Viking Gods Vs. Lovecraft Gods, a Black Metal fan's dream
I read this one in two sittings, couldn't put it down, only the late hour and sleep intervened. Parts of the plot to me are metaphorical of today's world. Through all the books in this series is an interesting take on religion and politics. All written in a way where YOU decide who the good guys and bad guys are. I'm addicted to all the characters and some new ones were introduced in this one that I like already. Great plot, high adventure and fast moving. Come on, Elves, Wizards, Knights, Trolls, Dwarves, Zombies, Vampires, a misunderstood "Satan themed" warrior/character and like I said Viking Gods and Lovecraft Gods, what more could you ask for. A MUST READ SERIES FOR FANTASY FANS.
    Four Stars
    good book
    Good series.
I like the series but it is getting more and more confusing as the author is jumping around quite a bit.
In this book there are four different stories/plots, all inter-related going on. You almost need a score card to know who is who, the author does provide a glossary of people places and things.
    addictive material
Glenn Thater has done it again! Every book I've read in this series has driven me to immediately buy the next one. Great characters and a fast pace to keep you going.
    something for everyone
Again another great book so far there has been a bit of everything ! So without giving it away if you are a fane of myths and legend you need to read this series

Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Epic
    Publisher's Summary:
From the award-winning pens of Kim Iverson Headlee and short fiction veteran Patricia Duffy Novak come this darkly humorous mage-out-of-water tale:
A funny thing happened on the way to the battlefield.
Arthur, High King of Brydein, must fight the last of the rebel kings to acknowledge his right to govern them all: his old nemesis, King Urien of Dalriada. Before he can lead his army to where Urien's forces sit ensconced, however, a fey man appears from the midst of a sudden, eerie storm to block the way. The man claims to be the high king of an altogether unknown land...and he wields uncanny power the likes of which Arthur has never seen.
Garrin, High King of Helvar, steps into a patch of mist. A breath later, he's standing toe to toe with a man claiming to be the high king of an altogether unknown land...and this warrior-king is leading an army into Helvar, wielding a sword that resists Garrin's magic. Only, the man insists that his sword isn't enchanted and that Garrin isn't in Helvar anymore.
What the bloody hell - or five hells, in Garrin's case - is a high king to do?
Their encounter reeks of an enemy mage's dark arts, and no one is laughing.

    What a fabulous short story
A creative mix of King Authur and a King from another world who is thrown into Authur's path as he and his men attack the one outstanding King who refuses to bow to King Authur's power.
King Authur has no doubt his sister, Morgan is responsible for the Other World King and his magical powers. Instead of Authur and the Other World King fighting and killing each other, which was Morgan's plan, they become friends. The Other World King even helps in a special way to defeat the enemy.
I absolutely loved this story, despite my lacking the ability to remember their complex names. However, I do remember the fabulous three dimension-able characters that the authors have created..
This short story brings to life the true nature of King Authur better than any story I've read before.
The narrator's voices between the kings are so different that I thought there were two narrators. Fabulous narration!!!
Overall, it could not be better than this. This might very well be the best short story ever written and narrated.

    Author: Brandon Draga
    Narrator: Sandra Cullum
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 5 hrs and 56 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-17-17
    Publisher: Brandon Draga
Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Epic
    Publisher's Summary:
Enna Summerlark has spent her entire life as a farmer's daughter in the kingdom of Hallowspire, paying little mind to anything past what to sell at the next market day. When the next market day comes, however, strange events take place that will reunite her with an old friend, bring her into the world of a pair of sell-swords, and reveal a secret that will change Hallowspire forever, and cause ripples across the whole of the Four Kingdoms.
The first book in The Four Kingdoms Saga, The Summerlark Elf introduces listeners to compelling characters in an engaging world of swords and sorcery, personal turmoil and political intrigue!
    Members Reviews:
A light, pleasant coming of age fantasy novel well suited for a younger audience
Brandon Draga's "The Summerlark Elf" is a pleasant fantasy tale of a foundling's discovery of her true heritage, told in an almost sword & sorcery style that hearkens back to the likes of Michael Sullivan's "Riyria Revelations" series. Along the way she gathers a fellowship of new friends to accompany her journeys, notwithstanding the fact that some of them originally came to capture her.
The plot and characters are all very light, reading almost like an old-fashioned young adult novel. Everything proceeds along fairly predictable paths towards the warm conclusion, setting the stage for more books to come. If you're looking for Grimdark or weighty discourse, keep looking. It is, however, a relatively harmless way to pass some time in a fantasy setting with solid writing and characters you don't hate.
As a self-confessed grammar nerd, the extremely inconsistent use of punctuation and capitalization when a quote appears inside a longer paragraph that also contains description was annoying. But it rarely prevented comprehension so I'll just note it and move on.
I'd recommend this book for younger audiences, or for parents who want something more challenging for their youngster to read without having to worry about inappropriate content.
Quick read for fans of traditional fantasy
I tend to prefer more consumable, serialized works of fantasy when compared to the meganovels we saw as the industry standard for many years. I believe the genre is finally starting to move away from the 400,000 word entries in sprawling 10-book series spanning across decades. Embittered fans of these works that feel spurned by multi-year gaps between entries are starting to look towards smaller, more contained stories to fill their time.
The Summerlark Elf feels like just such a story. At its heart, The Summerlark Elf is a story about the importance of family, whether by blood or circumstance, and it tells it with genuine warmth and a modest cast of characters whose motivations are clearly expressed over the length of the novel. Fans of traditional fantasy or Dungeons and Dragons will feel right at home among the varied and diverse people of the 4 Kingdoms. All the traditional trappings are here: Elves, dwarves, halflings, thieves guilds, and dark plots that tangle and entrap the heroes of the story and force them to change and adapt to overcome each challenge.
The story itself primarily focuses on Enna Summerlark, an orphaned elf adopted as an infant by a merchant and his wife in a kingdom where fey creatures are persecuted by a king living in fear and his oppressive archmage advisor.

