Amazing story! It kept me wanting more, I can't wait to read the next book.
Great book! Not such a great narrator...
The book is a well written and makes for a fun listen, but the narrator is an older man that stutters and stammers. The subject matter and the narration don't really match very well because it's all younger characters and action oriented but the narrator portrays the book like a feeble old confused man is telling a story to his grandkids.
    story was pretty good
but.... the narration was completely abhorrent! I'm digusted at how bad this story was narrated. grovelly and single toned, the narrator dropped between imperceptible whispers and ear splitting shouts! don't get the audiobook; if you want to read this, then get a copy to read yourself.

    Publisher's Summary:
Logan Braxton faces impossible odds as he attempts a coup against the powerful Alpha of the Texas Pack - his brother, Richard. Ruled by terror and violence, the pack is crumbling and none are powerful enough to challenge the alpha. Logan will risk his life, his honor, and his place in Lycan society to save those dearest to him.
Rage is a prequel to Lost Library, the first full-length novel in the series. Rage can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.
Set within Kate Baray's Lost Library world circa 1979, Rage delves into John and Logan's turbulent history before they restructured the Texas Pack. For listeners of the Lost Library series, this is a small slice of the past that created characters you've met in the series. For new listeners, it's a short introduction to the Lost Library world.

    Chosing the Lesser Evil
Rage is the prelude to John Braxton's past. With his parents dead and to protect his nephew Logan, John did the unthinkable to save the Texas pack. His brother, Richard is destroying the Texas pack but none is strong enough to challenge him.
John, once believed in his brother, Richard. But somewhere down the road, Richard has changed for the worst. Richard has become an abusive, mean drunk of a leader. The only solution was for John to kill Richard. John also recognized the ramification that if he failed, he is signing his own death warrant. Richard would killed him.
I have bought this book and have read the story before listening to the audiobook which was provided to me by the author. I have to say that the narration of the story is better than reading the book. It is because the narrator gave life to the story.
I love the narrator, Roberto Scarlato in how John is portrayed. As much as John loved his brother, Richard, John cannot forgive Richard for beating Logan. The narrator showed how decisive that John is and the sacrifice of saving one person, he has to kill another. The narrator does an excellent job of narrating this short story. I enjoy listening to this story again and again of how precise the story is told.
I was given this this audiobook by the author in exchange of an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.

    Enjoyable
Less about the sword play, and more about the relationship of two siblings. Swords and Scoundrels is a surprisingly good character drama (which I did not expect). My only criticism would be that there were far too many Britishisms in the dialogue. Besides that, I recommend it to readers who want a light, quick fantasy read.
World was full of depth, Characters lacked depth
    Any additional comments?
The world and plot were very creative and obviously quite well thought out. Although at the same time most of the characters in the book lacked any kind of depth or intelligence.

    Incredible.
Joe Jameson is very talented and mirrored this awesome story so brilliantly. They are as good a match as Abercrombie and Pacey!
I enjoyed this book better than the first .
Well done Joe Jameson for doing so well in bringing the charactors to life .
    there had to be flashbacks
not bad but I really disliked the flashbacks. I know they're really that important to the story and to understanding some characters.
Anyway everything else was quite good and was upset when some characters died which showed how much into this book I was.
a nice story to which I'm looking forward to seeing how this all ends in the next book.
    Awesome, better than grim company
amazing audio book, I read the first part but listened to this second installment and was truly entertained and thoroughly enjoyed it
    Great sequel
Read the first one, thought I'd give this one a shot on audible. Joe does a great job, personified each character brilliantly. Luke continues to evoke memories of Gemmell in his writing. Sometimes brutal, sometimes touching.
Looking forward to the next installment

    Publisher's Summary:
Captain Hook has been captured by the British navy and is soon to be hung.
As Hook tells his life story to his captor, it becomes clear that the fearsome pirate was once a scholarly boy - until one fateful night in Port Royal when he meets the volatile Peter Pan...
Raise the Jolly Roger and discover the book that opened thousands of eyes to the possibility that, once upon a time, Captain Hook was not the villain we know him to be.
Since its publication in June of 2012, this original story takes you through Captain James Hook's rise to piracy, including his first confrontation with Long John Silver and his service on the Queen Anne's Revenge alongside Blackbeard at the Charleston Blockade.
This book is not a retelling of the events of J. M. Barrie's beloved novel. It's a defense of the world's most famous pirate, told by the man himself.
Captain Hook has reason and wit behind his hatred for Peter Pan...If only someone would listen.
    Members Reviews:
    HOOKED from the start
I will never think of Peter Pan and Captain Hook the same way again. This is an engrossing and well written background story. The characters were believable and even though this is only a 5 hour book, in those hours you really got to know the characters. I enjoyed that the story opened with Hook as a boy, a boy who clung onto the characters from his childhood while growing up in the company of pirates. His realization at the end about the events which lead to his father's demise brought the story full circle, leaving me completely cheering for Captain Hook.
The narration by David Stifel was brilliant. The true voice of a storyteller, and one of the best male narrations I've listened to in recent years. The narrations that truly grip me are those where I forget there is a narrator and get "lost" listening to the character. This was that type of narration. David Stifel's Hook is dignified, loyal, and intelligent.
As a parent I can also say this is an appropriate book for kids probably ages 9+. Although there are scenes of sword fighting and death, none is described in graphic detail. I think kids, particularly those who like pirate stories, would really enjoy it. The narration is articulate and would be easy for kids to understand. I have already recommended this audiobook to friends.
I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
    a masterful narration
Captain James Hook and the Curse of Peter Pan is enticing from the first word. The description of Hook leads the reader into the book; His eyes are so narrow that they never seem to blink and he smiles with everything but his eyes. The authors create a fascinating character, dangerous but hypnotic. The first chapter sets the tone so well, not only of Hooks character but all the great winks towards the Captain Hook you grew up with, like his pocket watch that ticks very loudly.
As the story progresses, more and more familiar characters from Peter Pan enter and begin to play their part. The genius of the authors is that no one plays the part you expect. Is Hook the villain? Is Pan the hero? Side characters like Smee are also not as one would assume. The characters of this book incorporate more shades of grey and live in a morally ambiguous world. It would be difficult to discuss the plot without giving anything away.

