    I adore Keri Arthur's books!!
I really love this new series & im watching for book 3, there has to be one because too much was left undone & Ms Arthur is a author who never cheats her readers. Very intricate world building where all the creatures & planet are reeling in the aftermath of a war for dominance.
    Incredibly complex and rich world
    Any additional comments?
I dont even know how to begin, to write this review. This is such an incredibly complex and rich world that Arthur has created. It is bleak and harsh, yet with her main character Tiger, it begs the question what makes someone worthy of being valued and treated as an equal? And what doesnt? What makes one person better than the other? What makes one life have more value than the other?
Tiger, who is considered less because she is man made has been prophesized to be the one to free the kidnapped children. She has the skills the others dont. She is determined to complete the task if it kills her, because she has vowed to never let another child suffer if she can help it.
Old hatreds are questioned, some are brought back some are eliminated. The story gets so complex and at times a little confusing. At the same time, there is a ton of action and I couldnt help but keep listening. I cant wait to see what happens to Tiger next....Sara
Picks right up where "City of Lights" left off
If you could sum up Winter Halo in three words, what would they be?
    Epic sci-fi fantasy!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Winter Halo?
Tiger's time in Winter Halo was very memorable, though it's hard to pinpoint a specific moment.
What does Mia Barron bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
After listening to her performance of "City of LIght", she *is* Tiger for me. Her voice and delivery are perfect for this series.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The shift in Tiger and Jonas' relationship.
    Any additional comments?
While there were some moments that felt copied-and-asted from "City of Light", I enjoyed Winter Halo as much as I enjoyed its predecessor. Im very much looking forward to the next installment in the Outcast series. If you like a melding of genres, such as dystopian sci-fi, fantasy, romantic suspense, and paranormal elements, then Id recommend you give this one a go!

    Publisher's Summary:
The coup that won traitor General Corian the Scourwind throne has been overturned, but his ongoing rebellion has left the empire divided. Searching for a vanished supply shipment vital to her own mission of vengeance against Corian, former Cadrewoman turned pirate Mira Delsol makes a shocking discovery about the theft. As both Mira and Brennan follow similar clues to the fate of the stolen supplies, their trajectories converge. Now Mira will embark on a perilous attempt to infiltrate the heart of the enemy camp, while Brennan's path will also lead him across Alliance lines, and into a lethal confrontation with the Alliance air fleet. But will either of their efforts be enough to keep Corian from executing his plan to bring the empire to its knees once again?

star wars like battles with Luke and Lei heros
If you liked Star Wars you will like the the battles in this book. even has its own kind of light sabers. I liked the world building and its mythos with the mystery.
    Great story
Evan Currie's Scourwind Series is back for that second volume. The new Empress in on her throne, but the rogue General Corrian is still strong. Now they face off as each maneuvers to outdo the other. We also get the first clues as why the Caleb Barr was built in the first place. This is a fun series and I look forward to reading more books as they come out.
Arr, you'll be regretting this one, matey
I'm not sure how a promising first novel of a series could turn so wrong in book 2 but it did. The writing went from dynamic and interesting in book 1 to bland and somewhat boring in book 2. And one of the most interesting characters in book 1, Mira Delsol, went from a Cadre bent on vengeance to someone who appeared to be just going through pirate-y motions.
Even Deric McNish's narration turned almost non-listenable. It's almost like he decided to do the narration straight from reading the book on the first go, without preparation or any sense of professionally regulating his voice.
Evan Currie cranks it up a notch
In a setting that seems to take place on a Dyson Sphere, sometime in the far distant future, the entire series seems to take place on a walled off reservation for humans. In book one, there is a coup against the ruling family and one two of the children survive the attack. This book is how they react to the rebellion and hints at what might be the reason behind the rebellion.
This is a world unlike any other in science fiction, how would people survive on a place with little natural resources and leaves you wondering how they came there. Who made the world?
Great world building, tight action and technologies that make you think. Like his other series, Odyssey One, Evan takes it to the edge of what is possible and expands on it.

This is going to be a classic series
While each book got better I was and am appreciative of the way the full story unfolded in such an prepossessing manner, the authors narrative manner made for a simply irresistable tale....and one which I wish would continue for at least another dozen volumes in the manner of RiverWorld......
    next....
I consumed one after another until there was no more. I can't wait for more books in this series.

i dont usually like series, but this one captured me through all 4 books. appropriate ending.
    Love this series.
Great series, with probably my favorite ending to a book written in this book. I read or listen to this series at least every other month. You wont regret getting to know Ishmael Horatio Wong and the cast of characters around him!
I didnt want it to end
Ok. I was sceptical getting into the series as it was a new space saga format for me. after 6 books I cant get enough and they get better each time. Owner's Share is my personal favorite..........

