This week on the show we are joined by Dr Jenna Ashton (@heritagemcr). Jenna is a Lecturer in heritage studies at the University of Manchester and her current project, Community Climate Resilience, is working with working class communities in Miles Platting and Newton Heath through folk pageantry (@CreativeResMcr). We look at what folk pageantry actually is, how art can help develop working class spaces and galvanise communities, and how we should use art and crafting to help imagine future utopias.

If you've seen the news in the UK in the last month, you'll be well aware that our old energy system is having a bad time.
With gas prices spiking, all the noise from COP26, and the public's temperament towards climate activism cooling, it's probably worth figuring out what the hell is going on with our energy supply, and how we make it equitable and sustainable for generations to come.
This week on the show we are joined by Jan Rosenow (@janrosenow). Jan is the European director of the Regulatory assistance project (RAP) which is dedicated to speeding up the transition to clean and green energy. He also is a special advisor to the UK government's Department of Business, Energy and industrial Strategy (BEIS).
We discuss what is causing the current energy crisis, who has a stake in for the UK's future energy mix (and what measures they'll go to to defend those stakes,) what politics is created by energy production, and the viability of community energy systems.

It's been a big news week in Manchester, so to kick off the show the whole gang discuss our new incoming council Leader councillor Bev Craig. Will this be a glorious green future for Manchester, or business as usual with a Sir Richard Leese 2.0 at the helm?
In the second half of the show, Ads is joined by podcast veteran Chris Saltmarsh (@Chris_Saltmarsh), co-founder of Labour for a Green New Deal, to discuss his new book Burnt, Fighting for Climate Justice. Ads is also joined by local legend Sean Benstead. We discuss what went down with the GND motion at Labour conference this year, the strength of the climate movement in the Labour party, the power of the state in affecting capitalism and climate, and why trade unions should be at the heart of the fight to save the planet.

To kick off our coverage of Labour conference 2021 we have a panel chaired by Labour for a Green New Deal' very own Chris Saltmarsh (@Chris_Saltmarsh). The most successful of recent climate solutions have been the global campaign for a Green New Deal and also the Degrowth movement. But are we sending mixed messages, undermining each others’ work, or can these two streams of progressive environmentalism be reconciled?
Chris is joined on the panel by Harpreet Kaur Paul (@HarpreetKPaul) and Gareth Dale (@Gareth_Dale)
This panel was recorded on saturday the 25th of September 2021 in Old Stein Gardens
Thanks to the Ecologist for letting us record their event.

This week on the show we are joined by Kai Heron (@KaiHeron). Kai is a lecturer in Politics at Manchester University, writing on political economy with a focus on land struggles and climate change. We discuss why Land use and public ownership of land is a key plank of a meaningful GND, How a GND could be jumping off point for our socialist utopias and if theological frameworks are necessary to build lasting social movements.

You cannot move for environmental activist groups in the world today. From hyperlocal save X park groups, to clean streets organisations, to the giants of Extinction Rebellion and Friends of the Earth. How are these different groups successful? How do you keep a group going to secure the future of the planet pressure groups need longevity?
This week on the show we are joined by Martin Porter (@dassnufkin) who spoke to us about OGs Greenpeace – which this month celebrates 50 years of environmental activism. Martin is a local group co-ordinator for Greenpeace based in Glossop.
We get into the anti nuclear testing origins of Greenpeace, how the organisation is run, what's kept it going for so long and we examine its relationship with the other big environmental groups.

This week we’re diving to the very core of the capitalist economy and well most economics- Work. Your 9-5, that zero hours contract your bread making, back breaking labour. We spend alot of time wondering what work we can do to save the planet but do we need work in the traditional sense at all? And does our emotional response to work make it harder to demand better conditions?
This week on the show we are joined by Labour Journalist and author of the fantastic book “ Work wont love you back” Sarah Jaffe. We discuss what Labour Journalism is, why "work" is defined by some labour and not others and is the Green New Deal just trying to revive the Fordist bargain for white men?
