Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat Ted Nugent guest stars in a very hot, steamy and very sweaty episode titled Definitely Miami. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering the unusually large gap in time when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Dec. 15, 1985 to Jan. 11, 1986, when Miami Vice was King.

On Dec. 21 the 883-foot tanker Arco Anchorage carrying 900,000 barrels of oil ran aground outside Port Angeles spilling 4,500 barrels and causing major ecological damage in the Puget Sound.

On Dec. 27, terrorists attacked ticket counters in a coordinated attack at the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport outside of Rome and the Vienna International Airport. In total 19 people were killed and over one hundred others injured.

On the top of the Hot 100 is beautiful song "Say You Say Me" by Lionel Ritchie. Recorded for the film White Nights starring Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines the song didn't actually appear on the soundtrack but instead was released on the 1985 album Dancing On The Ceiling. The song even won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe.

Rocky IV is still king of the box office, but there are two other movies worth mentioning even though they don't compete with the greatness of Rocky.

The fantastic dystopian scifi film Brazil from the amazing Terry Gilliam is released in theaters on Dec. 18. I am a huge Terry Gilliam fan and of Brazil. But more importantly on Christmas Day the most amazing special aired in the history of television. The He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special brought together the Master of the Universe and the Princess of Power teach us that "…Christmas is about caring, sharing and goodwill and its spirit is within all of us"

Jenna’s back! And you know what that means… Its time for the Phil Collins episode. We had high, high hopes. Phil Collins guest star, Izzy as a “Designer of the Interior” and the writer of the episode “Evan”, but this episode just fell a little short. We have a great time though, including a party you can shake a booty at!

Dominic wonders where Phil’s Grandma buys furniture, Melissa is still looking for cameras behind clouds, Jenna breaks down the mysterious hangar and John can’t believe they wasted 18 months. This is a so-so episode of Miami Vice and a great episode of Go With the Heat.

We’ve changed up our schedule and now This Week In Vice will come out a couple days before Go With The Heat. It seems like a better fit to find out what was happening the week each episode Miami Vice aired before we break it down. Let us know if you like the change!

Hi pals, coming up this week on Go With The Heat Phil Collins guest stars as a conman who picks the wrong mark in the episode Phil The Shill. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Dec. 8 to Dec. 14, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

On Dec. 12 Arrow Air Flight 1285 crashed shortly after takeoff in Gander, Newfoundland. The international charter flight was carrying US troops by way of Cairo to their home base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The crash killed all 238 on board including 8 crew members.

Then in a story that's close to home for me as a resident of the Phoenix area. On Dec. 12, a storm brought 3 inches of snow to the Phoenix Metro proving that occasionally… Hell does freeze over.

Still at the top of the Hot 100 is Broken Wings by Mr. Mister. Peaking at number 2 on the list is Eddie Murphy's single Party All The Time. From the album How Could It Be the song is about a woman who likes to go out dancing and flirt with other men even though her boyfriend buys her expensive things. Written and produced by Rick James, the song is a forgotten classic.

Rocky IV sits on the throne at the top of the box office. I'd love to talk more about this movie but I'll move along to the cult classic Clue. Based on the Hasbro board game the film has a fantastic ensemble cast including Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, and Eileen Brennan. The film included three different endings where viewers could see a different ending depending on the theater they attended. The film has acquired quite the nerd cult following since and is worth your watch.

Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat Sonny helps an old friend from Nam, only to find out he's playing both sides in the episode Back In The World. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Dec. 1 to Dec. 7, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

On Dec. 7, a little known running back from Auburn University was named the Heisman Trophy winner. The football and baseball star Bo Jackson would win by just 45 votes over quarterback Chuck Long. Normally I separate sports and news, but Bo Jackson is an 80's and 90's cultural icon. Bo would go on to be drafted by the Kansas City Royals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and be one of the most facsinating sports figures in a generation.

The song taking over the top spot on the Hot 100 is Broken Wings from the Los Angeles based band Mr. Mister. Released on the album Welcome to the Real World both the song and the album would chart number 1 in the US. This song is a classic, but I can't hear this song without fondly looking back to my days of playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which has the greatest soundtrack of any video game ever.

In theaters, the movie at the top of the box office is still Rocky IV. Instead of talking about another movie, I'd rather talk more about Rocky IV this week. Co-starring along side Sylvester Stallone is the fantastic Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago. Born in Sweden, Lundgren is a living legend. Having both a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney and a 3rd. Dan Black Belt he is an icon and the best Rocky villain of the series.

