Welcome back to the Psalms for Summer’s End podcast series! I hope that as we all anticipate the turning of the season that these truths will encourage and strengthen us along the way!

Today you’ll hear all about our family’s FIRST trip to Lost Valley Ranch, a place–as many of you know–that would become a refuge for our family these past five years! It was when the Lord awakened us once again to wonder. Who-even-knew how a lope through a creek, on a horse, could change my life forever! 

We’ll be in Psalm 8 together today remembering the majesty and mindfulness of God in the way that He made us and blessed us at Creation! Looking to His Word together has a way of clearing our view like nothing else can. Even when we can’t see the full picture, we can see Jesus and the love of God in sending Him to us!

Welcome back to the Psalms for Summer’s End podcast series! These near and dear podcast episodes were previously released to my patron audience only and now we’re making them available to YOU! These were recorded a few years back but God’s Word is living and active, so I hope that they meet you right where you are with the peace that only God can give!

Today we’ll dive into a not-so-obvious Psalm that’s one of those that you love at the beginning but you have no idea what to do with the middle and then “yay!” the ending is back to the fun stuff! Following the circle of lament, we’ll learn to wrestle with that weighty stuff in the middle–that our lives are basically a vapor–here today, gone tomorrow. But, there’s HOPE in holding the tension that we can actually build something that long outlasts us, as we make the most of our own “once upon a time until kingdom come”.

The world, with all its chaos and charm sets a trap. But Jesus…he sets a table. 

SURPRISE! I’m so excited to release this series of podcasts that have been so near and dear to my heart! These were originally created for my podcast patrons only and haven’t been released to the public until now! I called the series, “Summer in the Psalms” but since we’re nearing the golden hour of the summer of ‘22,  I think we can receive them as “Psalms for Summer’s End.” (Makes me exhale just saying it!) 

Keep in mind that these podcasts are from a few summers ago! That means you’ll hear me talking about Noah’s 18th birthday, Annie’s 11th, and that Ellie was just 15! Can we all just stop and have a big ole cry over that? This summer they are 22, 15 and 19 going on 20. Time flies y’all. 

All the more reason to sit in the Psalms together as summer ends. In today’s episode  we’ll talk a little bit about sheep (hello, us!) and how we have a perfect Shepherd who knows our every need. He is skillful in caring for his own and when we become receptive to that care, we find that all our wants and needs are satisfied in him alone. We’re accepted, we’re covered, we’re called by name….we’re home.

This was a little bit of an emotional process for me in getting this episode into your hands! Today we will come around the very last chapter in my new book The Life You Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest. The chapter we’ll look at is “Always Remember to Never Forget.” Whether you’ve heard my song titled this or read this chapter, I think today’s episode on this still stands alone! I think there’s no better time to remember together what I call “The Seven Wonders of the Beloved” in this chapter, which are the who, whose, when, where, how, what and why of our lives. 

These are prodding answers in the form of questions that help us remember who and whose we are so that we can stand faithfully in our “when”—knowing full-well “where” we are in Christ—so that we can be about the how, what and why or our day and our lives! I’m welcoming back my lovely friend @magenleighroberson as my co-host today as we come around what is shamelessly my FAVORITE chapter in my new book The Life You Long For: Learning to Live From a Heart of Rest. It’s called “The Power of Small” and what makes the small so powerful is that we serve a God of multiplication! Today we will pause from our regular podcast series to come around the beauty of the heart of a mother. Wherever you are in your journey, if you are a woman, you can carry a mother’s heart! You don’t have to be a mother physically to carry a mother’s heart spiritually! 

I pray that today you are reminded that you have a Father who delights in you and loves you and longs to FILL you with everything you need in order that you might freely give away what you’ve received! NEW PODCAST TODAY! I had THE most beautiful time getting to catch up with the lovely @ellieholcomb today on the podcast! As you know I’ve been inviting friends and family to “co-host” with me during this season as a way of celebrating my new book The Life You Long For: Learning to Live From a Heart of Rest. Today we jump into one of my FAVORITE chapters in the book called “Everything is Mine in You” named after a song that Ellie and I wrote together the day we first met! It comes around the truth of 1 Corinthians 3 where Paul urges us to not boast in human leaders because “All things are ours in Christ!” What a truth to declare, even when we stand and ponder circumstances that seem impossible to overcome! We got to reminisce about our days of getting to tour together (over 20 years ago now!) and how grateful we are to still be friends after all this time!
