    Sour grapes
The book was just as good as the previous one. I totally enjoyed it. Can't wait to hear the next one
she is such a southern Belle
Fun to listen to with every twist and turn and so many characters you get to know them all
    Beauty is a B#@%&
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably, the book continues the series. I liked most of the past books in the series better than this one. I don't like the weakness that comes out when Savannah deals with her sibling. Just don't like the snotty screw you attitude of the sister. I spent most of the time saying grow up already.
If youve listened to books by G. A. McKevett before, how does this one compare?
I have only listened to the Savannah Reid Series so these are the only one's that I can compare to. I do like the series. I do like the writing. Each story has it's own strengths and weaknesses.
Which character as performed by Dina Pearlman was your favorite?
In this book Savannah definitely stands out.
Was Sour Grapes worth the listening time?
Yes though I wish the storyline was a bit stronger. Maybe on the re-listen I'll appreciate it better.

    Members Reviews:
    They are not Us
This view into an isolated Japanese village and introduction to the deepest thoughts, desires and motives of the residents after the murder of the beloved english teacher is worth reading for cultural insight alone. Add to that, the arrival of Mr. Tommy, the new english teacher, escaping some cultural confusion of his own. He battles, not what is said in the language he barely understands, but what is left unsaid, the harsh winter climate, and the struggling local factions which resulted in the death of his predecessor. This is not the picture of Japan or Japanese culture you have in mind, but it is an image you can't put down.
    Excellent story, superb storytelling
I bought this Kindle edition under the $1.99 special deal. It is easily the best "low cost" Kindle book I have ever read. The story weaves together a set of truly interesting, often greatly troubled, characters into a tale to which most adults can relate.
In the end, there is redemption for three of the key characters, if not in their direct effect on the outcome of the tale, at least in the reader's understanding of their motivations.
    Highly recommended.
    Layered
I think one of the best things you can say about any book is that you canât think of another one like it.
Thatâs the case with "Red Sky, Red Dragonfly." The cool but colorful writing style, the intercontinental story, the unsentimental portraits of a wide variety of characters, and the ever-growing realization of how well Galligan has layered the work, flailing hockey sticks in one country echoing the flying kendo sticks in another.
I was already a fan of Galliganâs work, having enjoyed three mysteries in his fly fishing series featuring trout bum Ned âThe Dogâ Oglivie. (Check them out.) Galligan brings the same dry-eyed writing style to "Red Sky," a sprawling story that doesnât lend itself to easy synopsis. In his âmysteries,â a novel is prone to pop out. In Red Sky (âa novel byââ) a mystery (no surprise) lies at the core.
From the back cover: âWhen a young American teacher disappears in small-town Japan, the next teacher, an older man on the run from his troubled life, must find out the truth. Told from multiple viewpoints, Red Sky, Red Dragonfly explores the perilous attraction between men and women of different cultures, and the position of the white man in the new century.â
I couldnât do much better than that, except urge readers to stick with Galligan as he moves back and forth from Japan to the United States and also back and forward in time. As with the âKnotâ series, Galligan is not a big believer in holding the readerâs hand. Heâs fine to let his main character chill for a bit while he work on another corner of the canvas. The pieces appear disconnected at first and then the bigger picture comes slowly into focus as each character comes around and their role in the tale becomes apparent.
We first meet Tommy Morrison coming into Japan. Heâs got hockey in his background, a troubled marriage at home in the United States. Then we meet high school student Miwa Sato after calculus class in the town of Kitayama.

