    Publisher's Summary:
I can never remember the details after I wake up, but I've had the same nightmare too many times throughout the years, more than I can count. Recently I asked my brothers and sisters if they ever dream about the old house. Some tell me they do--of a room that wasn't there. That settles it. I'm turning this story over to my twelve-year-old incorrigible self. Only a scrawny kid skidding awkwardly toward puberty can explain how it feels to be haunted by the sins of his father, hunted by the town bullies, and taunted by a cantankerous ghost.

    great story line
Didn't capture me like the last one but I felt related to the story somehow. Can't wait for the next one!
    Absolutely LOVED this book!!
Absolutely LOVED this!! I swear I could've read at least 5 more years worth & was saddened the book ended
It's 1972 & the Marshall family moves to a huge home in Jonesville. It's told through the POV of Jake Marshall who is 12 years old. He has 3 other brothers,& 3 sisters
It's a work of fiction but based on a real family, a real town & maybe the ghost of "cousin Harold"
The main book is all about this curious, highly imaginative & sometimes brave, sometimes cowardly 12 year old boy who is bullied by the older boys.
The stories are about a year long stay in this house after his parents divorce. It's the biggest house they ever lived in, & also maybe the only haunted house too
I can't do the stories justice like the author, but I could've kept reading & reading. She's either a highly entertaining storyteller, or maybe, just maybe, she was part of this story?
The ending was very unexpected in some ways with confession of the father but it explained the reason for the divorce of his parents
The subsequent ending has all the children, except the youngest, going back 30 years later to revisit cousin Harold's house & remembering the fun they had, & the scares they had. Or was it all just overactive, imaginative minds at work in their past & present yet?
I'll say it again.... I LOVED this book!! :) & I highly recommend it!
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway & sure glad I did!! Thanks to the author & publisher

I loved this book about a single mother handling life with her kids, and the strange happenings in the house they rent. For a real treat, listen to it on Audible. That's what I did when I was driving back from Montana in a record-breaking rainstorm. I as so intrigued, I forgot to be afraid of the drive and was really disappointed when the book was over and I still had four hours to drive. This is a great read. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Harold's House. You'll be glad you did.

    Great read
Entertaining read with a great story. Realistic descriptions almost make the magic seem possible.... Can't wait for the next book.
    Five Stars
Cedric is an amazing person with great talent. Great book.
    Some good parts
Super natural mixed with a mystery thriller. While John Connelly's Charlie Parker series does this mix really well I felt that this one pushed the envelope a little to far and made it hard to be believable. I found the book entertaining but there was just something missing. I'm not even sure what it was, maybe credibility of the characters, maybe something else but there was something I kept hoping for that never made it.
Inspector Svarta's character is strong yet broken. She is haunted by her past and maybe thats where the breakdown was, I just can't see any police department hiring someone as broken as she is. Thats where John Connelly has it down, Charlie was kicked off the force.
I found the story line and the references to Elizabeth Bathory and her bloody obsession with youth very interesting. I loved the historical aspect to this book and liked the way the old was intertwined with the new. So there were aspects of this book I liked I just felt the characters were too broken and outside the realm of reality.
    Of Fever and Blood
OF FEVER AND BLOOD gives us an excellent supernatural horror story. If you like Stephen King you should enjoy this one. The author has managed to immerse the reader within the pages alongside his characters to the point you can't put the story down.
In the opening of the book we are introduced to a murder scene in which the Inspector has traced the killers to a farm. This opening is introduced to us through the victims eyes and while reading scenes within this story the reader can feel his pulse rate increase alongside the characters. The main characters are introduced slowly and it is only near the end that we learn why Inspector Svarta is who she is. Her past is almost as interesting as the mystery itself. We can also learn a little history, ie THE BLOOD COUNTESS while seeing some of the more familiar horror images, ie wolves, ghosts.
In my opinion, there are some very graphic violent images presented in the story. But if you like a good thriller, don't pass this story by.