    Title: Everfair
    Author: Nisi Shawl
    Narrator: Allyson Johnson
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 12 hrs and 47 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 10-11-16
    Publisher: Tantor Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 34 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Everfair is a wonderful neo-Victorian alternate history novel that explores the question of what might have come of Belgium's disastrous colonization of the Congo if the native populations had learned about steam technology a bit earlier.
Fabian Socialists from Great Britian join forces with African American missionaries to purchase land from the Belgian Congo's "owner", King Leopold II. This land, named Everfair, is set aside as a safe haven, an imaginary utopia for native populations of the Congo, as well as escaped slaves returning from America and other places where African natives were being mistreated.
Nisi Shawl's speculative masterpiece manages to turn one of the worst human rights disasters on record into a marvelous and exciting exploration of the possibilities inherent in a turn of history. Everfair is told from a multiplicity of voices: Africans, Europeans, East Asians, and African Americans in complex relationships with one another, in a compelling range of voices that have historically been silenced. Everfair is not only a beautiful book, but an educational and inspiring one that will give the listener new insight into an often ignored period of history.
    Critic Reviews:
"This highly original story blends steampunk and political intrigue in a compelling new view of a dark piece of human history." (Publishers Weekly)

    Praise for Nisi Shawl
Nisi, what an amazing journey we the listeners get to embark upon in this story! I'm so glad you wrote it and so glad I could listen to it. The narrator was superb! She was masterful slipping effortlessly from one accent to the next. I hope to hear her again.
Belgian Congo Steampunk for the Win!
I loved this book. Especially the cat-riding Fwendy. Well-rounded characters, a fascinating historical revision, a beautiful romance or three, lots of action and intrigue and prejudice and idealism, and the perspectives hop between the heads of an engaging, diverse cast. You won't regret buying this one.
    More character development, please.
The diversity of characters is refreshing. Different races, physical abilities and sexual identities are included effortlessly. However, the book spans so much time and touches on so much complex history that the story arcs of the characters were lacking and left me frustrated. Perhaps it would do well as a screenplay. Overall, I support the novel and author for presenting such a meaningful concept.
    Flat writing or reading?
There was something 'flat' about this book. Difficult to continue interest despite an interesting idea.

    Publisher's Summary:
They call it Company Town - a city-size oil rig off the coast of the Canadian Maritimes, now owned by one very wealthy, powerful, byzantine family: Lynch Ltd.
Hwa is of the few people in her community (which constitutes the whole rig) to forgo bioengineered enhancements. As such, she's the last truly organic person left on the rig - making her doubly an outsider as well as a neglected daughter and bodyguard extraordinaire. Still, her expertise in the arts of self-defense and her record as a fighter mean that her services are yet in high demand. When the youngest Lynch needs training and protection, the family turns to Hwa. But can even she protect against increasingly intense death threats seemingly coming from another timeline?
Meanwhile, a series of interconnected murders threatens the city's stability and heightens the unease of a rig turning over. All signs point to a nearly invisible serial killer, but all of the murders seem to lead right back to Hwa's front door. Company Town has never been the safest place to be - but now the danger is personal.
A brilliant, twisted mystery, as one woman must evaluate saving the people of a town that can't be saved or saving herself.
    Members Reviews:
    Different
I really liked it. It was fast paced and I felt like the characters had great development. My only complaint is that it wasn't twice as long! I wanted to delve more into the world of Company Town.
    Not for me
I liked machine dinasty alot and this is why i purchased this book. After 3 hours listening to it i concluded that it was time wasted and better cound start another book i would like more.
    Entertaining but details missing
I enjoyed this story, but I found the story seemed to jump details. Some things were not explained very well.
    A Dark Gritty book
Would you try another book from Madeline Ashby and/or Cecelia Kim?
Probably not from this author, definitely not from this narrator.
What could Madeline Ashby have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The ending felt like it belonged to an entirely different book, some clues that this was the direction things were heading, a bit of foreshadowing or a less outrageous ending would have worked better.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Cecelia Kim?
Khristine Hvam would have been perfect for this book.
What character would you cut from Company Town?
About half of them. There is an endless cast of characters who flow past with little more than names and brief descriptions, limiting the named characters and fleshing them out a bit more would have improved this book greatly.
    Any additional comments?
The scene setting was well done. The dark, gritty grungy vibe is well established but this book just tries to cover too much ground and falls well short of telling a compelling story.
    Thumbs up!
Strong female lead. Decent science fiction and bonus Newfoundland accents. Overall I liked it a lot.

