Publisher's Summary:
The unthinkable has happened. Sigrid Novak, the most dangerous and wanted person in the history of the Federation of Corporate Enterprises, has been captured. For the women of New Alcyone - women just like her, genetically reengineered and trained since childhood to be the most effective killers in the galaxy - this is a staggering loss. For the Independents, the rebels who captured her, this is a boon beyond measure.
If they can figure out how to control her.
Now, six years have passed since the events of Bellatrix, and for six years Sigrid Novak has been gone, vanished, with no sign, no word, and no trace. But all has not been quiet within the Federation. The Council for Trade and Finance has been murdered, assassinated, and the death toll among the Federation's ruling elite continues to rise.
With every corporate enclave that falls, the legend grows. They call her the Night Witch. A champion to some, a nightmare for others. Wherever she goes, death is soon to follow.
Then, in an abandoned CTF research facility - and after so many years lost - a woman awakens. Her name is Sigrid Novak. And she is very, very angry.

    A fast-paced action-packed emotional rollercoaster
Where does Codename: Night Witch rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I liked Codename: Night Witch more than the audiobook version of Fahrenheit 451 that I borrowed from my local library.
What did you like best about this story?
The things that I liked best about the story were the new characters (Jaffer, Marta, and Colonel Bendari among others), and the great dialogue and action.
Which character as performed by Kristin James was your favorite?
My favorite character performed by Kristin James was Lady Hitomi.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The moment in the book that particularly moved me was near the end when Jaffer saved Sigrid's life. This moment said a lot about Jaffer; especially how brave he was.
    Any additional comments?
Kristin James did an excellent job reading the book, including the action, the dialogue (especially the accents of the different characters) and narrating the action scenes. It was easy to visualize what was happening in the book while listening to Kristin James's narration. I highly recommend this! Five stars.
    Good read
Fast paced, high energy strong characters. Just a great book as are the first two!! Can't wait for another!!!
    amazing
amazing amazing amazing can't wait for the next book wish it was a movie yay
    I Adore this Series!
You know those series that you just cant wait to read the next book because it starts to feel like a home away from home? The Girls from Alcyone is becoming one those to me, especially now that I actually have to wait for the next book.
Codename: Night Witch picks up a staggering 6 years after the end of The Machines of Bellatrix, with Sigrid waking up in an unfamiliar place with a HUGE gap in her memory. She then sets out to recover those memories and return to Suko and her sisters on New Alcyone, and along the way discovers just how much the galaxy has changed. The beginning is on the slower side as Sigrid works through where she is and a game plan to get home, but it doesnt linger there for too long. There is plenty of action, intensity, and mystery to keep you moving along and invested in Sigrids story.

    Publisher's Summary:
Science to build a starship. Wizardry to take it past light speed. A crew to give it a soul.
The Mobius is a cobbled-together ship with a matching crew. Captain Carl Ramsey is an ex-Earth Navy pilot whose crew won't let him fly his own ship. The pilot is his ex-wife, the mechanic is a drunk, and the chief of security is from a predatory species. Instead of a star-drive to travel through the astral space between worlds, the ship's wizard does it by hand.
    Mission 1: Salvage Trouble
A salvage mission turns into a rescue, and no good deed goes unpunished. With two refugees onboard, the Mobius crew is hounded by bounty hunters, border patrols, and corporate enforcers.
    Mission 2: A Smuggler's Conscience
"Don't open the package." It's the smuggler's credo for good reason. When the Mobius crew takes a peek at their illicit cargo, the entire job takes an about-face.
    Mission 3: Poets and Piracy
The Mobius crew gets caught in a turf war between a pirate fleet and a galactic criminal syndicate. The trick is getting everyone out alive (and maybe getting paid in the process).
Mission 4: To Err is Azrin
Sometimes, you can't go home again. When a job takes the crew to their security chief's homeworld, she gets dragged into a familial power struggle. Can the rest of the crew bail her out of an old feud gone horribly wrong?