    Members Reviews:
    great story, bad narrator
this story is very interesting and Arenson is great at providing vivid details (which is very important in books about dragons) The only real flaw in the book is the choice of a narrator. Arenson chose McSorley for one reason or another (prob cheapest), but McSorley is a horrible fit for a book as mature as this. McSorley makes you feel like a little kid when he reads and would be much better suited to read children books. If you want a great story this is the one, but be warned the narrator is awful, and you might want to save some money and just buy the text version.

    So-So
As a avid fantasy reader, I really enjoyed this book. But overall the majority of the characters reactions to events and other characters actions is next to idiotic and childish. No one who can wield that much power would be such a chump. Other than that it was good.
    Disappointing
    Any additional comments?
This is the first review I have written for a book on Amazon/Audible. I am an avid reader; probably reading and listening to between 300-400 books a year. As such I can be pretty forgiving when it comes to relatively small errors/weak issues if the story is good. I also feel very strongly that if someone went through the effort to write a book and you didn't like it than leave well enough alone.
That said I felt that I needed to put my opinion out there to give others a data point when choosing to read/not read this book. I was very disappointed. The first book in the series was interesting and entertaining (all you can reasonably ask of a book in the fantasy genre), the main character(s) mostly fumbled their way to winning and came up with a last ditch desperate effort that won the day. That is fine, Ronan was thrown into a tough position before he was prepared or ready and managed to do alright for himself. This book however, finds the main characters in positions of great responsibility where they are supposed to be leaders and in Ronan's case the King, yet we see them running all over the place doing things that a proper leader would send subordinates to do and disregarding all the people they have a duty to lead. Every desperate situation Ronan, Danielle, and the other characters find themselves in are a result of poor decision making and a complete disregard for planning ahead, and ignoring important issues.
One example of this is the inability of Ronan and Danielle to give the power from the Spheres to others. That tidbit of information is thrown into the story after our protagonists are already out and about exploring and jumping into situations without looking. What are the two people who have control of the Spheres doing running around throwing themselves into danger when they are the only people able to give the power of the Spheres to others?
All in all I was disappointed in this book and would not recommend it to others. The trait of the main characters to "wing-it" and never have a plan for any situation are forgivable for individuals, however when the character (Ronan) is the King of a country and the consequences of failure are catastrophic it is unforgivable.

    Members Reviews:
    Interesting story concept
I like the concept of this book - love the idea of strong female characters as leads in a story. Sadly, I am left with a feeling of "meh." The prose contained some eloquent phrasing sprinkled in with contrived and banal passages. The characters were not believable, no matter how much I wanted them to be. I did not care for the narrator (one of the authors) either - maybe a different narrator would have made a difference? Maybe this book was intended for a teen audience? I can only sum this experience up as a "hot mess." For now, I won't be buying the other books in the series. I may try again though, because I really like the concept (just poor execution, in my opinion).
    Far Warning
What disappointed you about Sword Sisters?
The 2 writers really need a good editor to catch all the errors, this is more like a rough draft. I loved the concept of the book but it fell flat.
The lead character has a miner case of haphephobia (dislike of being touched by people) unless she is horny then it all ok. She is a reaper (half human, half demon) with the stated age of 16 reaper years old and 96 in human years and looks like a 16 year old, in chapter 1 she has a flash back to when she was 12 (guessing in reaper years) and a human teen boy of 16 years saves her, this is a main part of the character it shapes her not only in this book but looks like in latter books. So now she in looking for a 20 year old man... wait she was 12 and ages 1 year every 6 years so if he saved her 4 years ago she should be about 13 not 16 or he is 40 not 20. and this is just looking at the lead character defining characteristics.
I will not be getting the next book. and far warning if you get the audiobook like i did the narrator is Tara Cardinal she did a good job until she sang she is so high pitched you cant understand her.
