    Title: Libre
    Subtitle: A Silver Ships Novel
    Author: S. H. Jucha
    Narrator: Grover Gardner
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 10 hrs and 36 mins
    Language: English

    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
The saga of the Rêveur continues in this second novel in the Silver Ships series.
The surviving Méridiens have returned to Confederation space, aided by their recently discovered cousins, the New Terrans. They expect a celebration after their 71-year absence. Instead, they're shocked to find the silver ships have destroyed half the Confederation.
The Méridiens are fleeing in advance of the horde of alien ships. But Alex Racine and his crew didn't come this far to run away from humanity's enemy. They intend to hunt the silver ships. But, to succeed, they need help. Renée de Guirnon, the leader of the Rêveur's Méridiens, reveals a sordid secret of Méridien society: Citizens who defy their House, for any reason, are stripped of their rights, declared "Independents", and imprisoned on the planet Libre. But the Independents aren't everyone's pariahs, especially if you're Alex Racine and you're looking for allies against the silver ships. An entire colony of independent, free-thinking radicals offers just the sort of people Alex wants on his side, so an alliance is struck. Soon the enemy ships will swarm off the planet Bellamonde, and the race begins for Alex and the Librans. The planet must be evacuated and the military force readied before the silver ships attack. Alex knows a battle is coming, but will they have enough time to prepare?

    An entire book about logistics!
    Any additional comments?
Really only a worth a chapter or a short story not an entire book. Endless about the logistics of evacuating a planet. Some interesting elements but not enough to redeem this installment. Some characters are beginning to deteriorate in to cringe worthy stereotypes.
    Great 2nd book
Wow, what an ending! Great book, and I can't wait to listen to the 3rd book.
    A planet of free Meridiens
The Meridiens and New Terrans aboard the ship Reveur have arrived at the planet Libre. Alex Racine is now the Admiral in charge instead of the Captain of Reveur. Renee de Guirnon is the leader of the Meridiens aboard Reveur. She has defied the de Guirnon House and declared themselves the House of Alexander. They are joining forces with the Independents on the planet Libre. Those people who defied their House were exiled to Libre. Soon they will be in battle with the Silver Ships.
The book is well written. The characters are well developed and interesting. I am enjoying the ships AI, Julian, along with the newly added AIs to the story. There is lots of action along with the creation of a new culture and world building. I am looking forward to book three of the series.
The book is ten and a half hours long. Grover Gardner does an excellent job narrating the book. Gardner is an actor and award-winning audiobook narrator.
    The saga continues
Great second book. The action and adventure continues. You meet new players and the plot thickens. This is another fun book.
    House Alexander saves the day
Libre is S H Jucha 's 2nd Silver Ships installment. The bulk of the action takes place in and around the planet Libre, a Meridien colony world which happens to also include the majority of Meridien independents, individuals who don't want to belong to any specific house. While Alex regroups, replenishes and builds up his forces, he also collects intelligence on the silver ships.

Terribly outnumbered, Mason, Bowie, Leila, and three young cadets must call upon every bit of skill and courage to make one valiant last stand. Meanwhile, Tanner and Samantha embark on a far less noble mission. Not only must they kill President Pike, they must also dismantle his powerful empire. Great Ending
What made the experience of listening to Last Stand the most enjoyable?
The narrator is great and made the story real and very enjoyable. He is on my list of favorites now. The story was easy listening and is by far my favorite of the series.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Samantha was so precious and smart. Her relationship with Tanner was so much fun and very sweet. I believe it was the narrator that made Tanner loveable as much as the written word. Bowie the dog is probably my most favorite character because I love dogs and love stories that have a dog as part of the story.
What about John David Farrells performance did you like?
He did an excellent job. Will look for books narrated by him as I stated above.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
As it got towards the end I did. All the books were good but this was the best.
    Any additional comments?
This is my first book or series by Dr. Arthur D. Bradley. I though it was a great series and actually got a little sentimental about it ending. Although I say it's the end it could be a beginning of another series. I would read it. I recommend this book and will look for other books by this author.
    Captivating Storyline
While the storyline encompasses several different simultaneous plots, some of the situations are far fetched.
    great series
I'm loving this series! narrator is consistent with individual character voices throughout this series. plot twists are amazingly unexpected!
Best End of the world series by far
Would you consider the audio edition of Last Stand to be better than the print version?
Well I've never read the print version but I love listening to books with good narrators.
What other book might you compare Last Stand to and why?
Well the only other series that I have stuck with is the "Survivalist" series by A. American. Very good series with really good characters. EMP rather than an outbreak. But I absolutely love Tanner and Sam in this series. Tanner is awesome!!!
What about John David Farrells performance did you like?
I like his ability to give the characters real defining personality in his voice.