    Critic Reviews:
"Badwater is superb. It has a great plot with many twists and surprises, featuring real-life characters. The author did a very find job of characterizing the disconnect between all the measures intended to assure safety and the reality of things sometimes being unsafe. Truly well-written and engaging. A joy to read." (David Lochbaum, head of the Nuclear Safety Project, Union of Concerned Scientists)
"Forensic geology is cool, and the setting in Death Valley perfectly matches the plot...The whole situation feels creepy and dangerous throughout." (ScienceThrillers.com)
This is a fast paced thriller with the terrifying theme of radiation exposure as a weapon. CSI type fans will appreciate the science... and even those of us less well versed in the technical side will feel the fear and horror as events unfold. (Bookstack Reviews)
    Members Reviews:
If you like series 'Bones', you'll like Badwater
What made the experience of listening to Badwater: The Forensic Geology Series the most enjoyable?
It reminds me of the entertaining, suspense writings of Kathy Reichs (and the tv series 'Bones') which focuses on the use of forensic anthropology. Here instead, the subject is forensic geology - which very few, if any suspense authors write about.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Oh, yeah! Cassie and Walter's jeep getting sabotaged, stranding them in Death Valley; the findings in the caves, not knowing where the killer was hiding; not knowing if anyone or everyone was getting radiation poisoning or not. The author did a great job with the realism of the topic and even had an ending with a twist to it.
What about Christine Padovans performance did you like?
She made Cassie's voice a bit tomboyish and matter-of-fact but not overly geeky - which fit the character to a T. Walter sounded appropriately grizzled as the older, slightly ailing mentor to Cassie. All of Ms. Padovan's voice choices seemed to fit each character very well.

    Publisher's Summary:
When Deon Meyer's Thirteen Hours won the Barry Award for Best Thriller, one of international crime fiction's most electrifying writers finally began to get the American attention he so richly deserves. With seven novels published in 20 languages (all available on audio), Meyer has set countless hearts racing with gripping stories that mix the violence, politics, natural beauty, and history of his native South Africa.
In Thirteen Hours, homicide detective Bennie Griessel struggled to solve the murder of an American girl, find her missing friend, and avoid drinking again, all in a single day. In Seven Days, Griessel is given another nearly impossible task. Two police officers have been shot, and the department has received an email from the shooter alleging a cover-up in a cold case. He threatens more violence until the case is solved.
The case in question is the murder of Hanneke Sloet, an ambitious lawyer stabbed to death in her luxury apartment. There's no apparent motive and no leads, just a set of nude photographs and an ex-boyfriend with a rock-solid alibi. Then more policemen are shot and the pressure mounts. Can Bennie solve the case and stay sober? Seven Days is a gripping adventure by a fantastic writer at the top of his game.

    Another enjoyable escapade
Would you listen to Cast in Stone again? Why?
    Possibly
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Most entertaining imersion reading experience. I stayed with kindle and audible books until done.
What about Patrick Lawlors performance did you like?
Super narrator/performer for this series. He captured Leo and his misfit band perfectly.
    Enjoyable PI fare
I reviewed the first book in the series and I could almost copy and paste that review here. It has the same basic format and feel. You don't need to read the first one to enjoy this one. These are not 'gritty' or intense PI novels. They will make you snicker. There was no nail biting, no non-stop action, no severe head scratching confusion. What you will get is amusement, mystery and a story line that should hold your interest. Not too simple, not overly complex, not profound. But definitely enjoyable.
The narrator was great. His voice matched my impression of Leo Waterman. His tone worked well with the overall feel of the book.
The opening chapter alone justifies 4 stars!!
I wish all authors would write opening chapters that leave the listener anticipating more. That is what G.M. Ford does with Cast in Stone. I am listening to the PI Leo Waterman series in random order. This is the second novel. Waterman is still poor because his dad's will delayed his huge inheritance until his 45th birthday. Cast in stone is a solid suspense mystery/thriller with outstanding narration. This is a fun series.
    That was fun!
Fun! But the author occasionally makes it unnecessarily gross. I will buy another of this series.