We’ve arrived at something we haven’t had happen in many, many weeks. We have an episode of Miami Vice none of use liked. In this disjointed episode directed by Don Johnson we do get a couple gems. First, we get some great guest stars. Iman stars as the heroin dealer Dakota. The jailbird G. Gordon Liddy gets out on parole from Watergate long enough to appear in a few scenes as our non-existent bad guy.

We still have a lot of fun with this episode of Miami Vice. Dominic introduces us to a leather-bound Switek named Zoom and Melissa thinks Zito might be Thumper. John gives us the background on The Doors, the only band that has music in this episode. But, we can all agree that we love The Ugly Man.

Its another fun-filled episode of Miami Vice.

Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat Gina seeks to bring down the man who attacked her friend in the very dark episode Bought And Paid For. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Nov. 24 to Nov. 30, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

On Nov. 25, an attempted raid on the terrorist held EgyptAir Flight 648 ended with 60 people dead, including two of the terrorists. The hijackers had forced the plane to land in Malta after taking over before takeoff in Athens, Greece. The terrorists planned for the plane to land in Libya, but landed in Malta due to lack of fuel. The botched raid to save the hostages ended in a massacre and escalated tensions between the US and Malta.

The Miami Vice and Go With The Heat favorite Phil Collins is back at the number one spot on the Hot 100. The song Separate Lives would take the honor from Starship at the top of the charts. From the White Nights motion picture soundtrack, the song is a duet with Marilyn Martin and would receive an Oscar nomination for the songwriter Stephen Bishop. I am a gigantic Phil Collins fan and will never say no to more Phil in our lives.

A film of epic porportions has taken over the box office. For just a minute, I'd like to acknowledge the amazing year 1985 was for movies. Beverly Hills Cop, Commando, and Back to the Future all were released and are classics. But, none of them hold a candle to this weeks top film and the film that will carry the box office for the rest of the year. I am talking of the one and only Rocky IV. I don't care what anyone else thinks of Rocky IV, I love this movie. You get it all: Boxing, Russians played by non-Russian actors, Apollo Creed's amazing entrance to James Brown and of course, the greatest montage in the history of film.

What an episode. In a very dark, serious episode of Miami Vice, we discuss important things like: The bug vans Mt. Dew paint job, Izzy getting into the Diet Soda racket, Crockett’s nipples and the various slapping abilities of the Vice team. Melissa is very disappointed in Martin, which is a shock! Dominic explains his theory on the Gina and Sonny relationship status and John has many questions. He is determined to get to the bottom of the Manny mystery and the greatest Sweet N’ Low caper of the 80’s.

Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat Martin Castillo proves his honor in the episode Bushido. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Nov. 16 to Nov. 23, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

On Nov. 19, President Reagan and Russian General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev would meet for the first time a the Geneva Summit in Geneva, Switzerland. This was the first time the two leaders had met face-to-face. Above all else the meeting emphasized peace and furthering cooperation between the two superpowers.

On Nov. 20, after many delays, Microsoft releases Windows 1.0. Essentially a graphical interface for MS-DOS, the operating system was panned by critics for relying too heavily on using the mouse. Requiring MS-DOS 2.0 and at least 256 KB of RAM, Microsoft would finally end support in 2001.

On Nov. 18 during Monday Night Football, one of the most iconic moments in NFL history happened at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. During the second quarter, the game tied 7-7, the Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann was sacked by Giants defensive end Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson, causing Theismann to suffer a compound fracture of both bones in his lower right leg. The scene and sound of the play is unforgettable and ultimately ended Theismann's career.

We Built This City from Starship still holds the number one spot on the Hot 100. Instead of continuing to talk about this terrible song, I will instead point out a Miami Vice favorite. Glenn Fry's classic You Belong to the City, which was written specifically for the Miami Vice episode Prodigal Son, peaks at number two on the Hot 100. As the clearly superior song about a city, you can hear more about this song on episode 27 of Go With the Heat.

In theaters, the movie at the top of the box office is King Solomon's Mines, starring Richard Chamberlain and Sharon Stone. This was the fourth film version of the 1885 book of the same name. Although profitable, the film was not received well. I have to admit, I haven't seen this movie. But, my love of bad movies and seeing this one holds a 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, I will be adding it to the list.

Lets face it, Martin Castillo is a God among men. In this weeks Miami Vice episode Marty takes the code of the warrior and protects his best-friends family. Along the way he gives us a creepy smile and saws people in half with his samurai sword. In the only episode directed by Edward James Olmos, we’re very, very excited to have a Castillo only show.

We have a lot of fun with this episode too. Melissa swoons over this episode and is one of her all-time favorites. Dominic is concerned about what’s gonna happen with those naked mannequins and John is convinced Marty is little Marty’s dad. Now watch out behind you! Marty is swinging down from the ceiling!
