Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 22 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
Firstly, you'll no doubt notice there's some serious audio weirdness going on. Sorry! Hopefully it doesn't distract too much. We'll make sure it doesn't happen again.
This episode, we dive into the world of bullets, bombs and babes, with Andy Sidaris' Do or Die! It's all part of our next big project to look at the final seven films from the ever wonderful Sidaris family, and we're joined by our buddy Mike, and also Made for TV Mayhem's Amanda! Buy her book! It's called Are You in the House Alone? A TV Movie Compendium 1964-1999.
In this installment of the BBB/LETHAL Ladies franchise, six teams of assassins, sent out by Kane (Pat Morita) are after legendary government agents Donna and Nicole. So they go on the run, along with their friends from the agency, and also Erik Estrada. Also, Pat Morita gets a handjob.
Plus, we couldn't begin this look at the Sidaris films without taking a look at the life and times of Andy himself. Not only would late night TV not have been the same without him, but nor would sports broadcasting!
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 20 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks! The big two-oh!
This week, we're checking out the first of the Personals movies, with 2001's Personals: College Girl Seeking. Jimmy Ether is back. Also Drew, but he didn't watch the movie. Anyway, it's about Juliette, who's doing her doctoral thesis on sexuality, and decides that the way to really get it to pop is to go out and have sex with a variety of different people advertising in the personals section of the paper. Ethically dubious? You bet! But it turns out she still manages to get it accepted, so that's a happy ending.
Please note there are some very significant spoilers for season 6 of 24 in this episode, so if you're sensitive about that please avoid 1:11:10 through 1:11:25 (I'm sure there are people who still plan to watch it some day).
We also take a look at the life and times of porn super-star Tera Patrick, who's on the cover of this film despite only playing a supporting role. She has a degree in microbiology, turns out!
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 19 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
It's the end of an era, as we reach the final movie in Rolfe Kanefsky's triumphant Emmanuelle Through Time series: Emmanuelle's Forbidden Pleasures! Turns out the whole series has been a secret sequel to the Sex Files series, and also that every previous Emmanuelle is the same Emmanuelle but in a different body and/or dimension. It is both exciting to be moving on to another series in a few weeks time, and mildly sad to have reached the end of this one. Things get a bit sappy at one point.
We also turn the spotlight onto the life and career of Frances Reagan James, aka Russia Hardy, who plays official military psychic Mandy in the series, and is trained in like 300 different types of dance.
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 18 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
This episode, we dip our toes into the heady world of Zalman King, and get classy as all heck with his 1988 Southern romance epic Two Moon Junction! Can Alabama senator's daughter Sherilyn Fenn resist the charms of frequently shirtless working class bozo Richard Tyson? Of course not - it's a Zalman King movie, and he's all about the delicious irresistibility of the working class man.
As a bonus, IMDB's parents' guide says you can see Fenn's anus briefly, by the way. Since we recorded this episode, Drew's actually gone and verified that. So that's fun.
We also chat about the life and times of the late, great Mr King, from his time as a commercial diver, through his years as an actor, and finally his years as a genre defining director. 'Soft in the Middle: The Contemporary Softcore Feature in Its Contexts' author David Andrews says, "more than any other individual”, King “facilitated the emergence of contemporary softcore". Good work, Zalman King!
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 17 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
This time around, we bring back our best Canadian bud Holly to engage in a little celebration of our glorious Commonwealth, as we check out John D. Lamond's 1978 Australian softcore classic Felicity! Dr Snuggles tries to make a few jokes about the late '90s TV show starring Keri Russell, which this film has no connection to. They go badly because all he can remember is that she cut her hair and everyone lost their shit.
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 16 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks! And this is the big one!
This episode, we look at the sixth episode of the Emmanuelle Through Time series, Adventures into the Woods: A Sexy Musical, aka Emmanuelle in Wonderland, aka Emmanuelle's Sex Tales. And who better to talk about the movie with than writer and director Rolfe Kanefsky?!
Yes, superstar director Rolfe Kanefsky joins us for an epic three hour episode of Get Soft, in which we chat about his career as both a writer and director, talk about how you manage to make seven films in just 54 days, and also find out what it's actually like working with the inimitable Robert Donavan. Spoiler: it's so awesome that Rolfe literally cannot stop doing it.
All that and much, much more! This really is the big one!
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 15 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
In preparation for our look at the musical episode of the Emmanuelle Through Time series, this time we check out one of its influences: one of the original '70s softcore musicals, Fairy Tales from 1978. It's got a pretty bananas cast: Martha Reeves is there (although she probably didn't quite know why), Sy Richardson, soft country singer Don Sparks (who will now come and play in your lounge room, if you ask nicely), Nocturna star Nai Bonet, obnoxious stand-up comic 'Professor' Irwin Corey, and an unrecognisably young Linnea Quigley in her very first screen role.
Also, we take a look at another one of the movie's stars: the late, great Angela Aames, who later went on to appear in H.O.T.S. and Jim Wynorski's action-adventure classic The Lost Empire!
Plus, we're joined once again by the one and only Jimmy Ether, who is in fine form and leads us down conversational rabbit holes you wouldn't even have dreamt we'd go down.

Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 14 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
We're back to the comforting embrace of the bikini comedy once again this episode, as special guest Jaymz from The Derong Guys podcast pops by to discuss Gary Orona's cartoony 1993 film The Bikini Car Wash Company II! As with the last one, it's packed with music and dance/strip sequences, although we find with some disappointment that the band selected for this installment - A.Z.R.O - can't hold a candle to Shake City or New Haven.
Plus, we talk about the life and times of music video legend Beckie Mullen, who appears in the film! Not only has she done 40+ music videos, but she was also Sally the Farmer's Daughter in the first couple of seasons of G.L.O.W.! Turns out her wrestling is far more impressive than her rapping, though.
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 13 of our spin-off show about the weird world of softcore skin-flicks!
This time around we get a special guest to help us out: Hub, from the fantastically wonderful Titan Up The Defense podcast! So that's exciting! We watched Dracula (The Dirty Old Man) which was...less exciting. Definitely fitting for our unlucky 13th episode, and very close to being our Waterloo, but we still manage to pack in all the laffs and gags you're used to! More or less anyway.
Plus, because practically no one else in this film had what you might politely call anything even resembling a career in film, we go in depth into the life and times of its production manager, Chuck Alford. No, really.
