The theme is the romantic discovery of mates. The plot centers around the emotional turmoil involved when one mate is oblivious to love and happiness. Living with a painful past, Seth is not aware of what his instincts are trying to tell him. Seth did not understand why he found only Corey's scent so appealing, or why Seth desired only Corey's touch.

Corey has an optimistic personality, which balances the gloom in Seth. Corey also knew immediately that Seth is his mate. Nevertheless, Seth's lack of insight is the source of Corey's slide into a heartbroken darkness. The storyline illustrates how emotional stress has an effect on the physical wellbeing. The in-depth characters encourage the readers to experience Seth and Corey's misery, as well as their joy. Just when I thought all hope is loss, revelations leads to Seth and Corey's sensual make-up lovemaking scenes.

Lex Valentine has a talent for building romantic suspense, with an extremely enjoyable happy ever after climax.

I remember Fire Season and I remember also that my feeling was Lex Valentine is quite an expert on the "classical" paranormal romance, and for classical I mean het romance. This is not a critique, on the contrary, this is probably one of the few time I read an M/M romance where the het couples are as much interesting as the gay ones.

The Tales of the Darkworld series is mixed, I believe that in the past 6 books, 2 are gay and 4 are het, and even if I read only the 2 gay novels, judging by the females in the stories I read, the other 4 books have to be very good as well.

Fascinating listen

This book, a very graphic account of James (Jimmy) Carlton, weaves a story of a bisexual man beginning with his life in the 50s in England, and we learn about his struggles with his sexuality. In addition to learning about his numerous trysts, we get a glimpse of the metamorphosis in societal views.

Later in his life, Jimmy gets a second chance at life after nearly dying, and he starts on a new life, and he ends up a lay brother in a California monastery.

Who would have thung, right?

A fascinating read, no doubt!! Highly recommended!!

Making Beautiful Music

Aiden Lind is an international opera singer living the glamorous life in London and other European capitals with his partner, Lord Cameron Sherrington. Yet, under it all, he's still that boy from a poor southern town whose father still thinks a career as a singer is ridiculous. So, when he walks into a scene where his handsome, wealthy lover is cheating on him AGAIN, he is shattered, but knows he has to be strong enough to walk away.

His singing is his love, anyway, and so far, it has never let him down. When he happens to meet an old lover, there is a possibility of something that could be rekindled, but attorney Sam Ryan is has his own firm in Phildelphia. Can a long-distance relationship work with two important and busy careers?

Aiden and Sam are both distinct and very real characters, and despite the glamorous, high-profile life Aiden leads, he still has to deal with real life problems the same as Sam--particularly, the logistics of two people with lives trying to make things work. It is fascinating to see if and how they can manage it. And along the way are lovely, intense meetings of this bi-continental pair, along with visits to their friends, some of whom were featured in previous books (but reading those are not absolutely necessary to enjoying each different novel--although they are highly recommended!).

It was wonderful to be back in the world of music and art and law and love, with another of Shira Anthony's books!

Why talk when we can up the angst?

I don't think I can express how much I hate the lack of communication trope. I was frustrated through most of this book (I had the audible version) because every time one of them would try to talk, the other would stop them and just say "Later". And of course they never addressed it.

Other than that, the book was decent.

OH GOOD GOD...the narrator gave me a migraine!

This is a cautionary review.

As a fellow audio book lover, I implore you, DO NOT pay for this audio. Do not even THINK about listening to this audio. You need to RUN away from this audio. In fact, Audible needs to REMOVE this audio... immediately.

Lets be clear, the book wasn't fantastic to begin with, but listening to Trevor Clinger was excruciating.He gave me a migraine. I couldn't even finish the book. It was awful, and I mean awful. I would rather go to the dentist for three root canals, than be forced to listen to anything else he narrates.

I listen to a LOT of audio books, and some narrators drone on and on in a monotone, but this narrator wasn't just flat, he made every scene more painful than the last!The narrator pauses after EACH word. EACH word!! I don't know how he didn't hyperventilate!! I'm starting to have a panic attack just thinking about what I endured while trying to finish this audio.

Here's a sample of the narrator's style:

"Ethan *pause* knew *pause* Remy *pause* was *pause* special *pause* as *pause* soon *pause* as *pause* he *pause* met *pause* him *pause*."

It was probably painful just reading his words. Trust me, his audio is a thousand times worse.Honestly, it's low price is not worth the pain you will suffer while listening. I think his narrating will haunt me for the rest of my life.My goal is to spare you the pain.

In the gay erotica genre, this book is at the top. The narrators voice may have been slow, but it helped understand the story clearly. Most erotica narrators read it too fast for me to get a mental picture of the full setting.

