Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat, your enthusiast guide to Miami Vice, we break down Season 2, episode 7 Tale of the Goat. On This Week in Vice, we’ll take a look at when this episode aired – from Nov. 10 – 16, 1985 – when Miami Vice was King.

On Nov. 13 the volcano Nevado del Ruiz erupted 80 miles outside of Bogota, Columbia. The eruption would cause a lahar, completely demolishing the city of Armero, causing an estimated 25,000 deaths.

In regrettable news, the Miami Vice Theme is not the top song on the Hot 100. To make it even worse, the number one song is We Built This City by Starship. The San Fransisco native band would reach the hot 100 again in 1987 with a much better song in Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now. But unfortantely this week we have to acknowledge this song for the next 20 seconds and then never speak of it again.

Continuing our lackluster week in 1985, the top movie at the box office is Once Bitten, starring Lauren Hutton and Jim Carrey. Hutton plays a 400 year old countess who needs to drink the blood of virgins before Halloween to stay alive, but finds it difficult to find a virgin in 1980’s Los Angeles. This was Jim Carrey’s first lead role in a film and yet still continued to find work.

Voodoo. VOODOO. Tubbs has some bad loas and we have what might be our favorite episode of the season so far. Legba (the villians real name) is out to get revenge and only Tubbs’ cocky attitude and breezy suit can stop him. Right from the get go we fall in love with this episode of Miami Vice… For all the wrong reasons.

Bad lines, awkward scenes and Tubbs getting a case of the Yips make for one of our funniest episodes of Go With The Heat. Melissa couldn’t wait for us to see Tubbs leg cramp acting, John is concerned about people turning into goats and Dominic still hasn’t stopped laughing about “Yips”.

Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat we meet one of the worst bad guys in the history of Miami Vice in the episode Junk Love. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Nov. 3 to Nov. 9, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

On Nov. 6, the M-19 marxist guerillas stormed the Palace of Justice in Bogota, Columbia. The 27 hour siege would end with 98 people dead including almost half of the Columbian Supreme Court.

On Nov. 9, Garry Kasparov became the youngest chess champion ever at just 22 years old. Winning 13-10 against Antoly Karpov in the 24th. game, this chess championship is one the greatest matches in modern history. Kasparov would go on to considered perhaps the greatest Chess player of all time.

I have been waiting for this week since the inception of the show. The number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 is the one, the only, the classic and the greatest theme song ever… The Miami Vice Theme. Written and performed by Jan Hammer, the Miami Vice Theme would win two Grammy's and the soundtrack would chart for 11 weeks. In theaters, the action thriller Death Wish 3 starring Charles Bronson would take the top spot. The film is what Bronson does best: Cleaning up the streets of New York and bringing justice to young thugs. I have to admit I haven't seen this movie in many, many years. The real story of Death Wish is Cannon Films. Cannon has produced many of my favorite B-Movies including this film, Breakin', Last American Virgin, Delta Force and Cobra. They weren't the hero we need, but the hero we deserve.

Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat we dig deep into Crockett's past in the episode Buddies. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering when this episode of Miami Vice aired, from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

On Oct. 27 the Kansas City Royals defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 7 of the World Series. Dubbed the Show-Me Series, the Royals win in Game 7 clinched their first ever World Series title. The series was the first to play all games at night and was the last with neither team using a designated hitter. The World Series included 4 future hall of famers including Ozzie Smith and George Brett.

Number one on the Hot 100 is the classic Part-Time Lover by the one and only Stevie Wonder. From the album Square Circle the song would reach the top of the charts in R&B, dance, adult contemporary and number three in the UK. The song would be nominated for a Grammy award and includes backing vocals from Syreeta Wright and Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind, and Fire.

At the Box Office, replacing Commando at the top is the courtroom thriller Jagged Edge starring Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close. The film originally premiered on Oct. 4, but didn't reach the number one until Oct. 27. In the film, Jeff Bridges plays a husband who is accused of brutally murdering his wife and hires Glenn Close to defend him. Of course Bridges and Close fall in love. No one can resist the charming good looks of Jeff Bridges.

Once again, Crockett’s past comes back and one of his buddies isn’t who he thinks he is. Its an episode of Miami Vice that has everything Crockett: Vietnam, shootouts, surprises and long lectures. In addition, we get a great appearance by Mrs. Nugart and some wise guys. In reality, its a so-so episode of Miami Vice.