    Publisher's Summary:
Desperate to solve a global food shortage, ExoGen scientist Dr. Ella Masse oversees the creation and release of RC-714, a gene that unlocks millions of years of adaptation and evolution, allowing crops to use long dormant junk DNA to rapidly adapt to any environment. The world's food supply grows aggressively, occupying every inch of earth, no matter how inhospitable. World hunger is averted. Humanity flourishes. RC-714 is digested, absorbed and passed on.
The Change affects small, fast breeding mammals first. They multiply with the same aggressive speed as the ExoGen plants, but a new, insatiable hunger drives them to violence. War between species breaks out. And then RC-714 reaches humanity, along with every other large creature on the planet. Civilization implodes, as every living thing that consumed the ExoGen crops begins to adapt to a world full of predators, accessing genes dating back to the beginning of life itself.
Peter Crane and his son Jakob survive the Change, living in their family farmhouse and eating non-ExoGen food from a biodome, one of many provided by Ella Masse, who discovered the ramifications of her breakthrough too late. The pair ekes out a living in a world full of monsters, surviving until Ella shows up on their doorstep with her daughter, pursued by desperate predators and men alike.
As the farmhouse falls under attack, Crane learns that the end of humanity, of life on Earth, can still be averted: if Ella Crane and her daughter survive, and if they make it to the other side of the country without being captured...or consumed.

    Deadly rabbits!!!!
This was freaking ah-maz-ing!!!! I absolutely adored everything about this, I mean it has deadly rabbits in it!!! How can something like that not be all types of awesomeness. ;)
Well the summary pretty much says it all so I'm just going to get to my gushing about this wonderfully unique and scary book.
Right, character wise each of them were well written and developed. First we have Peter and his son Jakob, who are (as the summary says) "living in their family farmhouse and eating non-ExoGen food from a biodome, one of many provided by Ella Masse, who discovered the ramifications of her breakthrough too late. The pair ekes out a living in a world full of monsters, surviving until Ella shows up on their doorstep with her daughter, pursued by desperate predators and men alike." Both of these were strong capable characters. I liked Jakobs spirit and I liked how he knew his weaknesses too. He wasn't afraid to say that he knew he was slowing them down! It's a nice change from the gung ho type of character, that thinks he is invincible! Jakob knew his limits yet did everything he could to help.
Peter mean while, was more than capable. He was such a take charge, tough, smart and brave character, that it was hard not to like him. He had a relationship with Ella Masse but married someone else. He still mourns his wife but when Ella turns up, he can feel some of the old feelings still there. Being Ex-Military, he is definitely someone you want on your side, which is why Ella Masse turns up!
Speaking of Ella. Her team was the one that started all this. They created the GMO and pushed it into development without knowing the full scale of the side affects. She turns up at Peters door with her daughter and some unwelcome, deadly creatures chasing her.

The world has changed. The buildings have fallen, blown away with the winds. The roads crumble as the forest takes back the land we stole a long time ago. It's only been 10 years since the end, but it feels like a hundred for Emma, who has been alone since the beginning, surviving on the skills her crazy father forced on her.
Trust no one. Pull the trigger. Hide. Run. Stay away from the other survivors. Stay away from the Infected. She has obeyed her father's rules since she can remember running from the car accident that claimed his life. But one night that all changes. The knock at her cabin door and the voice of the girl on the other side don't make Emma help the girl. No - it's the fact that the girl, Anna, is willing to die to save her wounded brother that changes everything in Emma's world. Emma finds friends and family in Anna and her brother, Jake. She feels things that she thought she never would. But like her Granny always said, "Everything comes at a cost. You must decide what you are willing to pay." For Emma that decision comes as Anna is stolen and taken to the breeder farms. Emma knows that she will pay anything to get Anna back, including her own life.

