We had such high hopes for this episode. Plus the story had so much potential! Instead we get 50 minutes of Tubbs walking around St. Gerard, ordering everyone to sell him a gun. Even the church turns on him. In the end, Tubbs gets another girlfriend shot and lays down the law on a bunch of chumps.

This is an end to the Calderone story line too. After all the episodes, the twists and turns and so many of their family being murdered by Vice… As John points out, this is the “western movie” version of Miami Vice.

Meanwhile, Dominic is in love with horseback riding Tubbs and wonders if they did find Vincent D’Onofrio on vacation. Melissa only wants an answer to one question… Where is Rico Jr.?

Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat Tubbs is setup by Orlando Calderone and marooned on an island in the episode The Afternoon Plane . On This Week in Vice we'll be covering the when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Feb. 16 to Feb. 22 , 1987, when Miami Vice was King.

On Feb. 20 the American Cancer Society aired a National anti-smoking campaign with the help of the late Yul Brynner. The stage star had died from lung cancer in 1985, but had expressed the desire to create an anti-smoking ad before his death. Using a clip from an interview on Good Morning America the ad debuted on all major networks with Yul Brynner says "Now that I'm gone, I tell you: Don't smoke. Whatever you do, just don't smoke."

Bon Jovi deservedly still holds the top spot with Livin' on a Prayer so we gotta go to the archives. Peaking at number 13 on the Hot 100 is the glam rock band Cinderella with Nobody's Fool The song was the second single from their debut album Night Songs. The music video picks up the story from their first single, ending the Cinderella story line.

Same song top the charts and the same movie is king of the box office with Platoon winning the weekend again. So lets go back to last week and cover one I skipped. Starring Andrew McCarthy, Kim Catrell (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Cattrall) and James Spader (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Spader) the movie Mannequin is showing in theaters. The plot revolves around a struggling artist who takes odd jobs and finds an ancient Egyptian hiding as a mannequin still looking for true love. These are all facts. The only saving grace for this film is Estelle Getty appearing as Mrs. Clair Timkin. But not even a Golden Girl can save this movie.

In a kind-of sequel to Duty and Honor? Fine, its not a sequel to the previous episode. But, Crockett's girlfriend is still here and things are getting serious. So serious he's measuring the girth of her finger… Okay, that sounds wrong. But, he is serious about marrying this woman and Crockett is finally going to find personal happiness with the (second) love of his life. There's only one problem. She's a junkie and is actively providing information to wanted dealers who kill police officers and all can be traced back to a leak by Sonny. Its not a major problem right?

Okay, okay so it is a big deal. But Crockett doesn't care. He loves her and will do anything including forcing her to leave and never seeing her again.

We cover the whole gamut on this episode. John is kinda bored and is more interested in our muscle bound security guard/saxaphone player. Melissa wants Crockett to be happy, just not with a junkie (get out of here Theresa). Meanwhile Dominic totally gushes over the episode and lays it all out there why this might be the best episode of the season.

Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat Crockett's girlfriends addiction threatens his case and his career in the episode Theresa. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering the when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Feb. 9 to Feb. 15 , 1987, when Miami Vice was King.

On Feb. 15 the television miniseries Amerika premiered on ABC. Starring Kris Krisofferson, Sam Neil, Robert Urich and Lara Flynn Boyle the story is about life in the United States after a takeover by the Soviet Union. The series was 14-1/2 hours long with TV Guide calling Amerika "The most boring miniseries in a decade".

Pushing Madonna aside and triumphantly returning to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 is the triple platinum Bon Jovi classic Living on a Prayer. Often considered the greatest song of the 80's, any time this song is played strangers unite arm in arm and joyously sing together. The whole world rooted for Tommy and Gina, just hold on to what you got and give it a shot.

Platoon still holds the box office for one more week so we have to go to the archives. I could talk about the romantic comedy Mannequin starring Andrew McCarthy and Kim Catrell but its not very good and would force me to acknowledge Starship's and their Oscar nominated song. Instead I'd rather talk about the much better film and the greatest arm wrestling movie ever Over The Top. Starring Sylvester Stallone as Lincoln Hawk, he treks to Las Vegas to compete in the World Arm Wrestling Championship to win back the love of his son and get a new long haul big rig. This is the type of movie that makes the 80's the best decade.

Lets get something straight, no one and I mean no one, rocks the ponytail as good as Castillo. It doesn’t matter it was in a flashback and its okay he doesn’t have his moustache. Party Marty is here to solve your dead hooker problem. This episode was originally titled “The Savage” but for one reason or another, the much cooler title was dropped for this generic moniker.

