As the murder suspects start to disappear Strong must discover just who the shadowy figure inciting fear and panic amongst those he encounters is.
Strong wants to bring a murderer to justice and Souter is hungry for a story. Who will get to the truth first and can their friendship remain intact?
Members Reviews:
Deep & interesting
This story had an interesting twist with Wearside Jack brought up and the main story of murder. The police were believable. Not over grumpy or ignorant like sometimes! Though as got deeper we saw another side to 1 hmmmm
Overall enjoyable tale & great narrator with local accents. Local to me anyways.
Very good story and characters
Where does Trophies rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
It isn't one of the best though I did enjoy the story and the characters were believable too.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Probably DI Strong, because he's the main character and relatable as a Yorkshireman.
What does Richard Taylor bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you had only read the book?
Definitely the accents but I would say that the narration doesn't even compare with other audiobooks I've read. It' honestly felt like he was just reading the book rather than acting it at times.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
SPOILER ALERT!! Towards the end, the thought that Bob Souter might've been shot by police.
Any additional comments?
I will listen to the whole series, I haven't been put off by the narration.
Great narration - thrilling detective novel
What made the experience of listening to Trophies the most enjoyable?
Richard Taylor has a distinct voice that is clear and easy to listen to. There are many characters in Trophies and Richard Taylor manages to vary his intonations and speed while giving each character his own voice. That is even more difficult because in this story the sound of a voice is extremely important as it is the focus of DI Strongs investigation. But that works out well and I loved hearing the Yorkshire accents. Whereas Richard Taylor did the mens voices excellently I was not always taken in with his version of the womens voices, like for instance Souters sister Jean. I like Richard Taylor taking breaks within the narration at the appropriate points, adding to the joy of listening to this audiobook. It is a great audiobook and entertaining story; Richard Taylor enhances the Yorkshire feel of it with his matching voices. All in all, I have found Richard Taylors voice easy to listen to and the recording of Trophies of an excellent quality.