    Television in Book Form
    Any additional comments?
A three star book, but one of those rare ones where it's not because it is mediocre, but because it's just a good, albeit forgettable book. "Formulaic and uninspired but well-crafted" is a good phrase for it.
Probably the best thing about it is that this is an omnibus of shorter stories. As such, no book/story outlives it's welcome. Each is much like a television episode, a self-contained story that you can choose to enjoy at your leisure or binge it.
The characters are a bit flat but overall fun. They are typical space fiction archetypes that are put in a new position in each "mission" and you get to watch them work out the problem of the week. The problems range from trying to outrun a much richer and more powerful enemy, to a bit of space pirate action, to learning one of the character's backstory.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes a lighter spaceship book (or show). It is an experience rather than some highbrow literature. I for one will continue the series.
    Pretty good
Yes, for those you remember the tv shows Fire Fly or Farscape then this book is for you. A large part was entertaining enough that I am buying the remainder in the series. The characters are flawed and the stories are just thrown together but that was the same with those tv shows.
    Love it!
Stop wasting your time reading this review and start reading or listening to the stories!
    Great series for a browncoat

I am surprised ea did not stop the release of this awesome book as it is like mass effect combined with Halo but it is differential a amazing book and looking forward to hearing the rest
very very good first start to a series
the story was excellent and moved along at a very good pace. the author got his point across and never bogged down with useless "Fluf". I can't wait to hear the next book...
    Solid Space Marine Fun
Chris fox did an amazing feat of writing, churning out this book in less than one month for all to see (on YouTube). I think he did a great job and I really enjoyed the book.
    Exciting Story
Fun, fast read with enough science to keep it interesting, but it couldn't be called hard scifi. Great characters, Nolan is a relatable guy, and I like the Tigris. In some ways they're like Klingons from Star Trek. Destroyer is action/adventure focused with some good battle scenes. Can't wait to download book 2.
    Another Home Run
What did you love best about Destroyer?
Hmm, I'm not sure. It's such an interesting and unique story...I really love the Tigris. They're so fierce and yet they purr...it's great!
Who was your favorite character and why?
It's really hard to pick just one...Fizgig, not a clue if that's spelled right, is great. I also love Annie, Captain Dryker, Sargent Hanan...
What about Ryan Kennard Burkes performance did you like?
I think he does a great job with less traditional story lines and I love when he does the recap the Chris Fox has at the beginning of his books...he really great at capturing the humor from the writer...
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Not a clue...I leave that to the boys and girls who make the big bucks...
    Any additional comments?
I'm NOT a SciFi fan, but I am REALLY enjoying this series...I definitely recommend it and anything else by this author and the narrator too.
    All I can say is...more please...ASAP!!

    Please bring back Jason Damron
I just feel like Jason Damron totally gets the different characters. He really brings the characters' personalities with different voices. Sadly Sean R does not. I love the book, but I would love the audiobook more if Jason D read it. Nothing against Sean, but it was all started with Jason, and now the later books of the series just isn't the same.
    Didn't like this Narrator
Don't care for this Narrator, I had a hard time paying attention to books 8 and 9. As for the story as a whole, I love it! love the emotions the ups and downs, the unexpected shocking events. I've got my older brother hooked on the slow burn also. Thank you Bobby Adair for this story... I was never much of a reader until I found Slow Burn I'm 33 yrs old and just finally found out what kinds of books peek my interest. Thank you
    Loved this book
This was the first series of books I have read in a long time. That was a great ending. It choked me up. I was so happy! . I read the whole book in one night. Well more liked listened to it. It is an amazing book series. More realistic to how an Apocalypse would happen. I hope your other stories are as amazing as this one. I think what really got me hooked on this one in the first place was the fact that it takes place in Austin tx. I live in San Antonio now but when I first moved to Texas from Louisiana I movies to Austin Texas and it is truely one of my mose favorite places to live. That is second to New Orleans Louisiana.
    loved it last book ??
this is a great book series loved every minute of it! the guys will be missed. I can't wait for his next release.
Another great read or listen rather.
Another one knocked out of the park by Mr Adair and another great performance by Mr. Runnette.