    Very disappointed with this sequel
Very disappointed with this sequel. Too many characters and plots that took something away when compared to the first book, which was excellent. I had to force myself to finish it. It looks like Kal Spriggs is trying for a Game of Thrones kind of series, which is not suited to his style. If the next book is anything like the 1st book, it will be good. I gave this a 3 instead of a 1 star because of sentiment.
    Outstanding !!!!!
Excellent 2nd book in the series! Complex storyline, aliens, multiple aliens factions, multiple enemies, worse and worse, surprising allies, betrayals, politics on a galactic scale, outstanding space battles, new technologies, several out of left field wild cards...in short, highly entertaining. very good character development, minimal editing issues. Definitely worth the money and I look forward to the next book in the series.
the shadow space chronicles get even deeper
The Shattered Empire takes off from the story arc of The Fallen Race and adds a whole new level of complexity to it. Not only are there more players in the game, but the levels of intrigue become even deeper. The reader has clearly been dropped into a very rich world and after reading this book twice now, I can't help but ponder a dozen different possible outcomes to the side stories and overall plot of the series. Can't wait for the next book!
... would consider this a "bridge novel" as I felt like the author was setting things up for the rest ...
I would consider this a "bridge novel" as I felt like the author was setting things up for the rest of the series. If you have decided to follow this series (I have!) this fills in a lot of detail. Not that Mr. Spriggs hasn't thrown in a few surprises, he has thrown in quite a few and adds a lot of complexity to this universe. I found it a good read and I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
    Well written Sequal
Finally was able to finish the book last night. Âwell written and highly recommend it to all readers of the Sci-Fi world. Âcharacter development is very similar to David Weber but the action is much like John Ringo. ÂIf you are a Weber or Ringo fan then this is your book. ÂI particularly liked the action in the book but I will say the only thing I found difficult is the number of characters that you have to keep track of but once I thought about it he really needed a good caste of players to make the story flow the way he did.

    "The art is everything"
I've followed these characters from the Night Stalkers to the Time Patrol and I marvel at the intertwined tales they weave. Bob Mayer has done intensive research into history, myth and legend to create the stories in this series. I enjoy them!
As expected another great event for the Time Patrol.
Love the way he use real events in history and then offers how things could have been different if just one thing went wrong! Love The whole syfi feeling of the book but with some good real life points to keep it ground in an action type book with some deep thinking.
Just another great book by Mr Mayer. Can't wait for the next two books to come out in audible format!!!
    A must read series
Time patrol never ceases to entertain. I love that it appeases to both science fiction and non fiction fans. The historical figures and settings make it constantly refreshing, while the author does a great job of making the reader want more. The characters are people you care about, and by the end you'll want to read more.

    Very Creditworthy
I'm so glad the story here got back to the quality of the first books. I was terribly disappointed by the last book as it meandered through a non-story and left me wondering why even bother with this wimpy wrap up of The Lois and onto new ventures.
This book had a nice meaty story that was a good "read". Thumbs up.
    more please
I consumed one after another until there was no more. I can't wait for more books in this series. l had to listen to them all before I could make myself write the review.... spend the credit.
    No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Double Share picks up the story of Ishmael Wang as he leaves four years of officer training. With the ink scarcely dry on his certificate, he is signed on as third mate of the William Tinker. The Lois McKendrick was a nurturing home for those who sailed on her, but the Billy Tinker is an example of how a negligent captain and a bullying first mate can make a dangerous environment for the crew on board. I would recommend this book to anyone who is planning to take a position of responsibility anywhere.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Double Share?
Like many of the books by Nathan Lowell, the plot builds from the beginning. To mention the most memorable moment would involve spoilers. What I will say is that the most poignant moment is the one in which Ishmael and his friends aboard the Tinker realize there are some things beyond their control, but the climactic event pulls them together to correct the dangerous situation on board.
Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafers other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the third performance by Jeffrey Kafer to which I have listened. He just keeps getting better -- and he was good in the beginning.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, and some that made me feel angry and then relieved when they were resolved. You'll have to read to find out -- it truly would ruin the book to relate them here.
    Any additional comments?
Check out that ending. Lowell is truly building toward something here, as we learn more about Ishmael's character.
    Excellent Book
This book is well read and written.
I have listened to it as a podcast before.
Highly recommend it to people that like space
    adventures.
