The National Party has released its plan to get students back into school as quickly as possible - and to keep them there.

Among its proposals, it wants children in years 1-to-10 to get an hour each of English and maths teaching each day.

The government is making its own announcement on schools this afternoon.

National's education spokesperson Paul Goldsmith spoke to Māni Dunlop.
