  • #XMAS
Megan and Wendy don't know everything but they know something about SEO and the title of this new Hallmark Channel movie isn't doing anyone any favors. Aside from that, listen in as Megan and Wendy recap and review the movie #XMAS starring Clare Bowen and Brant Daugherty. This movie about perfection and the evils of social media premiered on Friday, November 25th as part of Hallmark's annual Merry Thanksgiving Weekend. Swing and a miss? Email us your thoughts on #XMAS at [email protected]. Breaking Hallmark News According to US Weekly, Candace Cameron Bure has unfollowed Jodie Sweetin on Instagram. Sweetin reposted Holly Robinson Peete's recent post about inclusivity. Do we think this was the catalyst for the unfollow? About #XMAS This movie was directed by Heather Hawthorn Doyle who has 33 directing credits including this year’s "The Secrets of Vista Bella," "A Splash of Love," and "Romance to the Rescue." Joie Botkin who has written this year's "Our Italian Christmas Memories," "Maple Valley Christmas," and "Mid-Love Crisis." co-writes with Emily Baer Clare Bowen stars as Jen. She played Scarlett O’Connor in the country music series "Nashville." This is her second Hallmark movie. She previously starred in a 2021 Summer Nights movie called "Sand Dollar Cove" with Chad Michael Murray. Clare is a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with a nephroblastoma (a rare kidney cancer commonly seen in children) at 4 years old. Doctors gave her a few weeks to live though she underwent experimental treatment and surgery which damaged one of her kidneys, part of her diaphragm and "some of her guts" - according to this 2017 article in the Tennessean. Brant Daugherty plays Max. He is known for his role on "Pretty Little Liars" and competed on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2013. He was also in a "Royal Runaway Romance" earlier this year. Karen Kruper plays mom Liz Taylor. She has was in this weekend’s "Time For Him to Come Home for Christmas." This movie was originally titled HASHTAG CHRISTMAS. Check out our step-by-step tutorial on how to review Girls Gone Hallmark. Your 5-STAR rating and written review really helps others find the podcast. Read here on how to leave an Apple Podcast review. About "Three Wise Men and a Baby" This was Hallmark’s first movie featuring three male leads. Was "The Wedding Veil" trilogy the first Hallmark movie with three female leads? Who knows the answer? Email us at [email protected]. Baby Thomas was played by twin girls Katie and Kallie who are now 10-months old. This was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. Written by Paul Campbell and Kimberley Sustad. They also have together written 2020’s "Christmas By Starlight" - which has been re-airing on Hallmark Channel. Terry Ingram directed. He now has 4 movies in the top ten Hallmark debuts for 2022. Margaret Colin who plays Barbara Brenner - mom of Luke, Taylor and Stephan - was also in the 1987 "Three Men and a Baby" where she played Tom Selleck’s girlfriend. Bravo to casting! Tom Selleck resigned from the NRA board in 2018 citing scheduling conflicts. Ali Liebert (who plays Fiona), directed "North to Home" - also starring Kimberley Sustad. Our Thoughts on "Three Wise Men and a Baby" This is a synopsis of the ideas we discuss in greater detail on "Girls Gone Hallmark". We invite you to become listeners of the show to hear our full thoughts and dive deeper into the world of Hallmark movies with us! What We Liked Let's start with what we absolutely loved. The focus on the brothers and their relationship was a refreshing twist. We appreciated how the movie abandoned the typical Hallmark holiday tropes to bring us a story that was heartfelt and relatable. The chemistry between the three male leads was undeniable, and you could truly feel the bond of friendship among them. One of the highlights? Tyler Hynes living in his mom's basement. When she called him for dinner and he replied, “Ma, I’ll be upstairs in a minute,” it was sheer perfection. We also loved the everyday baby hijinks, from putting together the swing to dealing with stinky diapers. It brought a delightful, real-life touch to the movie. The emotional depth was also a strong point. Scenes like the brothers' car conversation about their mom and dad really tugged at our heartstrings. Not to mention the film’s sensitive portrayal of single motherhood, and the grace they showed to the struggling mother who needed help. What We Wished For While we were mostly enamored with the movie, we had a couple of small wishes: Firstly, we struggled a bit with the believability of a mother leaving her eight-month-old at a fire station. While we understand the storyline aimed to illustrate desperation, it felt a little off given modern-day contexts. Secondly, the romantic subplot between Andrew Walker’s character and Sophie felt a bit too neat and tidy. We loved that they ended up together, but it seemed driven more by his affection for baby Thomas rather than a genuine romantic connection. • A Magical Christmas Village
Megan and Wendy are Girls Gone Hallmark. Listen in as they review and rate "A Magical Christmas Village" starring Alison Sweeney and Luke Mcfarlane. This movie premiered on November 4, 2022 as part of Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas. What do you think of Wendy's alternate ending? - Email the show at [email protected]. Girls Gone Hallmark is a Hallmark Channel movie podcast hosted by Megan and Wendy. Each week they recap, review and rate new original movies. This week, Girls Gone Hallmark reviews "A Magical Christmas Village" starring Ali Sweeney and Luke Macfarlane. Hallmark Channel News and Notes Peacock started streaming Hallmark Channel movies on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Pros/Cons: Pro: Front loads the movie with commercials (approximately 145 seconds), never another commercial throughout the movie. Not sure about commercials during "live streaming" but would assume the same commercials air as seen on the Hallmark Channel. Con: New movies are only on demand for a very limited amount of time. News and Notes for "A Magical Christmas Village" Melissa Salmons wrote the screenplay for "A Magical Christmas Village." She has 13 writing credits per IMDB including “Christmas at Holly Lodge,” “The Irresistible Blueberry Farm,” and “Murder She Baked” all starring Ali Sweeney. She also wrote 114 episodes of Days of Our Lives from 2012-2016 - guessing some of those also included Ali Sweeney. Ali Sweeney stars as Summer in this film. Signed a multi picture deal with Hallmark back in September. Luke Macfarlane plays Ryan. This was his 14th movie for Hallmark. As we all know, he told the LA Times earlier this year that this movie would likely be his last for the network. Was Macfarlane throwing shade in this People Magazine article? Macfarlane’s “BROS” is now available to rent online via Amazon. Rolling Stone reported that it will likely be free to stream on Peacock in the next few weeks. According to IMDB, Macfarlane will next star in the comedy “Platonic” on AppleTV, also starring Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan. Marlo Thomas has 54 acting credits. She was last seen in 2018’s “Oceans 8.” Of course we also know her as a fundraising force for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Fun fact: do you know she played Rachel’s mom on “Friends?” Maesa Nicholson plays daughter Chloe. She has 3 acting credits on IMDB all from Hallmark Channel and all from 2022 including “North to Home” and “Curious Caterer: Dying for Chocolate.”  This was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