    Members Reviews:
For me, the best in the series
It amazes me how I can be entirely engrossed in each of the Foreigner series books even when nothing much (as viewed from the outside) actually happens. And when it does. Wow! This book had a major unexpected twist that turned the series on its head, and made it even more interesting. No spoilers here, but I loved it.
Cherryh's ability to get so deeply into the minds of the characters can sometimes be difficult to endure. But as someone with a busy mind I can only say that it's familiar to my own thought processes and I've gotten to know the workings of the characters well. And there's always something new to learn and surprises here and there. They aren't unpredictable, they're complex.
As always, Daniel Thomas May narrates the story perfectly. He delivers each character well, and considering he has 3 different species' words to deliver he does it superbly and that's quite an accomplishment.
Now I'm stuck waiting for the next in the series!
Good story, fresh twist, still loving the series!
What made the experience of listening to Visitor the most enjoyable?
I have loved this series since the beginning many years ago. Listening/reading the first novel Foreigner, from so long ago, it's now easier to pick out the "dated" references to technology no longer relevant. I love how the newer novels subtly update this. This installment also has a twist that has me still looking forward to the next book, even after all these years.
For those that said their downloads seemed to be missing parts of chapters, my download was complete and free from glitches. I purchased and downloaded 07Apr16. Mr. May's narration was as excellent as ever.
    Complex, richly imagined political novel
Visitor is the most recent novel in Cherryh's fascinating story of politics and cultural clash in interstellar space. By now, the reader is art home with a wide cast of characters, factions, communities of interest and personalities. Developments in Visitor are unexpected and compelling -- but don't start here. The back story is essential, the personalities of major and minor characters have been painstakingly developed over time, and the entire series is worthy of time, credits and attention. There is a good bit of intellectual speculation -- a virtue, in my view.
When is the next book? I can't wait. Great series.
When is the next book? I can't wait. Great series. A true fan and would love to live in it.
My favorite in the series so far
Foreigner is hands down one of my favorite science fiction series. So much subtlety, so much of a character journey across the course of the books. I wasn't sure how Cherryh would top the other books, but Visitor blew me away.

    Fast paced. Held my attention.
A pretty good story. More violent than I expected. Narration was a little flat but ok.
    Mediocre at Best
Would you try another book from Susan Kiernan-Lewis and/or Susan Kiernan-Lewis?
No! I hated the way it teased directly into the next story that I can't buy yet.
What didnt you like about Susan Kiernan-Lewiss performance?
Awful Irish accent and not a professional performer. Why not find a good Irish accent to read this?
    Any additional comments?
A little too far fetched and Fairy Tale-ish
Interesting premise and not without possibility
I imagine that many people will enjoy the book as I have.
As a vehicle for a story it's a good story line but ....Just too unbelievable that such unskilled and not that particularly interesting parents would be so lucky and be able to find such support and power in a foreign country. Taking themselves so seriously And totally lacking in humour. Even so -Yes I will read other books by her and trust as time goes by she will she'll find greater depth.
My Family and Other Animals is a better example of survival on unfamiliar ground.
I think the writer is trying to make a living rather than writing to the best of her ability which is perfectly understandable however I can't help feeling she is capable of much stronger stuff.

Suspense and mystery at its best....
Cosega Shift (The Cosega Sequence Book 3) by Author Brandt Legg
It is very easy to see why Brandt Legg is a best selling author! His books are well-written and suspenseful. Mystery, murder and mayhem are expertly combined to capture the attention of his reading audience. His cast of characters keeps the pace flowing in order to maintain the interest of those who enjoy this genre. I definitely am one of them.
In Book 3, the intrigue continues as the two main characters, Rip Gaines and Gale Asher, flee from sure death if they are captured by either the NSA or the Vatican. The FBI and CIA are also involved. Rip and Gale have no idea whom to trust and are at constant risk. The plot unfolds as they try to keep the Eysen safe and figure out its secret message. Mesmerized by its mere existence, Rip and Gale have several brushes with death as they return to various churches in New Mexico to glean as much information as possible about a defrocked priest named Clastier. With the help of Teresa, a direct descendant of Clastier, they make some sense of his beliefs. Booker, a major backer for Rip's archaeological digs, is also very interested in the Eysen. Can he be trusted? Only time will tell...

