This is the third book in this series and the blurb says the last instalment. It is best understood if you read them all in order. I have to say I am disappointed it's over but at the end of the book I do see there is more form the author and related stories though I will dearly miss Adam and Elliott.

Back to the story. Adam and Elliot have escaped Refuge Inc. They went back to the hospital but it's too late there and now food is running out. A group of other survivors run up on them to rob them for food and medicine.

I really I enjoyed how this story was a bit different form the last two. I was glad that Adam finally embraces his feelings. The emotions and physical connection between Elliot and Adam was beautiful and made me very happy! The twists just kept on coming and kept you on edge. I do have to say however I was reading along excited and bam it ended. I would have liked a bit more closure than I got but all in all it was a fantastic book and I was glad to see that Leslie has more coming and I can't wait to see what happened a century later!

I recommend this if you like post-apocalyptic, Dystopian, tales of survival, and some hot sensual man-sex.

It is at this point that I am have no issues in seeing the worst (and the best) of humanity come to the fore

The mysterious Refuge has now been revealed to be every bit as shady as we began to suspect even at the end of the first book when Adam and Elliot first arrived. However, getting away from refuge means that they encounter more dangers on the outside as the situation with other survivors is becoming more desperate. Food, water and medicine has become a precious commodity in the time (Iâm thinking its weeks or months after at this point) since the asteroid strike. It is at this point that I am have no issues in seeing the worst (and the best) of humanity come to the fore.

In terms of Elliot and Adamâs characters, by this point I had now forgotten by initial reservations when it came to the characters and I was completely invested in them, their survival and their relationship. The blend between the action and danger and romance is quite pleasing.

Where does Button Down rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed this. Two more different men you couldnt meet!

Ford is from a Southern State. His father is not only Mayor of their small town but also a Deacon in the church. He demands respect and obedience from his two sons and believes in traditional family values. His father was a bigot!

Gus was brilliant. Out, loud and proud and a great advocate for LGBT rights. Disowned by his family at 16 when his father discovered kissing another boy over their homework he has worked hard to get where he is. His previous boyfriend of three years was in the closet and has just gone through conversion therapy; he now claims to be happy, free of sin and has just married a woman.

The story stems around a community centre being built in a small town. Gus was the architect and didnt know that a group with extreme homophobic views was involved until after the contract ink was dry. He tries and fails to get himself out of his commitment. As this is happening he has a hot one night stand with Ford, and it is only after that night that he discovers Ford is the lawyer tasked with ensuring Gus finishes the job he has started.

This is not always a comfortable read as it deals with racism and homophobia but real life is not always comfortable. I liked Ford a lot, he may have spent his life in the closet and lived in fear of what his family thought but he was never negative about who he was and he never denied it to himself. Gus was always thoughtful about his predicament understanding what it felt like to lose your family.

The cast of characters in this story was important and you meet some very strong people. Some you will hate immediately but others will surprise you in their support and compassion. I personally think books like this are important, they show us if even for a small time that life isnt always easy, that we must persevere and that who we love is never wrong. It is worth mentioning the ending......not everything is fixed....again just like real life.

I would love to read a story about Thor!

Great narration on this one! There were quite a lot of characters and all were done perfectly IMO. Very easy to listen to and very clear.

A well written, single book romp! Fantastic!

The storyline is fresh and it stands out in a genre replete with "same 'ol, same 'ol". This is my first book by Dawn Kimberly Johnson and I look forward to more.

Return Home so I can be gay for you.

This was a very quick read. I was entertained, but wish it had been a bit longer, or at least given us some sort of epilogue. As it stands, we meet famous author Drew. We get a glimpse of his past, and his first love Colby. They had their first m/m sexual experience with one another, and instead of pursuing the m/m love that could have been... Colby distanced himself from Drew.... fast forward 10 years later and Drew must return home for his father's funeral. Colby is ready to confront Drew about their sexual encounter, and what he hopes the future can bring for them. Worth a credit? No. At this price, you can just buy it.

Is this the future?

Great read from the beginning to the end. This book was absorbed quickly. Good thing i can sleep at work!!!

In a postapocalyptic world, more or less one hundreds years in the future, the AIDS plague has evolved to its seventh stage; now to contract the virus, only a simple contact is needed, worst, even an indirect contact trough an object. Also the world is degenerated, and an extremist church has taken the power: the more tradiotionalist churches, Catholics, Jews and Baptists are considered heretics, and the homosexuals are relegated in ghettos, with the same confinement rules that are even too familiar for who knows history. But people doesn't know history: they can't learn from the past, since the past is lost. People remember bits of history and recreate their own personal history. San Francisco has one of the biggest ghetto, Angel Land, former The Castro, and among the people living there, legends and tales flow; the Parade is a big holiday, no one remember for which, Harvey Milk is a prophet, and people are waiting for his return, the Historic Landmarks (the Victorian House, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Headlands) are places that bound the captivity or the freedom...

Among all this, almost a Romeo and Juliet story takes place: Harvey Milk Walton brings a heavy name on his shoulder and starts the story like someone who cares only for his safety; but perhaps his name, or his good conscience, drives him toward another destiny. Elder Aram Johnson should be the enemy, one of those who push people like Harvey in the ghetto, but he is enthralled by Harvey; love for Aram is the power that will change his life.