    Publisher's Summary:
In this second entry from The New York Times best-selling series by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown, the citizens of Crozet, Virginia, reap a gruesome harvest - of human body parts.
Ever since her husbands affair, Mary Minor Harry Haristeen has taken a sabbatical from men. The 30-ish divorcée is content to tend her farm and gain a birds-eye view of the neighbors from her perch as small-town postmistress. Yet when a hunky city slicker comes to town with no clue about farming, shes happy to show him the ropes. When pieces of a dismembered body crop up around Crozet, however, the wary townsfolk reckon the handsome stranger is the culprit. But as Harry and her sleuthing pets - Mrs. Murphy the cat and Tee Tucker the dog - sniff out the clues, they have other notions.
While the unique trio follows a curious trail, Kate Forbes charming narration captures the spirit of each colorful character - whether human, feline, or canine.

If you could sum up Rest in Pieces in three words, what would they be?
    Cat, Dog, Postmisstress
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite is Boom Boom Craycroft. Who hasn't known a woman like that?
Which character as performed by Kate Forbes was your favorite?
My favorite is Mrs. Murphy. Why? I can imagine a cat with that attitude. Imagine her? I had a cat just like her!
    Any additional comments?
I love this series in spite of the slightly corny gimmick of the cats and dog that can understand their humans and react in a terrifically human way. Don't we all wish it were true?
    Another Murphy classic
There were a few too many characters to keep straight, but overall a good Murphy solved mystery

Ben knows how to patch bullet holes below the waterline and Rebecca knows how to estimate time of death. And they agree that the West End marina is the right place to bring the body. To avoid trouble, they play it dumb and treat the cocaine-smuggling marina tenants as the divers and sport fishermen they are pretending to be.
Unfortunately, the mailbox corporation in Miami that owns the yacht ignores Bens $100,000 salvage claim - and the Bahamian police wont let him move the yacht to Florida. The harder Ben and Rebecca press their claim, the more sinister West End becomes. Should they cut their losses and run? Or is it too late already?

An Intellectually Stimulating & Romantic Thriller
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend this audio book to a friend. It engages the intellect as themain characters, Ben Candidi and his fiancee, apply their knowledge of science and medicine, respectively, to unravel the mystery of the murder. It is also consistently maintains a high level of suspense, from chapter to chapter, so the reader is unwilling to interrupt listening until the end. It also reveals am current trend common to all governments, the rising corruption and baseness of those who get a taste of power.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, the plot, kept me in suspense, as, Ben Candidi and his fiancee, gradually gathered clues about the potential murderers and progressively increased the risk of being injured or killed by the members of the illegal drug trading club; especially so after the bungled poisoning attempt as Ben Candidi kept delaying his stay to get bureaucratic approval for leaving the Bahamas with the salvaged yacht.
    Which scene was your favorite?
The final scene when the Andrew and Bahamian police officer caught up with Ben and his fiancee in their sailing boat and revealed the truth of the investigation he had secrretly carried out.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, the moment when the Bahamian officer reveals the truth of what happened in the scene described above.
    Any additional comments?
The story was very well written. Though the performance was very good, the voice representing the main character seemed somewhat immature, more like that of a teenager, than of a man in his early thirties.
    very good story line.
If you could sum up Bahamas West End Is Murder in three words, what would they be?
    very good plot.
What did you like best about this story?
    story detail
Which character as performed by Michael Yurchak was your favorite?
    Ben Candidi
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The hold book very to stop listening
    Any additional comments?
    I would like books Wyle
Great story and a professional reading job.
Where does Bahamas West End Is Murder rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I've long been a fan of Ben Candini, and the audio book did not disappoint me.

Some LAPD characters from Wambaughs acclaimed Hollywood Station series are here: the surfer cops Flotsam and Jetsam, aspiring actor Hollywood Nate Weiss, and young Britney Small, along with new members of the midwatch, all gamely coping with the wackiness of Hollywood. Its a tale only Wambaugh could have told, with his trademark dark humor and unflinching eye for detail.

