मेटा के मुख्य सोशल मीडिया बिजनेस के ग्रोथ की चाल रुकी हुई है, और इसने अपने "मेटावर्स" टेक्नोलॉजी में जो इन्वेस्ट किया है, उससे कंपनी को रिटर्न नहीं मिल रहा है.

मेटा ने 2020 और सितंबर 2022 के बीच 42,000 कर्मचारियों को काम पर रखा, जिससे कंपनी के खर्च में वृद्धि हुई. ये मेटा के लगभग आधे कर्मचारी हैं.

जुकरबर्ग आर्टिफीसियल इंटेलिजेंस आधारित यूनिवर्स- "मेटावर्स" को तैयार करने पर जोर दे रहे हैं जिससे कंपनी के खर्चों में भारी वृद्धि हुई है.

कंपनी रियलिटी लैब्स के माध्यम से "मेटावर्स" पर खर्च बढ़ा रही है जिसपर निवेशकों ने नाराजगी व्यक्त की है. इससे पिछले तीन महीनों में 3.7 बिलियन डॉलर का नुकसान हुआ है. आगे 2023 में इस घाटे के और बढ़ने का अनुमान है. मेटा ने 2021 की शुरुआत से अपने मेटावर्स प्रोजेक्ट पर $15 बिलियन से अधिक खर्च किए हैं, लेकिन यूजर्स की संख्या में भारी गिरावट देखी जा रही है.

तीसरी तिमाही के बाद मेटा का मुनाफा 52 प्रतिशत गिरकर 4.4 अरब डॉलर हो गया और उनके स्टॉक में एक दिन में 25 प्रतिशत की गिरावट आई. पिछले एक साल में, उनका बाजार मूल्य 600 अरब डॉलर तक गिर गया है. अकेले इस साल मेटा के शेयर में 70% से ज्यादा की गिरावट आई है.

भारतीय इंजीनियर स्टीफन वेजली को जब ग्राफिक डिजाइनर की नौकरी के लिए हो रहे इंटरव्यू में टाइपिंग टेस्ट देने को कहा गया तो उन्हें अजीब तो लगा था. लेकिन नौकरी थाईलैंड में थी और उन्हें मिल भी गई तो उन्होंने इस बारे में ज्यादा नहीं सोचा.

जुलाई महीने में वह नौकरी जॉइन करने बैंकॉक पहुंच गए. वहां से उन्हें और उनके साथ ही जॉइन करने आए सात और साथियों को सड़क मार्ग से म्यांमार ले जाया गया. वहां उनके पासपोर्ट और अन्य दस्तावेज ले लिए गए और उन्हें ऑनलाइन क्रिप्टोकरंसी ठगी के काम में लगा दिया गया.

दिल्ली पुलिस ने सोमवार को ‘द वायर’ के संस्थापक सिद्धार्थ वरदराजन और संपादकों एमके वेणु, जाह्नवी सेन और सिद्धार्थ भाटिया के घरों पर छापेमारी की. भाजपा आईटी विभाग के प्रमुख अमित मालवीय की शिकायत पर पुलिस ने ये कार्रवाई की है.

सूत्रों के मुताबिक, छापेमारी के दौरान फोन और अन्य इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरण जब्त किए गए हैं. अभी तक किसी को हिरासत में नहीं लिया गया है.

यह छापेमारी भाजपा आईटी सेल के प्रमुख अमित मालवीय द्वारा समाचार पोर्टल और उसके पत्रकारों के खिलाफ कई रिपोर्टों के संबंध में प्राथमिकी दर्ज किए जाने के कुछ दिनों बाद हुई थी, जिसे बाद में वापस ले लिया गया था, जिसमें जिक्र था कि कैसे मालवीय को सोशल मीडिया की दिग्गज कंपनी मेटा में खास तवज्जो प्राप्त हैं, जो फेसबुक और इंस्टाग्राम का मालिक है.

दिल्ली पुलिस की अपराध शाखा में वरदराजन, वेणु, भाटिया और सेन के खिलाफ आईपीसी की धारा 420 (धोखाधड़ी), 468 (धोखाधड़ी के उद्देश्य से जालसाजी), 469 (प्रतिष्ठा को नुकसान पहुंचाने के लिए जालसाजी), 471 (जाली दस्तावेज का उपयोग) 500 (मानहानि), 120 बी (आपराधिक साजिश) और 34 (सामान्य इरादा) के तहत प्राथमिकी दर्ज की गई है.

दिल्ली पुलिस के सूत्रों ने पुष्टि की कि छापेमारी मालवीय द्वारा दर्ज मामले के संबंध में और अपराध शाखा द्वारा जांच के लिए की गई.