The story is very complex and long, more than 220 pages of futuristic tale, but it's not at all boring. It has also its tender moment, along with some funny ones also. The love between Harvey and Aram, even if opposed, is easy, and they are really tender together; this is strictly a romance, not an erotic romance: there is not gratuitous sex, but only love. Love is a gentle companion of Harvey and Aram's path toward a different future, but it's not the main event in the story. And once again Victor J.

Masterfully Written

For years, Sean Meriwether has served as editor of two of the most cutting-edge web magazines out there: Outsider Ink (now shuttered) and Velvet Mafia: Dangerous Queer Fiction. During his time with both markets, Meriwether has found exceptional literature by some of the best writers working. Occasionally he's also thrown one of his own works into the mix and that is how I first discovered Meriwether as an author in his own right. Over the years, Meriwether has been amassing an enviable body of work and that, my friends, is a very good thing for us.

I've always enjoyed Meriwether's stories and I've always known that he is a damn good writer, but until I read his collected works in The Silent Hustler, I didn't fully realize just how exceptional a writer he is. When you read one of Meriwether's works as a stand-alone, you always come away satisfied, perhaps a little (and sometimes a lot) aroused, and definitely emotionally affected, though on the latter you might never quite be able to put your finger on the emotions you are feeling or how Meriwether pulled them out of you. His prose is clean and evocative, creating place and time with the simplest turns of a phrase, and his dialog is impeccable, sounding like real men in very real situations. There are no contrivances here. Not of character. Not of story. No manipulation. Just straight out stories about real people. And when read together as a whole, these works blend seamlessly together to take us on a really interesting and varied journey of growing, becoming and living as a gay man.

The journey starts off with the "literary" (although, honestly, all of it is literary) "Things I Can't Tell My Father." It's part tribute, part indictment, and an always honest look at a father and his son. It's alternately melancholic and funny, touching and bitter, joyful and sad. It also serves as a cautionary tale of how one's actions make your children who they become even if you don't realize it. It packs an emotional wallop, but it isn't heavy handed. And that's the key to this collection. It's understated. There's no manufactured drama here, it's all very real and quietly, almost subversively, effective.

Many of the pieces in this collection would be classified as "erotica," and let me tell you it is erotica in the very best sense of the word. The majority of the stories are sizzling hot, but what I appreciate about each one is that Meriwether never loses the men behind the acts. Unlike much erotica these days these days, Meriwether keeps his characters firmly rooted in their realities. Character never suffers for the sex and, most importantly, Meriwether imbues every single story with the emotional impetus for the sex.

Wolfgirl is action packed, Urban Fantasy, with a Lesbian Lead

The story centers around an augmented human petite woman who is a part time cop, part time bounty hunter/good guy for hire. Who happens to be a Lesbian. She and a young witch are hired to go into the "badlands" to save a rich families loved body guard who sacrificed herself so her much loved family could get out when they were attacked in the "badlands" The Badlands are gotten into by time riffs, and are a lot like the old west. Only with werewolves.

A gory bedtime story (short!)

I have to say this was quite underwhelming. It has a straightforward plot that commends the meeting of two weremen. It's overly and perhaps sickly full of high-praising romance; something you'd expect from a children's story. It is somewhat gory which brings some adult-ness back.

It's quite short. Almost worth a chapter. It doesn't tell us where these werewolves come from. Eg where their interesting names come from. Where it is or anything. Very simplistic.

I can't say you'll gain much from this intellectually but it might be good for a lullaby story. Worth 2.67? Probably not.

Enjoyable Sherlockian Story

Any additional comments?

Needing to take a business trip this week, I was looking for a story between 3-4 hours to help pass the time while traveling. This was 4 hours well spent. Jesus Reed's narration was very good. She had good pace, inflections, and tone. I also liked the differing voices between the genders.

The Hounding is a story that is written in the vein of the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with the same mysterious characters, several of whom have motivation to commit the crime being investigated. What's more, the story is written in the first person and from the perspective of Shirley Holmes' sidekick and soon to be partner, Dr. Watson. The characters in the Hounding are aware of their similarities with Sir Arthur's more famous fictional characters, which I appreciated.

Simply put, this story helped make the time at the airport not seem as long and tedious. Thank you!

Can't wait for more

A very fun and enjoyable read that you won't be able to put down till it's over. As a fan of Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes, I loved this mystery. Overall super fun and funny, would recommend.

At first I thought the narrator was going to be a bit irritating. The narrative was, for lack of a better word, staccato. As I continued to listen, however, the style of narration made sense. I would listen to Jess Reed again.

I look forward to listening to future books in the series (and read by the same narrator).

The Hounding

This was an interesting retelling of The Hound of the Baskervilles with reimagined, uber characters. I think the facts and clues surrounding the case could have used a little work, and with a couple re-reads and re-writes it would have been a great little story (I say this because the original and all subsequently reimagined characters implied to be Sherlock Holmes (that I'm familiar with) are known for their deductive reasoning skills; some of the jumps made in this book would have been much better and not look so much like guesswork and out of the blue had there been a couple things included along the way).

Sooo Good!!!

This one is for the m/m romance fan! It is a keeper too!!! This read/listen like a m/f romance...with all the antsy pulling of the heart-strings! I got so wrapped up in the characters that I was wanting a sequel even before the story was over...

Great smex after the plane ride!! One of the best m/m smex scene I have heard/read in a long time... It was refreshing...