Fun and interesting

I really enjoyed his audio book and the rest of the series. Think the characters are well developed and the story works well. There is a bit of fun erotic moments in there but is essentially a character led piece focusing on Bryce's coming to term with his sexuality and his love of his best friend Liam.

Scam of only 1 kiss

I'm accustomed to authors using the ploy of baiting listeners in order to get them to buy the next book, but this story takes that ploy to another level. This story is so little that it barely gives anything worth following-up on in the next story. It is really nothing beyond 1 brief, surprising kiss and then the end. The author spends all of her time describing the high school characters and does an ok job of it. But, as a result, the "romance" in "gay romance" in the title amounts to a split second of interest in a guy and another second of a kiss. It's a scam.

Taking by an Alpha

The man in this book was missing something in his life. Just to look at him on the outside you would think that he had it all. He had a nice house, a dream girlfriend, and a well paying job but yet something was missing.

HIs started to notice that he had homosexual thoughts. He liked being penetrated. He like when a man toughed him and he found that the only way to have sex with this girlfriend was to imagine he was with a man.

He found himself finding this man attractive at the gym and it did not help that he watched him get off in the shower. Now he found him self ready to see if this was what was missing in his life.

Not great

I listened to another audio book by the same author and wasn't impressed with the story or the narrator. I'm even less impressed with this one. I hate leaving bad reviews. I'm sure there will be people who enjoy this. I just wasnt. I pride myself in giving honest reviews, so that's what this is. Nobody disrespect intended.

couldn't get past the sing song narration

This story was short on plot and development. With the brevity of the story, good narration is so very important. Unfortunately, the end of each sentence was sung or drawn out so that it sounded that way and like a question mark. This is a miss for me.

An easy Favorite

Where does Partners in Crime: A Girl on Girl Jailbreak Romance rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

This is a good book. It was sweet and the author included a female hero. The jail break is really a surprise. The two main girls fall in love.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lulu she is just a lovable character. Riley was a fun character too. I like that she gave the girl Lulu time to accept the romance that had started and saved Lulu and her father. AJ Tipton is really great at bringing it all together in a short read.

Have you listened to any of Risa Pappass other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have not heard Rise before. She did a great job with the girls romance. She is well worth listening too.

If you could rename Partners in Crime: A Girl on Girl Jailbreak Romance, what would you call it?

I'm not sure the Jail break part is part of the surprise in the story.

maybe, The book was short and the story was a good start but I wish there was more about the new deal and the houses and less about the sexual tension between the characters.

I likes the different readers for the different characters. It made it very interesting.

Well Written; Really Well Performed

An intriguing introduction to what looks to be an interesting series, "The American Fathers: Swept Away" is smart, attention-grabbing, and really well performed. In a near future where powerful dynasties and families have all but taken the place of the government, college professor Sheila is convinced that America needs to turn away from this modern feudalism, or be destroyed. Is the attractive Jasira her enemy, or an ally in the upcoming struggle?

I enjoyed this audiobook a lot. I'm far more used to single narrator audiobooks, and was a little sceptical about the mixed cast, but I ended up liking it a lot. It was really well performed, and everyone had lovely voices (especially the voice actress for Jasira, Fawzia Mriza). There were a few issues with pacing, where the narrator might come back in too soon after a bit of dialogue, but they're easily overlooked, and didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book at all. I sometimes find audiobooks difficult to follow without the printed version in front of me, but not in this case. Short as it was, I fell in love with the main character in record time, and I'm super intrigued about what follows.

A good book, and a really good performance; I'm probably going to get my hands on the others in the series when I'm able to. I'd recommend this for lovers of suspense, science fiction, and romance.

This book came up as looking for reviews and I had a good idea of what it was about when I bought it.

I read for many reasonsâentertainment, learningâa look into niches of society that I know nothing about. The ManServant gave me a glimpse into the world of modern aristocracy and the life of a man who is a homosexual. (I found myself wondering if the English aristocracy really does still live with all that pomp and pretentiousnessâand are a large percentage of the men in merry old England so handsome, raunchy and ânaughtyâ??)

The Manservant is well written, well edited, descriptive, and humorous. I chuckled more than once. I have read sexual scenes in todayâs modern erotic romances that have pushed my âOMG- meterâ to a far higher level than those described in this book. There are hints at bondage and some spanking scenes- a bit of shoving and male roughness while making out, but mostly it was what any human does when they engage in sexual foreplayâtouching, caressing, kissing.

If you read this book, do it with an open mind. If you have strong feelings and beliefs about sexual preferences, be WARNEDâthis book will probably offend you; not because of the quality of the prose, but because of its basic contents.

I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who will read it and accept it for what it is, without wanting to crucify the authors work because they have a different belief about sexuality.

I should have read the reviews before buying. This is a rambling, directionless accounting of a butler's gay escapades which get tangled up with his employment. If that appeals, then so might the book.
