    Truly A Classic Dragon Tale
I loved this wonderful story. Rarely will we find a story worthy to be a Classic tale, this is one that will become one. The narration by Fred Kennedy is outstanding in bringing this to life.
There are so many lines of great script in here about life and the struggles we all go through. Brian has written a story that I'm pleased to share not only with my Grandchildren but my children as well.
I haven't gotten so enraptured by a story like this in a long, long time. Be prepared to get lifted out of the standard fantasy dragon fare and be transformed to pure enjoyment of beautifully crafted words.
    Thank you Brian!!!
    Steampunk Fantasy
This book was very enjoyable. I have only read one other book by Brian Rathbone, so I am not an expert on his work. I will say that this had a different feel to it and I truly enjoyed it. I hope there is a second installment at some point in the future.
    Must read
Love this book! Fantastic story, compelling characters. You won't be able to put it down!!
The Skies of Midland are Full!
Would you consider the audio edition of Dragon Airways to be better than the print version?
I think I am old fashioned in the sense I like to create my own imagery as I read.
What other book might you compare Dragon Airways to and why?
The first of Mr. Rathbone's Godsland series, Call of the Herald, I would think calls upon the same sweeping variety of characters, their believability, and vivid spectacles of dragonkind are brought back to bear in Dragon Airways.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Fred Kennedy?
    Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp?
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
    Magic Sniffer Saves the Midlands!
    Any additional comments?
The story of this book is exceptional. A sister and her little brother who no one understands and outcasts become heroes in sticking with their hearts' guidance and overcome all obstacles put before them. The development of the characters is once again a "magical" performance by Mr. Rathbone.
    Wonderful entertaining story!
What made the experience of listening to Dragon Airways the most enjoyable?
The well developed plot line and the cast of characters left me impatient to hear what was coming next.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dragon Airways?
I have loved every book in this series and feel like I am meeting new friends each time a new book about Godsland comes out. When Riette, Emmet's sister realized that her brother was magical and that he was very special and not to be ridiculed was very memorable.
Which character as performed by Fred Kennedy was your favorite?
My favorite character was Emmet and the relationship he had with his sister,Riette, Dashiq the dragon and magic.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I loved when Emmet hugged the stripped saltbark trees and channeled his life force back into them so that they would survive.

There's a 5 star story in the 2nd half of the book
The 2nd half of the book is excellent even with the small hiccup near the end. It's the 2nd half where the characters become three dimensional with relatable motives and complex dilemmas, the story becomes fantastical and the route to the end is unpredictable.
All this would usually make it a must read book, but the start is so jarring and the characters start off as generic cut out of the wizard, warrior and princess that's it's hard to recommend this. There is a point to the first half but that feels more to get the characters to a set place to set up the excellent 2nd half. It must be said the first half isn't bad, it's good but not excellent it's very by the numbers.

Another home run from Skorkowsky and Bray!
The combination of Seth Skorkowsky's outstanding writing and Bob Bray's great narration is enough to sell me any book. This collection of Tales of the Black Raven is a Sequel to Mountain of Daggers, another really excellent book. The Black Raven reminds me a lot of Shadowspawn from the Thieves World anthologies. A thief willing to kill when necessary, confident in their abilities, with legendary reputations. The stories in this book take place all over, and deal with some old characters, as well as some new ones I hope to see again. The action is fast paced, with solid plotting and worldbuilding that is excellent, really letting you get a feel of the envitonment. The characters are all well done, especially The Black Raven, Arhen. Whether on sea or on land, there is no situation Arhen can't eventually work his way around. Any fans of tales involving a charming rougue, such as the aformentioned Shawdowspawn stories, shold really enjoy this. Bob Bray's Narration is spot on as always, really bringing the characters to lives of their own.
    Great stuff!
I am enjoying everything about this series. Terrific story and a flawed, but lovable main character. Seth Skorkowsky just keeps giving us what we are looking for in these books. Loved it!
Another great anthology following the ever elusive Black Raven!
Seth Skorkowski has, yet again, given us a great anthology following the adventures is the Black Raven. I particularly like how Ahren always finds a way to use his environment and the items at hand to finish his jobs and vanquish his enemies. His cleverness is his real skill I think, and I hope we see a full length novel in the future!

Avengers and Watchmen meet The Walking Dead and Pulp Fiction. This is a spandex adventure for adults.
    Superheroes. Undead. 'Nuff said.
The country's premier superhero team is missing. So when a mutant monstrosity goes on the rampage, it's Spitball to the rescue! He's a third-string hero today, determined to be first-string tomorrow. And the army may be giving him just the chance he needs. Spitball's been invited to undertake a secret mission into America's heartland. What he's about to discover, however, is not a chance at stardom but a horror movie come to life....
Hungry Gods is a fast-paced adventure of costumed superheroes, government conspiracy theories, and flesh-eating zombies.
    Members Reviews:
The premise was actually pretty interesting
Hungry Gods by J.D. Brink is the first in a series called Identity Crisis. The story follows the antics of a teenaged super hero who just wants to make it big. In a world of caped and masked superheroes who are called by the government to solve problems created by real life monsters and villain, Spitball is a low level superhero. All he dreams about is using his super-speed powers to launch him into a life of fame and to secure his spot in the Phenomenal Five, the most famous team of superheroes. After fighting off a monster that was terrorizing his town, this little bit of fame leads to a military official to request his services. Little did Spitball know, he was entering a fight that might be too big for his skills. As the story unravels, Spitball is faced with a series of terrors, intrigue, and conflicts between his expectations and realities about what being a superhero is.
This novel improved for me after I accepted the costumed superheroes functioning as a part of the real life plotline. It was bewildering and frustrating in the beginning, but once accepted the plot developed nicely. The premise for the story where a naïve fame-hungry young superhero enters a fight too big for him was actually pretty interesting. It created room for Spitball to learn about the reality of being a superhero and learn from it. Unfortunately, I really felt like he hadnt learned anything from the experience and was still like an overzealous puppy at the end. I found this extremely disappointing because Spitballs naiveté was difficult to hear. I did however, like phenomenal five characters that Spitball is able to meet and the background on the relationship between those characters. The superheroes vs. zombies-like premise in itself was unique. This is mostly an action filled story about superheroes fighting off an unknown threat to the public. Ultimately, while I didnt like Spitballs character, there was a lot of plot development, action, and a hint of whats to come in the future novels.
The narration by Todd Menesses was well done. He captured the voices of the different characters really well. He was able to capture the feelings and the situation that the characters were throughout the novel. He also hit Spitballs voice straight on. It was great. The production quality was good. I would recommend this story to anyone who likes superhero, action stories.