    Simple writing. Didn't like narrator
This book would be better for the young adult listener. Compared to the Hunger Games and the Divergent series I was disappointed. Too predicable. I couldn't finish.
Finally a heroine I can respect
She's bad ass and demands respect. I can't stand girls who keep falling for guys for the wrong reasons. She doesn't give in to desires, she goes the hard way cuz she knows she's worth it and respects herself. And hilarious about the big guy with no survival skills, like so many guys I know. Cracks me up. I like the characters and how the storyline evolves naturally. I can relate.
    Really Enjoyed
Would you listen to Born again? Why?
I really enjoyed this book as it was not focused on the technical details of weapons, training and such, it was about the turmoil and emotional consequences of her father's influence and the life after he died. I loved how the main character was finally successful in dealing with her isolation and gaining the ability to include others in her life.
Great book as I love the focus on the emotional and mental turmoil one would feel.
    Horrible characters
If you like lots misogynistic quasi-date rape doe one of the books "good guys" then you may like this book. I suspect it was written by an MRA proponent as the main male protagonist keeps trying to date rape the main female protagonist in spite of her repeatedly tell him not to touch her. And the female protagonist keeps saying "don't touch me" but is revealed in her inner monologue to secretly like it when he touches her. Absolutely insufferable characters and a complete waste of time.
    Skip this one!!
    What disappointed you about Born?
The story was so silly and unbelievable.
Would you ever listen to anything by AE Watson again?
No. Her writing is too lacking logic and thought
How could the performance have been better?
The woman who read the book was pretty awful. She over enunciated many words and it was hard to concentrate on the book because of her poor performance.

Loved it, and I hope the story continues
Would you listen to Ascendance again? Why?
Maybe. It's definitely a favorite, but I know what happens now. I would probably reread it, just a couple years after finishing it
Who was your favorite character and why?
Dave. He's a dick, but an honest and entertaining dick
What does Mark Zeisler bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
More action that reading alone wouldn't provide
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
    no, but enjoyed it all
    Pt3 of a great tale
The series is addictive. Flawed hero. Current references. Great humor. Where's part 4? open-open-open... Hurry up!
still good but Dave doesnt learn
    Any additional comments?
the story is good and goes along with the other two. i like the series but find myself not liking dave as much. i know there are tons of guys out there that are very Dave, but how is this guy the hero and doing the right thing.
i can see his personality allowing him to continue being a good guy while having unlimited power. so it becomes unbelievable.
BUT THE STORY IS GOOD and the other characters make up for him.
A great addition to a great series!
I am a huge fan of this series. It is a completely different direction of urban fantasy than some of my other favorites, like Dresden and The Nightside books, but thats what I like so much. The main character, Dave Hooper, has more in common with Sandman Slim than Harry Dresden, while not quite crossing the line to anti-hero. In this book, the third in the series, the monsters/demons, are finally using the knowledge stolen from the scientist they captured earlier, who know how to strategically and tactically cripple the human defense. Lots of twist and turns, lots of reversals for the humans, although we are introduced to several more human champions, and find out how they are created. Well plotted, the story never seemed to drag, and I never felt any lulls. There is a lot of good character exploration, deepening the feeling you know the characters and their motivations. The story leaves you fulfilled, but wanting to read the next installment. Mark Zeisler's narration is excellent, differentiating the voices, never monotone, with a genuine snark in all the right places. I recommend this to any fan of Jim Butcher, Simon R. Green or Richard Kadrey.

First in a brand-new, thought-provoking space opera series.
The lines. No ship can traverse the void without them. Only linesmen can work with them. But only Ean Lambert hears their song. And everyone thinks he's crazy.... Most slum kids never go far, certainly not becoming a level 10 linesman like Ean. Even if he's part of a small and unethical cartel, and the other linesmen disdain his self-taught methods, he's certified and working. Then a mysterious alien ship is discovered at the edges of the galaxy. Each of the major galactic powers is desperate to be the first to uncover the ship's secrets, but all they've learned is that it has the familiar lines of energy and a defense system that, once triggered, annihilates everything in a 200 kilometer radius. The vessel threatens any linesman who dares to approach it, except Ean. His unique talents may be the key to understanding this alarming new force and forever reconfiguring the relationship between humans and the ships that serve them.

