I loved it! It was hilarious at times, had steamy moments and I could relate to many events in the story. I will read it again. The reader is a good as well. I wish that Memory Mambo was read by Jennifer Doyle as well. I will have to buy the actual book and read it myself because the author Achy Obejas is Awesome.

She becomes attracted to a female glass artisan, one of her mothers friends, that has a history of manipulating those who care about her. While exhibiting their works at an art show, Judith and her mother become entangled in a grisly murder.
    Editorial Reviews:
Elements of the uncanny abound in Jack Bates The Bending of Glass: A middle-aged photographer who moves back in with her schizophrenic mother, a famous artist whose paintings usually revolve around a mysterious waifish girl, and an artist who works in beautiful flowing glass and has problems with an abusive boyfriend, all coalesce when a murder takes place involving a glass fragment. Laurel Merlington performs this first-person mystery with enthusiasm. She delights in voicing the mothers various and colored personae. The mystery unfolds with artistry in the context of a quaint art show and becomes more enigmatic as the local police get involved and the plot takes unexpected turns.

    Nothing spectacular.
I must admit I found that there was nothing spectacular in the story, but okay if you want to listen to something for a short time.

Where does Demon's Dance rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
After reading the reviews i didn't know if i wanted to get this book. I'm glad I did. Tristin and corey's story was good, enthralling even. The creepy older guy was weird but i understand why he was there. I'd listen to this story again.
What other book might you compare Demon's Dance to and why?
    Horns Gate
Which character as performed by Max Tatch was your favorite?
Coreys (smooth and sexy) Tristin ( submissive) creepy older guy (great accent)
If you could take any character from Demon's Dance out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Corey, i could be friends with him
    Any additional comments?
I probably have said it before but max thatch has an amazing voice, i think i might be a little in love with it.
    A bit uneven
This book left me feeling a bit out of sorts actually. I thought the first part of the book was really good. The various twists and turns in the relationship between Cory and Tristan really drew me in and the possibility of what Blanco was up to was an interesting hook as it made me wonder where the story was going.
However, after the showdown at Cory's art showing I felt it lost something in the writing. It was almost like the author had spent all the time building up to the showdown that they weren't sure how to finish the book, leading the writing to become sluggish and sort of all over the place after that climax. Almost like the story peaked too early and lost the dramatic punch 2/3rds of the way through.
Even so, I did enjoy the beginning of the book and the ending, while it left a bit to be desired, held together enough that I could get through it. However, with the way the book finished I'm not sure I'd give the author another chance.
    DEMON'S DANCE
Unbelievably bad. I kept hoping for a redeeming factor; however, it never came. Though rating required I fill in a minimum of one star, I am more inclined to give it none.
    Fantastic!
Would you consider the audio edition of Demon's Dance to be better than the print version?
The audio was fantastic. Unfortunately, being blind, I can not compare with the print.
What did you like best about this story?
The Narator! Each voice was distinct and Mr Tach made me feel like I was there.
    Any additional comments?
If Ms Brett ever has another book on audible I'd so buy it!

Field Journal of Jonathan Orms, 1893
"En route to polite exile in the Galapagos Islands (field work, to quote the dean of my university), I have found myself marooned on a deserted tropical paradise. Deserted, that is, except for my savior, a mysterious American called Marcus. He is an inventor and the proof of his greatness is the marvelous new clockwork arm he has created to replace the unsightly one that was ruined in my shipboard mishap.
"Marcus has a truly brilliant mind and the gentlest hands, which cause me to quiver in an unfamiliar but rather pleasant way. Surely it is only my craving for human companionship that draws me to this man, nothing more? He says a ship will pass this way in a few months, but I am welcome to stay as long as I like. The thought of leaving Marcus becomes more untenable with each passing day, though staying would be fatal to my career....

    Cheesy & unbelievable
I wanted to like this book but couldn't. Suspending belief is one thing in fiction but incredulous is another. The main character is saved on a deserted island but the Robinson Crusoe not only has everything including a workshop, sheet metal from trading a few duck eggs with a passing ship but manages to construct a new bionic prosthetic for the hero in the 3 days he's been unconscious.
The speed with which the two characters fall in love added to the improbable speed of the homosexual awakening just adds to the sense that this is a book designed for early teenagers if it were not for the erotic content.