But never fear! Jenna makes her triumphant return (at least for one episode) and we have much to discuss. Jenna wonders about Dorothy’s car. Melissa calls Jenna out and has serious problems with us questioning Crockett’s ability as a police officer. Dominic really enjoys Mrs. Nugart and John is obsessed with The Nobodys.

It may not be the best episode of Miami Vice, but its one of our best episodes of Go With The Heat.

Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat we finally get our first full episode of Miami Vice about the one and only Trudy Joplin in the episode The Dutch Oven. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering the time when this episode aired, from Oct. 20 to Oct. 26, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

On Oct. 20, a small group of close friends would say their final goodbye to the legendary Rock Hudson. Starring in over 60 movies and the TV show Dynasty, Rock Hudson died on Oct. 2 from complications of the AIDS virus. A versitle actor and a hearthrob from the Golden Age of film, he was the first major celebrity to die from the AIDS virus.

At the top of the Hot 100, its a new week and a new hit. This week, Take on Me by a-Ha would only hold the top spot for one week but is one of the most memorable songs of the 80's. Although this isn't the greatest song, almost everyone knows the music video. The song originally was released in 1984 and received a few revisions until being re-released and finally reaching the charts. 1985 is clearly the year of MTV helped make hits and this music video was made for the MTV generation.

The action film Commando still holds the top spot but I found a movie released at the same time just for you B-Movie fans. Re-Animator was released on Oct. 18. Loosely based on a H.P. Lovecraft novella, the film is about a doctor that, unsurprisingly, can re-animate the dead. Re-Animator would spawn two sequels and a theater musical and still has a large cult following. To me, what makes Re-Animator a classic is the practical effects. Whether its Re-Animator or The Thing or Videodrome, I'm a sucker for movies that actually build their effects.

After 30 episodes its here. Finally after all this time, Trudy gets her due. This is an entire episode dedicated to Trudy, both as a cop and a look into her personal life. We get the whole story. And we’re all really, really excited to get this episode of Miami Vice!

The whole Go With The Heat gang is rooting for Trudy, even when she kills a person 3 minutes into the episode. This is a stereotypical episode of Miami Vice too. Lots of big hair, great clothes and living the high life. Of course, cocaine is everywhere. Dominic is wondering why Trudy is giving Crockett a back rub on his boat (suspicious right!). John is very impressed with how good both Trudy and Tubbs always look. Melissa spends every moment she can to defend Crockett’s reckless behavior.

Another classic Vice episode.

Hi pals, this week on Go With The Heat we breakdown one of the all-time greatest episodes of Miami Vice in Out Where the Buses Don't Run. On This Week in Vice we'll be covering the two weeks that passed between episodes 2 and 3 of the second season of Miami Vice, from Oct. 6 to Oct. 19, 1985, when Miami Vice was King.

Oct. 9 is the birthday of the one and only John Lennon. On what would have been Lennon's 45th. birthday, New York Mayor Ed Koch with Yoko Ono dedicated the Central Park memorial Strawberry Fields. Located at Central Park West and W. 72nd. St. the memorial includes a mosiac including the word "Imagine" from his famous song and is named for the Beatles song Strawberry Fields Forever, written by Lennon.

After three weeks at the top, Money for Nothing finally gives up the top spot on the Hot 100. Moving up to number one is Oh Sheila from the electro-funk band Ready for the World. This dance song wouldn't be the only top song from the band, but by the end of 1986 they were a distant memory of the mid-80's.

Supplanting Invasion USA at the top of the box office is a real action movie. One of the best action movies from the 80's and an example for why the 80's was the greatest decade of action movies ever. The outstanding action flick Commando starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rae Dawn Chong, Alyssa Milano and Miami Vice's own Dan Hedaya would show Chuck Norris how its done. I'm obviously a fan of this movie and I wish the action genre can find some of this magic again.

Whooo boy. This is one of the, if not THE highest rated episodes of Miami Vice ever. And by the time you get to the end, it delivers. Bruce McGill guest stars as a totally looney tunes former Vice cop who is obsessed with bringing down the one that got away. This episode consistently pulls you to crazy town but makes you second guess every move and then hits it out of the park in the last 5 minutes.

Unfortunately Melissa is out with a cold so Dominic and John have to hold down the fort without an expert. But we have an amazing time and take a more serious tone in an episode that tackles mental disorders. We still have a lot of fun especially when the boys visit the club “Booty”.

A classic episode of Miami Vice and of your favorite Miami Vice podcast.