Up The "Down" Ladder: Simple Ideas to Overcome Depression
    "Intriguing, Awesome Adventure"
This third novel of this series is a thriller to recapture readers. Just who (or what) created Earth? The Cosega Theory implies humans had lived in some form of an advanced society significantly predating our current timelines. Now, the most powerful religion, government, and billionaire in the world were fighting over the possession of the Eysen globe. It is an 11 million year old computer system which is in the hands of Archaeologist Ripley Gaines. He is being hunted and time is running out. He must find the lost Clastier Papers which may be the key to just who were the Cosegans. A very creative, thrilling novel which I could not put down. Read the first and second novels in this series before reading this one. It's one heck of a story created by author Brandt Legg.
    Would make an amazing movie.
Would make an amazing movie.!!!!!! The detail, imagination and thought that went into this series is almost beyond comprehension.

    Couldn't finish
Rarely is there a apocalypse book that I simply can't finish/don't care to finish. This is one of them. May appeal to others - I am known to be picky.
    Who reads like this ???
The story isn't bad, but I have never listened to a book with such a stiff and bad narration. I barely made it through this
    Horrible.
Impossible to finish. The narrator is like zombie John Wayne on heroine. Boring. Annoying. Dont waste your cash.
Big family zombie book . Nice story
What i great zombie read it was at times hard to keep up with everyone but that got better. The story is solid the zombies are pretty cool different then the normal. Seems everything got thrown at this group of people trying to survive
Some times the Narrator some times had the voice to him like he was trying to sale me something
Overall Great zombie story would recommend
One of the worst books I've listen too
This book wasnt for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you like listening to technical manuals then maybe you find something in this book worth your time
How did the narrator detract from the book?
It felt to me like listening to a book 15 years ago when audio books were not so available and the narrators were not very good. Tone was flat, no difference when switching between characters and just not good enough.
    Any additional comments?

Men in Black meets Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum in the new urban fantasy novel starring seer Makenna Fraser and her fellow agents at Supernatural Protection & Investigation.
The agents of Supernatural Protection & Investigations (SPI) know that fighting evil is a full-time job, especially when a new designer drug - with mind-blowing side effects - hits the streets. It's called Brimstone. And after the first few hits, you'll see every supernatural beast sharing the sidewalk, train, or office with you. After that you'll start seeing the really scary stuff.
I'm Makenna Fraser, seer for the SPI. And the collateral damage caused by Brimstone is something I'd like to unsee: dead drug dealers missing their hearts - and souls. Because your local pusher doesn't stand a chance against the new cartel muscling its way into New York. And since the drug can be produced only with magic and molten brimstone fresh from hell, that means a rift to the underworld is open somewhere in the city. And when - not if - the cartel loses control of it, well...it's going to be hell on Earth.

Another fun adventure for Mac and Ian.
SPI Agents never catch a break. Action and adventure to keep you occupied, romance to make you swoon.
Another fun adventure for Mac and Ian. New Yorks drug dealers are being killed off while a new drug, created with Hells Brimstone, is flooding the city. Ian and Mac have to track down the killer and the maker of Brimstone before anyone else dies.
Rake is, of course, a suspect. But is he part of the plot, or is he just being set up? I love how Rake gets real in this story. We get to see beyond the playboy facade to the person underneath.
Again, Johanna Parker does a great job of narrating the story. She is such a good pick for these stories. I cant wait until the next one.
    Loved it
This has become one of my favorite series of books. I love the stories and characters. I'm looking forward to where Lisa Shearin takes us from here.
Fun, funny, with intrigue & suspense
This is a series that keeps getting better. Serious when the story requires it, and fun southern banter around every corner. Thoroughly enjoyable. If you enjoy Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series this is another series you'll enjoy--and vice versa!
    Great!
A good story for the third in the series. It is like a welcome visit from an old friend who always brings trouble with them. If you listened to the others you are familiar with the characters. Makenna does her country girl routine and out smarts everyone with her down home wit and sense of loyalty. She has a little love interest here with Rake. I hope Shearin develops that for them. I like that it is going slow. If it went fast it would not be in character with Makenna. It gives another dimension to Makenna. She is not always interacting just about the job. Plus Rake has great goblin skills that I would enjoy being part of the story.
Dragon lady is not featured as much but that is fine. Rake is a really good replacement. My personal problem is with Johanna Parker. She does a good southern voice with snap, crackly and pop of a Southerner. Since she did the True Blood series visually, Makenna looks like Sookie Stackhouse to me. It does not help that they are very similar characters.