Absolutely Excellent Story - Sci-fi Meets Fantasy
This book was one of the better audiobooks I've listened to this year. It was well written, well narrated, and had a very original and unique concept.
Although difficult to explain in a quick summary, the "lines" are lines of energy that control various ship systems. The "line" technology (we find out later in the book) was actually reverse engineered from an alien ship discovered hundreds of years before the events in the storyline. Many aspects of the technology are not completely understood, and two of the lines (7 and 8) have no apparent purpose. The lines can only be fixed by a select few people known as Linesmen. These people have a type of extra sensory perception and are able to sense, manipulate, and fix the lines on ships. Linesmen are rated from 1-10, with their number depicting the highest line that they can manipulate. Level 10 Linesmen can manipulate all 10 lines, and are few and far between.
The story is told primarily from the point-of-view Ian Lambert, a Level 10 Linesman. Raised in the slums of a backwater world, he is considered an outcast by the other Linesman. He is also the only Linesman who senses and manipulates the lines with sound (by singing) and not with his mind, further convincing his peers that he doesn't belong. When he is accidentally hired by a high-born noble for a critical mission, his value and uniqueness as a Linesman become more apparent. He joins a ship full of government and military officials to explore a new alien ship that has been discovered in a remote area of space. The ship itself has defenses preventing anyone from reaching it. When it is discovered that only Ian can reach out and communicate with the ship and its lines, he becomes the most valuable resource in the galaxy, making him the target of multiple governments and military factions.
It isn't very often we see a truly unique story such as this. The book contained everything from alien ships, space battles, and a dash of fantasy with the Linesman concept. This was one of my best spent credits in awhile. The narration equally top notch. I would recommend this one for anyone looking for something new in a sci-fi story.
    Loved it!
I loved it, this is one of my favorite series. I am looking forward to listening to book 2.
    Snoozer
There are many good reviews for this book, but I found it BORING.

NOT CHEAP, FRUGAL. Response to Jan
    OFF GRID, LOG
Let me start with the narrator, which I only ever do, if he/she is real bad or real good. If you are going to write a prepper novel, an apocalypse novel and you want your audible version to be popular, than hire Kevin Pierce. Kevin's voice seems to add a certain amount of credibility to a story. As long as you don't have a whole bunch of characters, as his character voices are numbered. Kevin is the number one narrator for this genre and I love his voice. Kevin turns this book from four stars to five.
TRUSTING THE GOVERNMENT TO UNSTOPPER THE GENIE IN THE BOTTLE
The main character is more a McGyver than a prepper, which makes him even more important when the shit hits the fan. If you did not prepare for an EMP (I KNOW WHAT A EMP IS), this book can help you better than any other. He shows how to take things you already have and make them work in any situation. What I like about this book, is that the main character is not a Mr. Know It All. He is a very likable character, who is not always saying I Told You So, or putting down non-preppers.
    Response to Jan's Rant
Jan wrote almost two years ago about the paid reviewers, which is a subject I have ranted about. It is even worse now. These individuals are now appearing at the top of the reviewer categories. Partially because everything they write is positive. When you write a negative review, those who liked the book get upset at you and your review. Some of them have even taken their hate toward me a step farther than the one review. They seek out my other reviews and without even reading them, dink me. They also work together to bolster each other. That is why it is important to follow someone with your tastes. This is not a plea for followers as my taste have a tendency to be more sophomoric and gory than others. Matter of fact I was going to follow Jan, but it turns out she hates books I like and loves some I don't like. So, while I am with her about reviewers, I am not going to follow her and she won't follow me, as our taste in books differ.
Prepper "Story" and my rant on phoney reviews...
So here we have the first part of a novel rather than a complete story. At time of this review there are no further stories available to complete this novel. The price if you don't use a credit isn't horrible... but there are currently 5 available on Kindle so that's at least $25 to get the full book.
I do very much like the plot, characters and information presented and would have ranked this higher if it had been a complete book.

