content with miniatures. Both of them are delightful.
    Brilliant novellas
I loved Shadows of Silence and the concept of Perfect State. Both the novellas develop character and story in the few hours.
Shadows of Silence was very well written and conceptualized. I ended up caring for the characters in just a few hours of reading.
Perfect State character development was a little slow and dull. the concept was brilliant.
    Narrators are great as always.
    Great stories
kate reading was fabulous as usual but i didnt love the other narrator... stories both were fantastic though.
state is good silence is better
Perfect state was a 3 star and silence was 4 star yay. I love Brandon Sanderson which is a dedicated writer.
    you want to hear this
oh my... for such short stories I was completely hooked! my only regret is knowing how they end so I cannot re-enjoy the thrilling twists

The war is tearing our world apart. Instead of big armies with tanks in the field, the Vampire War is fought in the streets, neighbor against neighbor, family against family. Each tale explores the nature of terror and peels back another layer of our comfort. Each tale bares our throat to the bite. New York Times best-selling author Jonathan Maberry and his team of frontline storytellers bring you all-new tales of horror and heroism, of pain and delight, of deadly despair and soaring courage. The war between beats and bloods is blazing. Pick a side.
    Members Reviews:
    Great collection!
Would you listen to V Wars: Night Terrors again? Why?
Yes, definitely. What I liked best is that there was a lot of background for the different V's. Really well-built story!
Which character as performed by the narrators was your favorite?
I do not remember having listened to them, but their job here was FANTASTIC. Each narrator brought something new to the table and was wonderful as their character.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and no. While I loved the stories enough to listen in a single 15-hour sitting, the fact that there were multiple stories and narrators made it all the better to listen a little every day!
    decent continuation of the series
much more an assortment of storiea rather than progress of a plot. any progression comes about by some contrivance of change in moral outlook of some characters. Not as good as the previous 2 vwar books, but still a good read. I especially like the "big Charlie" story arc
great installment of the z wars
I really liked the continued storylines from the previous book. The stories were all well written and entertaining.
    FANTASTIC
    Listened for Fun (Audible)
    Overall Rating: 4.00
Story Rating: (ranged) 3.5 to 4.5
Character Rating: (ranged) 3.5 to 4.5
Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)
Read It Rate It Thoughts: This is the second set of V-Wars stories that I have listened too and I am fascinated by them. This one particularly delved into the different types of "V's" and that appealed to the history lover in me (great cultural and ethnic tie-ins). The stories are well paced and lace together pretty seamlessly. I think fans of fringe science will particularly like it because there is a lot of little intricacies explored in the types of V's. Also fans of stories like World War Z will love it because of the broad spectrum of little stories all connected. Overall this is quickly becoming a not miss for me.
    Audio Thoughts:
Narrated by: full cast, Cassandra Campbell, Gabrielle de Cuir, Richard Gilliland, Jamye Grant, Stephen Hoye, Alex Hyde-White / Length: 15 hrs and 36 mins
This is a DO NOT MISS on audio type of performance. Each narrator nailed their parts and worked together really well. I love full-cast recordings because it feels more like an old radio show.

About this story, author Django Wexler says, "'The First Kill' is a bit of backstory for the universe of The Shadow Campaigns. It's always hard to give a proper spotlight to the villains in a novel where they don't get a POV, so I wanted to take this chance to explore that a little. The Shadow Throne implies a connection between Andreas, Duke Orlanko's brutally efficient go-to killer, and Sothe, the Gray Rose, his best agent turned bitter enemy. In this story, we get to see these two at an earlier point in their careers, and take a look at how that relationship got started."

    Nothing new about Valentine's story
What did you love best about The Evil We Love?
In my opinion, this story added nothing to the story already presented above. Not to mention that only reinforces the adolescent behavior to follow charismatic people unquestioningly
Would you be willing to try another book from Cassandra Clare and Robin Wasserman ? Why or why not?
Yes, because I think they can write good stories together.
Have you listened to any of Chris Woods other performances before? How does this one compare?
To be honest, I don't remember, but I liked his voice, his reading held by it is easy to understand for foreigners. He articulates well the words and to maintain a steady pace
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    No.
    Any additional comments?
    No.
    Accents...
The narrator could not do accents very well, but otherwise great! The story focuses more on the past and had very little of George anyway.
The Circle Days and Sizzy Feels
    Any additional comments?
We got to see Circle Era Robert Lightwood, his parabati Micheal Wayland, Valentine, and glimpses of Jocylen and Lucien. A wonderful story that gives you extra insight into the circle days, we also get some wonderful Sizzy moments!
    How much I love Simon!
you love him more and more with each passing book. Simon and izzy are so opposite it actually makes sense. can't wait for ascention!
    Love it
Just love this series just wish they would STOP changing narrators. I love Simon Lewis