    A lot of hype
What did you love best about Loving Lucas?
I liked the characters a great deal. It was easy to feel a lot for them in a short amount of time.
Would you be willing to try another book from Lisa Marie Davis? Why or why not?
Of course. Her story was well done and well put together. I was hooked from the very start.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Matthew Brown?
I am not sure. He wasn't bad at all, though I felt like he should have gone SLOWER. There was no need to zip right through it. I'm sure if he slowed down, this might have been longer. I'm not sure if some narrators are trying to keep a time limit or what.... he was able to switch between the voices easily though. well done.
    Any additional comments?
Judging from the comments, I was under the impression that this book was the second coming. don't get me wrong, it was good. but I'm not sure if it was worth the amount I paid for it. I was satisfied with my purchase but to be honest, the hype built it up too much. I do recommend this book. it's a fun read and well put together.
    ***Tender, Loving, and Tortured**
If you could sum up Loving Lucas in three words, what would they be?
    See my headline***
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lucas. He is such a loving human being who is trying to put his life back together and regain his self -confidence, that you can emphasize with this character. He is special and in need of a loving, consoling presence.
Which character as performed by Matthew Brown was your favorite?
Lucas was definitely my favourite character and performed very well.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The revelation of events that occurred in Lucas's past made me cry. For him.
    Any additional comments?
This is a remarkable story, really heart wrenching at times. Lovely.
    What's worse?
Canadian accent and hearing "aboot" a thousand times or the fast paced no inflection voice?......
A brief love story that left me wanting more
I honestly didn't realize how short this book was until I downloaded it onto my phone and realized it was an hour and 55 minutes. I was horrified that I downloaded a short story, but decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did. This little love story is full of romance and raw emotion. I was surprised by how quickly I became invested in Nick and Lucas.

Luke Scherer has turned bad romance into an art. When he catches his latest deadbeat boyfriend selling Luke's belongings - and his own body - to cover his debts, Luke decides he needs a vacation. He just doesn't expect his Napa Valley retreat to be a step into his past.
Eight years ago Mal Kuijpers was grieving his wife while his vineyard floundered. Hiring Luke for the summer put the business back on track and a smile back on Mal's face.
Nineteen-year-old Luke had just gotten out from under his father's thumb and started saving for his education, his last screw-you to his old man. Then he made the mistake of falling for his boss, his dad caught up with him, and Luke panicked-and fled.
Now they have another chance. Mal has his own share of closet skeletons, including a family he doesn't talk to and a dead wife he sometimes does, and he's gone without romance for years. He works hard to convince Luke he's worth more than a casual fling and asks for nothing in return, but Luke needs a relationship of equals. If Mal can believe in himself and Luke can believe in love, two hot summers might yield a lifelong reward.

    Slow start but fun overall
    Any additional comments?
Luke is sent to Mals vineyard when his latest boyfriend is found selling Lukes stuff and his own body! Mal was in Lukes life years ago when Luke was young and running away from Lukes abusive father. Mal, at that time, was a recent widow and considered himself too old and too sad to get involved with Luke at that time.
Now Luke is feeling too cautious and insecure to want to jump right into another relationship, but Mal is ready and isnt shy about letting that be known.
The other major roadblock: Luke lives in LA, Mal in Napa. Luke is just now starting to really see his life on track and doesnt see how moving to the country can help his fledgling architecture career. Not to mention that Mal was married to a woman for years. Luke doesnt want to be an experiment.
However high the hurdles, these guys do manage to work through them all and we get a very HEA.
    **
This is the first book Ive read by herself, but Ive really enjoyed her collaborations.
I think that if I had been reading this book it would have been a bit easier to appreciate the flashback style she used (at the end of each chapter is a snippet from the past to give us the back story of Luke and Mal). As a listener it was a bit disconcerting to be wrenched from a scene and thrust into the past but it didnt detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.
I really like Mal as a character. He was seasoned but still had an air of innocence to him that was refreshing. He didnt play games and that was nice. I did think that it was odd that the couple would fool around without having sex for as long as they did, but I loved the relationship building that occurred.
The secondary characters were rich accompaniment to the main characters and I thought they added nicely to the overall book.
    Audio
John Solo did a GREAT job with this narration. Mals voice is growly and divine! He didnt make Luke over the top but was definitely a different character than Mal. I thought he handled the womens voices well and overall I really enjoyed listening to this story.

