There’s no time like the present, except when you use your DVR to skip through commercials and less than thrilling moments of a football game, as Tom does. Scott is an old school purist who eschews the DVR, and patiently watches the game in real time, as Tom was forced to do last Sunday. Tom, and the other denizens of their bucolic Catskills hamlet, must load their often pricey vehicles with bags of garbage and recycling to deposit at the Town Dump. Scott proudly takes his bags of paper and plastics in the elevator to the recycling bins, but doesn’t shout, “I’m doing the right thing to save the planet.”

Scott and Tom have an impromptu ten minute therapy session that amazingly gives Tom an epiphany about why he doesn’t clip coupons as his Dad did. Scott reaffirms his status as “America’s Deal Finder, by talking about his long held love for “quality merchandise at drastically discounted prices.”

“Mmmm Good: Tom and Scott’s Guide to Happiness”, is the book we haven’t written yet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan the gala book launch event to be held at the grand New York Public Library. In fact, once we book the venue, that will give us a deadline to finish the book. Then we can plan the gala for our next unwritten book, “Things That Didn’t Happen”, which also is one of our keys to happiness.

Our podcast has been shown to have a curative, but not preventive, effect on the virus. And it’s not because Scott is a scholar on the 1918 Spanish Flu because he has read the first seven pages of The Great Influenza. Or because Tom earned a PHD through graduate home schooling. But we do hope to get the endorsement of the CDC.

Tom and Scott make the much awaited announcement that they will seek unreelection as self appointed, unelected co-Mayors of Irving Place. And they get ahead of the rumors about Tom allegedly being a no show on the street, by proving that both Tom and Scott are showing up all the time, without making a big show about it. Except for this show.

It’s a very special Getting Through This New Year’s Laughin’ Eve with Tom and Scott. In the world we have created, there were plenty of great moments for us in 2021. We have inspired ourselves, and we hope you, dear listeners, as well. Our show is a digital time capsule, an ebullient and hopeful record of an uncertain time.
