I am often asked about what are the first things you should do when you get a new dog, most of these questions are around a dog that is not a puppy, so the philosophy is similar, for young puppies 8 weeks to 5 months, it is much different than the response for a dog older than 6 months.
The best protocol is when you get a new dog is to spend the first 30 days, working on lots of structure, guidance, behavior, obedience, teach the dog what you want and what you don't want.