Razor-edged dialogue punctuates the vignette-filled plot. Realistic criminals are well matched by Wambaughs equally authentic police. (Publishers Weekly, Starred Review)

    Publisher: Random House Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 85 votes

    Publisher's Summary:
In The Road To Gandolfo, Robert Ludlum introduced us to the outrageous General MacKenzie Hawkins and his legal wizard, Sam Devereaux, whose plot to kidnap the Pope spun wildly out of control into sheer hilarity. Now Ludlum's two wayward heroes return with a diabolical scheme to right a very old wrong - and wreak vengeance on the (expletive deleted) who drummed the hawk out of the military. Their outraged opposition will be no less than the White House.
Discovering a long-buried 1878 treaty with an obscure Indian tribe, the Hawk - a.k.a. Chief Thunder Head - hatches a brilliant plot that will ultimately bring him and his reluctant lawyer Sam before the Supreme Court. Their goal: to reclaim a choice piece of American real estate - the state of Nebraska. Which just happened to the be the headquarters of the U.S. Strategic Air Command!
Will they succeed against the powers that be? Will the Wopotami tribe ever have their day in the Supreme Court? From the Oval Office to the Pentagon, all the president's men are outfitted, until it rests with CIA Director Vincent "Vinnie the Bam-Bam" Mangecavallo to cut Sam and Hawk off at the pass. And only one thing is certain: Robert Ludlum will keep us in nonstop suspense and side-splitting laughter - through the very last page.

    Any additional comments?
Scott Brick knocks it out of the park with the best voices and some of the most memorable characters I have ever heard. If you read The Road to Gandolofo then you know what a merchant of chaos General Macenzie Hawkins is but this book takes him to a another level. With the help of multiple lunatics, he drags Sam Devereux kicking and screaming into a huge conspiracy that may be bigger than collecting certain "religious artifacts". This may be one of the best credit investments ever for me.

    Publisher's Summary:
A blazingly original, electrifying mystery of love and loss from the haunted imagination of Amelia Gray.
In the dead of winter, David, a retired dentist in an unnamed town in Ohio, is pretty sure his wife, Franny, is dead. But he cant quite figure out what killed her or why she had to die. Disoriented by grief, David struggles to unravel these mysteries - which become increasingly baffling when he starts finding a series of elaborate and escalating threats hidden around his home: "I will gather your oldest friends at my home and we will have a conversation." "You will hear us talking but when you come into the room we will stop talking."
Who left these notes? Was someone out to get Franny? Are they coming for him?
Unfortunately for David, Detective Chico is also on the case and is intent on asking him questions that he doesnt know the answers to and introducing him to people - including a therapist who is practicing dream analysis in Davids garage without his knowledge or consent - who dont appear to have Davids best interests in mind. With no one to trust, David is forced to rely on his own memories and faculties, but they, too, are proving unreliable.
Full of psychological twists and turns, Threats beautifully balances moments of utter bewilderment and perfect clarity. Amelia Gray builds a world that is eerie yet familiar, violent yet tender. With ability and precision far beyond her years, Gray grabs you on the first page and never loosens her grip.

    Experimental Fiction
Where does Threats rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I'm glad it was short. Threats features some of the best writing I've come across in a while. However, the story itself was lacking. Great atmosphere, creepy characters, chilling setup, building tension, and then... poof. It suddenly ended. Readers smarter than I probably appreciated it for that very fact, but I prefer a little more payoff in the books I choose to read. Luckily it was short, and I don't really feel I wasted 7 hours of my life. I will keep thinking on this one and maybe revisit it down the road.
If youve listened to books by Amelia Gray before, how does this one compare?
My first Amelia Gray book. I will probably investigate some of her short stories down the road, just for curiosity's sake.
Have you listened to any of Hillary Hubers other performances before? How does this one compare?
Don't think I've heard Hillary Huber before, but she did a great job with this one. Her forced, dry tone added to the atmosphere of the novel in a meaningful way.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Sure, I kept hoping it was going somewhere.
    Any additional comments?
Don't buy this unless you're fan of experimental fiction.
    UGH
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Didn't understand the book at all.
