According to Pew research center in 2025, 20% of churchgoers attend exclusively online while 26% engage in a hybrid model.

As church members, we often look up to our pastors, but do we look up to them too much? A Gallup Survey in 2023 also reports that trust in pastors reached an all-time low of 34%. Lifeway Research also reports that 41% of Protestant churchgoers said they have been influenced by a pastor’s teachings to the point of trusting them more than others in their life - Lifeway Research also reports that 1 in 5 churchgoers have faced moments where the fallibility or the failure of a pastor actually impacted their faith journey. 

What are the dangers of putting too much faith in a human leader? How should we as the church view our pastors and navigate the balance between respect and keeping our trust in God?

“Nobody showed up to our church this weekend because we told them we told them go to another church to remind ourselves that the kingdom is bigger than any one local church!”

This brings up an interesting topic. The idea behind this activity is that the church is encouraged to remember that the Church is bigger that our local congregation. It is so easy in America at least to feel a sense of competition with other congregations. What is a biblical way to view other churches around us?

1. 16:02 - We haven’t talked a lot about persecution while having gospel conversations yet. First, Steve, do we experience persecution in America today?
2. 20:24 - Eric, you mentioned that at the end of Acts 13, we see that they are stirring up persecution against Paul and Barnabus, but they moved on filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. Can we talk about that for a second? How do you develop that mindset and confidence to not get discouraged?