No Boring Life for a Dragoneer
In my opinion these three books are much better written and laid out than the first three in the series. It makes listening to or reading the first three more than worth it to get the background information. The narrator, Christine Padovan, has also improved with the voices and pronunciations.
M.R. Mathias has done a nice job including enough background information to jog the memory or give riders who started with book 4 enough to understand the basic premise. He also does a good job at getting your heartbeat racing during the battle scenes and cringing whenever the characters venture into caves.
The main theme for the good guys include friendship and loyalty while the theme for the evil dudes is to cause chaos. Making for an entertaining story with lots of action.
The first book, Emerald Rider, deals with Jenka's quest to rescue Clover (Crimzon's rider) and King Richard causing havoc with a new clan of witches.
The second book, Rise of the Dragon King, takes place in two kingdoms. One in which former King Richard is let loose and the their subsequent war on the Dragoneer lands.
The third book, Blood and Royalty, is my favorite. Jenka & Zah's powerful daughter with the help of Clover and Crimzon have an oops moment which is actually worse than the exploits of former King Richard.

    Not Bad, But Has Problems
To me, this book had some good, some bad.
The characters are quirky and interesting, but several significant characters never got quite beyond being cartoonish for me. Perhaps the intention of the author was to have this have the feel of a comic book? It didn't really work for me.
I found the narration grating. To me, it was oddly written in the present tense. I kinda got used to it by the end, but it never flowed for me. I would suggest doing the "look inside" or free sample thing to try this book out before buying it.
The plot and setting development were interesting and fun. However, I found they were also pretty inconsistent. It almost felt like a rough draft, but there are hardly any typos, so the author made sure the details were taken care of but somehow, the big picture remained inconsistent.
At first, I was really surprised this book is going to be made into a movie. However, on further reflection, it does read somewhat like a screenplay, and maybe, with a little editing, it could be a decent movie.
Whew, rare is it I read a book and say out loud "Wow, glad *that* is over with."
Whew, rare is it I read a book and say out loud "Wow, glad *that* is over with."
Yes there were some good ideas, but I agree with another reviewer, maybe as a rough draft? This felt like it *wanted* to go some where but...Just didn't feel it. Some of the descriptions of scenes felt like verbal up-chuck, just over kill.

I've won this audio from the author! I've never listen to one before so I tried. I feel like the story was too rush and it takes less than a week for HEA. The story line isn't bad but the narrator was not great! She's trying to make a Scottish accent but fail so badly that I couldn't really enjoyed the story itself. Maybe I should stick to reading but I did won couple more audio so I'll give it a try again and hopefully it's better. All in all it wasn't that bad if I can deflect the Hero's voice! I want to thank the author for picking me to win this audio. Thank you!

    Very Entertaining Story, Great Performance
I really enjoyed this book and I was surprised by the supernatural element to it. I don't generally pay much attention to the genre of a book before I listen to it, so i didn't realize this was a book about supernatural people. What I really enjoyed about the story was the slow start. It was enough to keep you interested early on, but it only hints at the supernatural abilities of the character.
As the story progresses the author builds the characters very well. I was constantly engaged in the story and even thought about it when I wasn't listening to it, to me that is always the sign of a captivating story. The love story that develops is not over the top and the relationships with the other characters feel real. I don't want to give up too much, but there are tragedies that occur throughout the story that will surprise you.
The performance was top notch, a female reader sometimes has difficulties doing male voices (and vice versa) but I liked that the reader did not try too hard to go for the deep voice on male characters. Her inflections were very good and I never felt annoyed by her intonations as I do with some performers.
Overall the book is a solid 4-4.5 and the performance was a 5 for me. At some point I will get into the other two books as I am excited to find out what happens to the main character.
One more thing I liked was the subtle use of religion i.e.. did the characters powers come from God, but you didn't get the feeling that the book had a religious lean, only that the natural thoughts of a normal person who finds she has these supernatural powers would be that they either came from God or the Devil.

Fire Starter - Gift or Curse
Angel Fire begins with Darcy Anderson being released from prison and putted on parole. After serving her ten years sentence for manslaughter of burning both her parents, Darcy returned to her small town, Middleton. Darcy wanted to put the past behind her except her ex-husband and the Sheriff refused to allow her.
The town of Middleton remembered Darcy for setting the house on fire while her parent was in the house. The thing is Darcy knew that she didn't set the house on fire by common means and she knew that the fire started when she became upset. Even the evidences do not support how the fire is started except that it pointed to something supernatural and unorthodox.