    Publisher: John Harrison
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fantasy: Epic
    Publisher's Summary:
Shadow Play is the spellbinding continuation of the story started in Shadow Dance. This second book of the Shadow Saga carries the adventure to a whole new level of danger and intrigue! The next steps of the prophecy are moving toward fruition and the world hangs in the balance. Dark forces reveal their plots as the forces of good struggle to uncover them.
At each turn, those aligned with light are cut off from their own and lost in the chaos that surrounds them. With Ara's death, only his wife and the future heir to the throne are left to combat the growing darkness.
Within all of this, Namir and his friends find themselves consumed by enemies, burdened by woes and thrust into the fray against their will.
Namir must find the courage to face those who would stop him from fulfilling his fate. All the while, his best friend, Nurn, searches valiantly to find his missing brother.
    Members Reviews:
    Deep and engaging
Multiple crossing character story lines each building speed and excitement. I know all these characters now and can't wait to hear more about them.
Decent but full of spellibg errors
The second of John Harrison's Shadow series. Namir is filled with even more questions and doubt about who he is and what his heritage really means and he's not the only one as Aves also learns more about her mother. Halin is trapped in some deep cavern while his brother Nurn looks for him. Landolin is uncovering mysteries of his own as he investigates Hornshire. The story line is good.
The most irritating thing about this book is the number of spell errors or missing entire words altogether. A few here and there are expected however there are 1or 2 every couple pages. Though it happened once the use of "fast forward" in a fantasy genre with no technology in the world is also annoying.
If the errors are edited it would be a decent book.
A book full of mystery, secrets and tension
Shadow Play is the second book of the Shadow Series, and it tells of the secrets that are coming to light and their implications to regain order and peace and for the fight against evil. This book is even more packed with suspense, mystery and tension than it's predecessor, but at the same time the development of the events follows it's thread. The characters are Will described as are the places where the events taker place. It has been a very enjoyable read.
Regarding the author, I have to say that he has great imagination and an amazing way to develop the story.
    The wait is over.
First thing first, you must read Shadow Dance before you continue on to Shadow Play, with that being said this book picks up right where the previous one had left off; in Shadow Play we continue to follow Namir on his journey to discover who he really is and his place in the world. While also going along his all his other friends as they all find themselves being pulled in different directions than that they had all originally planned on.

Definitely something worth checking out, a unique story line that'll keep your eyes glued to the book with characters that you can't help but love. All in all 10 out of 10.

Heir to the Sundered Crown is an enjoyable fantasy read. Strong character development and excellent dialogue give the reader a sense of being in the story. Author Matthew Olney has given us a fantasy story that plays on familiar themes, but gives us the feeling that there is something new happening here. Mr. Olney has set us up nicely for the rest of the series, and I look forward to it. Well done.
    Good read
Just what I was expecting. Good characters. Good plot. Moves fast and logically.
Can't wait to see where this goes
    Heir to the Sundered Crown

    ok
    Quite ok holiday read.
It is hard to write fantasy without it becoming a quest token raid. This book works hard at that.

Well written conclusion to an adventure with sorcery and dragon. The heroine is likable and spunky.
Lot of interesting characters show up. However the story is incomplete and needs one more book to
the up all the loose ends.
    Last book?
Good read but ending leaves door open for a sequel.
    Wonderful
A great follow-up to the three previous books. I look forward to another. I'm ready to reread the previously published books in this series. I enjoy this author tremendously. Not too much action, which gets boring after a time, romance, mystery, intrigue and great writing. Only a couple word omissions were seen. Can't wait for more books by this author.