But, this is a great episode of Miami Vice! We dive deep into Marty’s past and find out he was essentially Saigon Vice before Miami. He also has a best friend… who’s actually a doppelganger! That’s what’s great about Castillo episodes, we take a deep story and have the team do a bunch of stuff they’ll never do again.

Dominic has a hard time telling which number is bigger than the other and questions where the team gets their wigs. Melissa is always in awe of Marty and his ninja ways. John is watching the burgening friendship between Marty and Trahn.

Pals, you’re gonna love this episode of your Miami Vice podcast.

Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat a serial killer from Castillo's past wreak's havoc on the city of Miami in the episode Duty and Honor. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering the when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Jan. 26 to Feb. 8 , 1987, when Miami Vice was King.

Its a rather slow news week. The NFL Pro Bowl ended with a surprising low score of 10-6, a new no-smoking rule in US Federal Buildings takes effect and the 44th. Golden Globes gives awards with Don Johnson being nominated for Best actor (losing to Edward Woodward) and Miami Vice nominated for best drama series (losing to LA Law). In happy news from my childhood, on Feb. 7 The Hart Foundation defeated The British Bulldogs to win the WWF Tag Team Championship. I remember quite fondly this exact match and Bret Hart is still one of my favorite wrestlers.

Madonna finally makes it back to the top of the Hot 100. From the album True Blue, Open Your Heart reaches number one and performed well internationally as well. The song was originally written for other artists but eventually made it to Madonna who would rewrite and produced the song. Open Your Heart was well received by critics, although the music video got a much different response.

Finally moving Richard Pryor from the top of the box office is the anti-war epic Platoon. Written and directed by Oliver Stone, the film had an all-star cast including Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe, Charlie Sheen, Forest Whitaker, Kevin Dillon and a very young Johnny Depp. Set in the Vietnam War, the film was a critical and commercial success, winning multiple Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director.

Life after Zito is upon us and we’re not taking it… well. This story takes some interesting turns, but in general is just kinda boring. After an opening that has both Miami and Metro Vice working the same person, things take a quick turn as Cuban resistance guerillas attempt to steal from a big time drug dealer. But as John points out, they may not be the most professional.

We have a ton of fun with this episode of Miami Vice. Melissa is still angry at Castillo and everyone else on the team (don’t worry, she’ll get over it) and generally is bored with this episode. John questions why the fighters are doing so much training if they can’t even hit a limo with a bazooka and he welcomes back “Castillo The Decider”.

Its one of our best Go With The Heat episodes ever.

Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat a crooked CIA agent helps a band of Cuban resistance fighters while the Vice team rushes to stop them and save on mans family in the episode Cuba Libre. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering the when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Jan. 19 to Jan. 25, 1987, when Miami Vice was King.

On January 22, after being found guilty of 11 counts including conspiracy, mail fraud, perjury and racketeering Treasurer of Pennsylvania R. Budd Dwyer, a day before his sentencing, committed suicide at a press conference in front of reporters, staffers and local news cameras. Treasurer Dwyer maintained his innocence throughout the trial and his final press conference before pulling the trigger handgun he had hiding in a manila envelope. Many local TV news stations re-aired the footage throughout the day, some without warning its viewers.

Rising back up the Billboard Hot 100 is At This Moment by Billy Vera and the Beaters. From the self titled album, the song was actually released in 1981 and charted at number 79 on the Hot 100. 5 years later, the TV show Family Ties would use it as the love song between Alex P. Keeton, played by Michael J. Fox, and his girlfriend Ellen Reed (Tracy Pollan). The new interest in the song would spur the record label to re-release the song and would land it at the top spot.

Critical Condition will hold the box office for one more week, so we gotta go to the archives. Debuting on Jan. 16, the film The Bedroom Window lands in theaters. The psychological thriller stars Isabelle Huppert, Elizabeth McGovern and Steve Guttenberg. "Psychological Thriller" and "Steve Guttenberg" were two things I never thought I'd say in a sentence, but its a real thing. The film is essentially an 80's take on the Hitchcock classic Rear Window and received mixed reviews in its run.

Its time for us to all get revenge on Guzman and clear Zito’s name! Zito will not go down as a junkie and Crockett will finally get his man. But before then, we give the team ample time to mess around and get involved where they’re not welcome. Guzman hasn’t just brought the ire of the Miami Vice, but also of a big time mafia boss in Las Vegas who is personally flying to Miami to deal with this “chili pepper head”.

One thing is consistent, we are very, VERY upset with Crockett and Castillo. Crockett falls into his normal trap of willing to put anything and anyone on the line to bring in the perp. Castillo is so by the books, he looks generally annoyed with the Zito issue.

We bring the claws out and are looking for revenge!