    A Blue Notes Novella
Are you a fan of the Blue Notes series? Would you like to know where the couples from the first four books are now? This is your chance to catch up!
Aiden and Sam are finally getting married. But when Cary and Antonio's baby daughter makes her appearance a bit earlier than planned, the big reception is put on hold. David Somers normally conducts orchestras, but this time he devotes his energy to "conducting" his friends so that everyone can join him at his Milan villa for a reunion at an intimate Thanksgiving dinner.
Sam and Aiden, Jules and Jason, David and Alex, and Cary and Antonio are soon assembled, and each couple shares something they are thankful for. Played out in four movements, this symphony is a celebration of friendship and love, orchestrated by David.
    Members Reviews:
Short, sweet, and really well done.
    Any additional comments?
Fans of the series get to see the couples from the first four Blue Notes stories come together in Milan for Thanksgiving. Lighter in angst, the couples reminisce and tell each other why they are thankful for each other. We get a chance to remember how everyone came together, what it is that we love about them, and see how they've been doing in the years since we last got to see them.
This is short, sweet, and really well done. As always, Andrew McFerrin gives a truly lovely performance.
    RECOMMENDED!
another great addition to the series
In books 1-4 we met these characters: Jules and Jason (Jazz musician and manager), Aiden and Sam (Lawyer and Opera Singer), David and Alex (Musician and Conductor) and Tonino and Carey (Lawyer and Cellist). They all had their love stories to tell. This is after. Theyve gathered for Thanksgiving both to celebrate the holiday and to wish Aiden and Sam congratulations on their engagement and to welcome Toninos and Careys new baby girl to the world.
Each couple has a little something more to add but Im not telling!
This was a very sweet epilogue of sorts and fun for fans of the series. If you havent read the books I doubt youd be as entranced, but Id recommend reading the entire series to fans of great writing, romance and music.
The audiobook is absolutely amazing! I have loved Peter B Brooke and his narrations of the previous four books, so I was cautious about this one. Why did they change? Will he be as good. There were ways that he was as good and in some areas I think even better. I LOVED it. He really and truly acted in the touching scenes like when Carey and Massi have their moment. He does all the accents very well and the kids and women too.
I very highly recommend this book and the audiobook and give it 6 of 5 hearts.

Completely Unexpected and Worth a Sequel
If you read the blurb describing the book, you will not have any idea how good it is. Two exceptionally different characters, molded by author Wilson into living, breathing examples of their "type," will grab you from the start and not let you go.
One of them, a laid back but not-to-be-messed with sheriff, Eugene Grey, is confronted early by an incongruity--a tough Federal Marshall with a distinct Southern Gentleman undercurrent, Forest O'Rourke. They set each other on fire from the start, and the book leaves a trail of plotlines and locations and from Colorado to Atlanta and Philadelphia.
The twist and turns will leave you alternately excited, hopeful, despondent and angry. You will mostly direct your anger at Forest, who cannot seem to right himself until a truly unexpected twist in the plot brings everything full circle.
I loved these men, the way they were presented in their own styles with their own languages, and their incredible love for each other. I only wish Mr. Wilson would continue their tale some day.
a fine story, in every way
This is a beautifully written story, starting in the "wild west" and moving on to southern and eastern cities in the late 1800's, following a love affair that was forbidden at the time but nonetheless compelling for the characters (and the reader). There's an undercurrent of suspense for much of the tale, as if the reader suspects that the protagonists are headed for a lot of pain and heartache, and they are. What's really nice, though, is that things get resolved in a way that doesn't seem contrived or silly, and the writing is erudite and intelligent without overwhelming the reader. There's far more than just a western tale here - it's a story that will involve and move you. This should be on the "to read" list of anyone who appreciates the work of a master story teller. Kudos to Wilson for this one.
    Romantic, but a Bit Rough
The first half was good, even with the assault and the fire, but I really did not care for the second half of this book at all. I felt like the author abandoned his readers and ran off with the story in a direction it did not need to go. And then the story just stops, a bit of an ending, but not much of one.
    Bud Irving
    He did it again.

I never wanted my dad to remarry. The idea of replacing my mom seemed absurd to me, but he went ahead and did it anyway. I don't know how he could have possibly have ever thought that I would accept them into my world, though. I didn't want a new mom, and I certainly didn't want a step brother stealing away my only living parent's attention. Another amazing Series Books from Jamie Lake......Exciting, sexy, and mysterious....Love it
Jamie has done it again with the amazing Book 3 of Bad Boys. The books are just getting better and better. Peter has gotten to the point now that he has to tell Chip Johnson of the situation he has created with his life. From being a kindergarten teacher along with being an erotic massage therapist to make ends meet, he has met the man he would like to make his life with and a boss who demands that he cannot meet up with Chip anymore because Tony (Boss) thinks Peter is his one. He has threatened Peter that he would break Chips legs literally if he continued to do so. In this book Tony is becoming more demanding, resorting to bugging his phone, his apartment, and possibly killing his roommate. When Peter got a text from his roommate which stated "HELP", he went to try and find him to no avail instead finding a broken in door to blood on the tub. After the text and Peter looking for him, Chip is beginning to ask questions. Peter is feeling more and more guilty about not telling Chip anything because of what he might think or do. When he stays at Chip's house that night, Peter has a nightmare which included Tony telling Peter he was a whore and that Chip wouldn't want a whore. Startled from waking from the nightmare, he notices that Tony has been trying to text him and call him. He turns the volume down and just goes back to sleep with Chip.