I can't wait for the next book!
    Non stop listem!l
I couldn't fall asleep listening to this story. I enjoyed every minute?
Listening non stop for so long however, gets expensive.
The narration was very well done.
Great story! Could not wait to get the next one!
What did you love best about Eagle One?
I loved the story and the characters.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Neal, I love military men I married one.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Mark Westfield?
He is not my favorite but the story is so good it is worth it.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I am not an emotional person so no.
    Any additional comments?
Keep up the good work. Great series.
gets a little boring close to the end
the story starts to lose intrest and almost feels like he is grasping to finish out the book. I do like the series so far and am interested to see where the story goes but please keep it a little more interesting
    Improved. But not there yet
Narraration improved from the first book. So did the writing style. Still kinda flat. A lot of wishful thinking but not plausible. At all. Especially the deal with Portland. A lot of potential could of been tapped for more entertaining story but was just rolled over.
Not bad overall. Have heard worse books.
    struggled with this book
The idea behind this book series is interesting, book 1 was ok, book 2 fell short for me. Between the narrator and/or the way the author wrote the book, there is something off that has caused me to lose interest.

    Title: Dragon in Exile
Subtitle: Liaden Universe: Arc of the Covenants, Book 1
    Author: Sharon Lee, Steve Miller
    Narrator: Kevin T. Collins
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 15 hrs and 45 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 06-02-15
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 163 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
Star-trading Clan Korval - known to Terrans as the Tree-and-Dragon Family and to the locals simply as the Dragon - has been convicted of crimes against the homeworld. No matter that one of the "crimes" consisted of saving the elitist planet of Liad from very real internal threats, the Council of Clans wanted Korval heads to roll. Unfortunately for the council, the Dragon's allies conspired to impose a milder punishment for saving the world: banishment rather than execution.
Now relocated to the free-for-all world of Surebleak, the Dragon is under contract to keep the Port Road open to all traffic and to back the New Bosses in imposing law and order on a society originally based on larceny and assassination. This modest rustication is going surprisingly well until Korval discovers that the enemy they'd sought to destroy wasn't quite destroyed. And is more determined than ever to eradicate Korval.
While the banishment killed no one initially, many of Korval's trading allies are spooked. Some are reneging on ancient agreements, leaving the Dragon to make its own way. The clan's efforts to stealthily recruit new allies is going haywire, and a secret death toll is rising even as the clan's adherents endure increasing exposure to danger and deceit off world.
To make matters worse, an active portion of Surebleak's native population liked the Old Ways just fine and are conspiring to take the New Bosses - and the Dragon - down and are sure they have the firepower and people to do it.
The exiled Dragon has to make an urgent choice: accept an alliance with criminals or face down each and every enemy in person, one by one.
    Critic Reviews:
"[S]prawling and satisfying.... Space opera mixes with social engineering, influenced by Regency-era manners and delicate notions of honor.... [I]t's like spending time with old friends...." (Publishers Weekly)

Korval on Surebleak, many story lines progress
Dragon in Exile continues the story of Clan Korval on their new home of the planet Surebleak. Almost all the various storylines progress in this book with the exception of Theo Waitley and Bechemo, who appear, but where we don't get a lot that moves their story forward. This is an excellent addition to the Liaden Universe from Sharon Lee and Steve Miller and the story is highly recommended. The narration from Stephen T. Collins is not his best. He still seems to be struggling with his sense of pace and narrative volume, though it's certainly better than his last Liaden reading, Trade Secret. I'm disappointed in Mr. Collins, because I know he can do better.
But please, don't let that minor complaint slow you down. This is an excellent addition to the Liaden Universe and highly recommended.
    Is there a plot?
I'm a huge fan of Lee and Miller. I've even bought Audible editions of books that I've read. This is the first book of theirs that I've been disappointed in. There doesn't seem to be any plot arc. Problems pop up but are quickly dealt with. There doesn't seem to be a main character in the book. It pops back and forth between too many people to offer any continuity.
I'm totally disappointed in Mr. Collins as a reader, which is a shame because, with the right book, I think he could be very good.