    Publisher's Summary:
The year is 2018. The United States has finally emerged from the previous decade's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the economic recession that threatened to tear the country apart. Eighteen months into his first term, President Tom Knowles sees a chance to put his stamp on world affairs when 32 American aid workers are massacred in Uganda by a group of rebel partisans. Knowles decides to send in troops into an area that China considers its African sphere of influence. Privately, the message from the Chinese is keep out. Publicly, they can only stand by and watch.
Six weeks later, stock prices on Wall Street are plummeting. Rumors of insolvency haunt a major investment bank, which is leading the rout. When the bank refuses a government bailout, and it becomes known that the Chinese state-run People's Investment Corporation is its major shareholder, the stock-marker slide turns into a panic. Are United States stock prices being manipulated by the Chinese government? As the president's team takes drastic action to protect the US economy, the Chinese government strikes back to protect its interests, and the confrontation shifts rapidly from Wall Street to Africa, where American and Chinese forces stand eye to eye. Who will blink first?
An economic and geopolitical thriller from a writer described as the heir to Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton, Trigger Point moves from the Oval Office to Africa to Beijing and paints a terrifying portrait of where we may be headed.
    Critic Reviews:
"Glass' terrific geopolitical thriller packs as much gut-wrenching suspense as any thriller in recent memory.... Glass expertly assembles the interlocking pieces of his frighteningly prophetic puzzle. This chilling, important novel should be read by all those in charge of our country's politics and finances." (Publishers Weekly)
    Members Reviews:
    An all too frightening possibility
Amisdt the hundreds of geopolitical thriller novels that hit bookstore shelves every year, Trigger Point stands out for its thoroughly researched realism in the realms of geopolitical decision-making and the political impact of international finance. While other reviewers have correctly noted that it is somewhat lacking in the arena of direct action between both sides, they miss the point: the purpose of this novel is not to fantasize a high-tech shooting war between the US and China (Larry Bond's novels seem to be cornering that niche anyway). Instead, this novel imagines how the intricacies of modern international finance, combined with the simmering rivalry between a rising China and the US, could lead to serious miscommunications and poor calculations on both sides, with drastic consequences.
This novel begins with two disparate story threads that quickly become intertwined: that of a major hedge fund that raises the alarm over Chinese sovereign investments into US capital markets (with the ensuing potential for interference in the US economy in support of political goals), and a US mission in East Africa to capture LRA leader Joseph Kony. At this point, the reader should note that both of these scenarios are in fact ongoing. As the novel progresses alarmism over the potential for Chinese maniupulation of the economy escalates in lockstep with the mission creep on the ground in Africa.

    Publisher's Summary:
One fateful night. One unthinkable family tragedy. One survivor. This is Alison's story.
Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train and Apple Tree Yard, this stunning psychological thriller follows one woman's search for the truth about her family history. Alison is as close to anonymous as she can get: With no ties and a backroom job, hers is a life lived under the radar. But once Alison was someone else: Once she was Esme, a teenager whose bedroom sat at the top of a remote house on a bleak estuary. A girl whose family, if not happy exactly, was no unhappier than anyone else's - or so she thought.
Then one night violence was unleashed in the crooked house, in a nightmare that only Alison survived and from which she's been running ever since. Only when she falls for the charismatic Paul does Alison realise that to have any chance of happiness, she must return to her old life and face a closed community full of dark secrets.
As she seeks to uncover the truth of what happened that terrible night, Alison begins to question everything she thought she knew. Is there anyone she can trust?
    Critic Reviews:
"An utterly compulsive psychological thriller. I loved it." (SJ Watson, author of Before I Go to Sleep, on The Crooked House)
"Brilliant...A spooky, gripping and affecting story." (Louise Doughty, author of Apple Tree Yard, in the Guardian)
"Compulsive, unsettling and scary as hell." (Sunday Mirror)
"Echoes of Christie and du Maurier in this fine thriller." (Sunday Times)
"Demands to be devoured in one sitting." (Good Housekeeping)
    Members Reviews:
Best book Iv listened to this year
Fabulous story. Great characters, kept me guessing the whole way through - so credible. Loved every bit of this book! I'm now going to my next Christobel Kent book!
A place and people forgotten by the world
The best parts of the story are the descriptions of the bleak estuary environment. This is a place easily accessible from Liverpool Street Station but at the same time remote and inescapable by the local people who scratch out a meagre living. Outsiders are not always welcomed by a suspicious and closed in community, and it is therefore of little surprise that this was the scene of a horrific family massacre. This is the story is of Alison, the sole survivor who is trying to find out the truth about what happened when she was a child. This is further embellished by her peculiar relationship with her much older boyfriend and his sinister ex-girlfriend. This part is very like the Daphne Du Maurier book Rebecca, and is very enjoyable. Unfortunately the unravelling of the murder mystery does become confused and muddled, and I had to wind the book back several times to maintain my grip.
The slightly over the top ending does draw matters to a satisfying conclusion and so I am therefore more than happy to give this a four star rating. The author is clearly talented and I am interested in reading more from her.
    Overlong and confusing
I did enjoy this book in parts and stuck it out to the very end but to be honest it was a long and arduous journey and many times I didn't think I'd make it.
There are lots of characters in this book who play various parts in our heroines life. However, they are not well drawn and tend to meld into one another. The ending was not really a surprise and actually I'd lost interest by that point.
