6:05pm- The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Bill and Hillary Clinton—seeking testimony for the committee’s Jeffrey Epstein investigation. Hillary has been asked to appear for testimony on October 9th, while Bill has been asked to appear on October 14th.

6:10pm- According to a report from The New York Times, Ghislaine Maxwell opposes the government’s request to unseal grand jury testimony related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

6:30pm- At least fifty-one Texas House Democrats fled the state as part of an effort to deny the Texas House a quorum—effectively preventing a vote on redistricting while also prolonging a vote on providing financial relief for families impacted by last month’s devastating floods that killed more than 120 people. In response, Governor Greg Abbott has argued that fleeing the state to prevent the legislative process simply because you don’t like the expected outcome of an upcoming vote amounts to an “abandonment or forfeiture of an elected state office.”

6:40pm- During her monologue on Monday night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow stated that the United States now “has an authoritarian leader in charge, a consolidating dictatorship.”
